Hey guys! I'm gonna write just a short miniblog here since I bought the Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy for my PSP!
HOLY SMOKES IM SO EXCITED TO PLAY THAT I HAD TO WRITE A BLOG ABOUT THIS :3
Final Fantasy Dissidia is a huge treat to Final Fantasy players by combining a game where you can play as all the current Final Fantasy heroes and villians. And they released the sequal Dissidia 012 not too long ago (I think)
As a PSP owner, ever since I first heard about the Dissidia release I was soooooooo stoked, I'm a huge Final Fantasy owner below FF < 10 :3
The gameplay was amazing, it was so nostalgic playing as my favourite Final Fantasy characters, making Leon vs Cloud? AWESOME! As for the game itself.... Er.. I suck at describing gameplay so I'll just quote wikipedia for you guys:
"Dissidia Final Fantasy's genre has been described as "dramatic progressive action" and its graphics are in three dimensions. It has wireless one-on-one multiplayer and fights revolving around the use of individual special skills of characters to do damage to opponents. Players can also customize their characters with equipment."
Words cannot describe how awesome this game was (Actually this image is from 012 so I should say, I canot describe how excited I am!)
For all you Final Fantasy fans with a PSP, I HIGHLY recommend this game! The only thing bad about this game (for me) was that the story was pretty bad and it gets really boring after getting your first level 99 character but thats common for me.
I love a game with a mish mash of famous characters; a few of my favourite games were JUMP superstars (or something, it was Japanese and for the ds) and Super Smash Bros Brawl.
After I finish the game I'll write how I feel about this sequal, I hope it makes me tingle!

not sure why you're disappointed by the fact that its story is shit. I don't even play these spin-off and i already knew their story are crap. The main purpose of these spin-off is mainly 1.easy money 2. treats for the old guard

I've put about 250 hours combined into the original Dissidia/Dissidia 012 - when you get a level 100 character, master all their abilities or start leveling up some other ones! Once I got 12 level 100's (all ten of the original mains, Lightning, and another character that's not instantly available + Show Spoiler +) and two completely mastered characters (Lightning and Firion), that's about when the apathy started kicking in. I started trying to get Golbez and Kefka up but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
It is a fun game, and I'll be taking it with me to the Distant Worlds concert in St. Louis to try and exchange some friend cards and get back into it then, but for now I'm replaying FFV along with Skyrim and Starcraft...just no time for it anymore.
BTW I don't know when 012 was released in other countries but the North American release was back in March, so it's been out for a decent amount of time now.

Only played 012 and I got pretty excited over it at first but only ended up playing it for around 10 hours, though I've never been big on fighting games even if it's a unique FF fighting game. I'l probably get back into it eventually though, it's not a awful game.
I really don't like what they did to Terra in Dissidia though, not the same character as in FF6.

This game I have put so much time into I have broken my PSPs disc reader, IT WILL NOT SPIN DISKS ANYMORE IT HAS SPUN TOO MUCH. This makes me very sad as I had preordered type-0 but anyways, so yeah this game is great I preordered it because I know moonspeak and the like but sadness I can no longer enjoy it and I don't have the income to invest in a new PSP especially with the vita is coming out which would be very silly of me to do so.

I actually kind of enjoyed the story and the way it was tied to FF1 (with massive amounts of retconning, of course, haha). But it is first and foremost a fighting game, and that part is definitely done well. I have over 200 hours on my file, much of which is just labyrinth. I just wish there was an easier way to play against people online

I preordered both and I am unable to play type-0 because of my fail PSP which caused much rage as that money couldve been used towards other things of value like food, clothing and more games.

I know nothing about the game (other than the videos I watched) but the question that should be on everyone's mind: is the game balanced for competitive play?
or is there like no competitive community so it's hard to say?

or is there like no competitive community so it's hard to say? I thought the first Dissidia wasn't bad for it. I had endless Jecht vs Cloud fights with a friend. Could be terribly wrong though, and the overall game wasn't totally balanced imo.

No character is terrible when it comes to balance - for example, my favorite and personal best character for the original Dissidia was the Onion Knight, who is universally considered one of the worst possible to use because his bravery attacks are ridiculously weak.
Much like Street Fighter though, there are certain character matchups that should lead to an easy victory (or easy loss). A good Kuja player (can glide freely through the air and change distances during his attacks) should rarely lose to a Firion player (99% of attacks are ground based). The Firion player's only realistic chance would be some very solid Shield Bash play.
