Hi there,
I Just want to know something guys. I'm a protoss (platinum but playing diamond lately) and I really like to make canon rush vs protoss since I don't like PvP. I do it cause I really find its fun to see the answer of the opponet. Don't get me wrong, I can win PvP, it just that I always lost to build order, multitasking doesn't really matter.
So the point of my blog is to know about people who lost to canon rush. I always get some crying baby after the game:
"OMG YOU NOOB" I'm the noob but they lost
"YOU GOT NO SKILLS GET REAL" I tell them to scout more next time since I build pylon forge at my main base so they answer "I DIDN'T THINK YOU THAT MUCH NOOB SO I DIDN'T SCOUT THAT MUCH" seems logical
to this I gave them the oppornuty to get revenge "I DON'T WASTE MY TIME WITH NOOBS LIKE YOU" but they can take 20 mins to bitch me in chat....
Between that, some cool stuff that I can't post here cause its not safe for young ears.
So why people act like canon rush is for noob but they are afraid to get revenge. What are they trying to proove with the bitching post-fighthing. They only prove to me that they are angry.
|
This is why I come to TL.
|
"YOU GOT NO SKILLS GET REAL"
You are cannon rushing. I would agree with your opponent. If you do it every PvP you are a noob

People tell me about how cool Canon Rock is but I tell them no thanks cause I got canon rush.

If you really felt this way and thinking they were bad, why would you need to express it in this blog ?It looks like you're trying to convince us - and yourself ? - that they suck. But it all sounds like a rant. I enjoy cheesing people a lot, and there's nothing more satisfying than the opponent BM'ing after you successfully cheesed it. You should make a happy blog rather than a rant blog.
I may be wrong but that's really what I felt when reading this blog.

In my experience, players who lose to cannon rushes are pretty bad themselves. Super easy to spot, only slightly harder to deflect. I don't see why you'd want to cannon rush every game, though, since it won't really help you get any better at the game. It is your game though, if you find it funny to cannon rush you're free to cannon rush aaaaaaall day long.

I didn't play a decent set of games for like 2 months now and today i finally got to sit down and play a few.So first game a pvp came up on Shattered Temple(rofl even forgot the names of bloody maps) and I was like sweet, with 4 gate being useless now there so many cool things you can do now. Going into the game I decided I will do a good old Nony style stargate phoenix play. Few minutes into the game I notice a shady probe cutting around my base and suddenly the little bugger drops a cannon and I was like "o,o"" I forgot about that" So I ask the guy how come he proxys stuff on 4 player maps? Answer:"I don't like PvP anymore since 4 gate nerf" Can't explain that¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Btw yea It was my fault I like did not scout at all

Wait, you expect random people on ladder to act like reasonable adults and simply learn from their (stupid) loss and move on? lol also@pStar, maybe you should look up what the word "noob" actually means.
|
1) Yes, they get angry. At themselves, at you, at Blizzard, whichever. Good or not, losing to the n:th cannon rush in a day makes many people angry in general, I can perfectly well understand that. Some take it out through ranting. Others by blog posting.
2) They act like you are noob, because you haven't proved you're not.
I think everyone (I guess you as well) agree that it is MUCH easier to reach platinum through cannon-rushing than through "normal" macro-play. Which is why the macro players in platinum in general will have more skill, in some definition of skill, than the cannoners. A cannon-rusher of the same skill as a platinum macroer would be in high diamond. This has been shown several time through experiment where (macro) people suddenly decided to 6-pool, 4-gate, 7-roach rush every game, and they will leap far up in the MMR. Thus you cannot really argue with this point. You could say that it is stupid of the macroer to not pick the "best" strategy to win, but that is another story.
I am here doing an artificial division between people that ALWAYS cannon, and people that never cannon-rusher, but I think you get the point.
Nonetheless, if you are a macroplayer in platinum, and you play against someone that cannons you, you will have around 50% to win, as bnet matched you together. Hence you will lose to cannon rushes sometimes. And also, as explained above, you will in general be better than the cannon rusher, as the cannon rusher didnt make it to high diamond with his MMR.
That is why it is motivated for the other guy to say that you suck, even if you won. Chances are that they would be much higher than you if they would cannon as much as you, and you would be much below them if you would play straight up.
3) They don't want to regame, because they think you will pull another (or even the same) cheese. And they probably dont like playing vs cheese, as they got angry by the cannon rush. Because of that, there is no gain for them to regame. They don't like getting angry.
Any other questions?

Oh, I see, you can win PvP but just you always lost to build order. Ha!
People get angry when they get cannon rushed because whether or not they successfully defend it, it's not fun, it's annoying. And they're playing this game to have fun. I feel like most people that cannon rush end each game thinking "fuck yeah I owned that noob lolol why so mad bro?", and most people that get cannon rushed end those games thinking "man, I wish I had those 6 minutes of my life back". That's all.
Also, I came into this thread expecting some cleverly written pun on how cannon rushing was canonical. I got basically the opposite of that. 1/5

yeah, I think the reason that so many people hate cannon rushing and cheese is because oftentimes the winner will act like they just pulled off the most ridiculous shit, or the loser will think so (lol). It's just annoying when people think that pulling off shit like cannon rushing proves that they're somehow really good all around (macro) players as well, which is dumb.

Ok ok I got to precise some things about the canon rush
1) I begin with the goal to canon rush, but sometimes I just can't cause he can spot me, map, last scout etc... So I play the macro games which I got the same winrate as the canon rush. I don't over laddering with that cheese.
2) I don't play to play in the GSL, I play for fun. I'm full time worker and full time student master degres so I can't play more than 1-2 hours a day. So of course I'm ain't that good and don't expect to be master or GM
3) My question was more about why they act like this and not, do you agree with me.
4) endy, angry doesn't mean bad.
5) I'm not the one who will whine after 11/11 barrack or 6 pool lost, most of time, I type GG quit game find match.
6) tks for explanation Cascade

Instead of cannon rushing i suggest you learn how to play properly. So maybe someday you will get out of platinum.
|
It's actually a photon cannon.
|
I think making John Paul II a saint so soon after his death counts as a canon rush.
|
Psh... real men proxy 2 gate in their opponents mineral line PvP. This strategy is so manly your opponent will quit playing starcraft.

this is total horse shit, if they were "so much better" the stupid fucks would learn to scout, you see flash lose to any cannon rushes? Any sort of P cheese(maybe like 1/10 times)? No because hes fucking skilled, but that doesn't mean shit because even he cheeses sometimes. I was playing a Master P the other day and he went for a 1-gate FE and so I went 3 tech lab+1 reactor and just rallied to his natural, I won. Did he call me a cheeser? Did he rage? Nope, he just goes "gg, wp".
Why? Because I properly scouted out his greedy build and punished him for it. Just because you cannon rush every game doesn't mean you aren't skilled. Hell I even remember reading a LR of an MLG which I can't remember, but the guy made it through the group stages just literally cannon rushing every game, is he "not skilled"?

Umm, this is kindof a straw man.
I was talking about the average skill level of blind cannon rushes at platinum sc2. Not about a specific players ability to hold off cannon rushes at s-class scbw. Not about a single games reactive punishment for eco-builds at masters sc2.
All I was saying is that, at platinum level sc2, most (note MOST, there are for sure exceptions...) players will have more success with blind cannon rushes every game than they will have with macro play. Your arguments do not address that at all. Actually I agree with most of what you are saying. cheers.

Yeah I love how ppl get mad at cheesers. I don't cheese that much, but I have no problem with ppl cheesing. It makes the game fun.
"You have no skill" As you said they are the ones losing to this. They should be the ones refining their skills so they don't lose to a "skilless noob"
I don't lose to cheese cause I played on LA where 9 out of 10 games where cheese. If I lost I just typed GG and leave. Just like you said.
Sometimes I got mad, but after that I would feel embarrassed for my childish behavior.
I mean most ppl play to have fun. If cheesing is fun to them so be it. If you guys want to improve grow up, say gg and go practice more, watch your replay and think of a way you could have stoped this.
ITS funny how ppl will tell you to change your game not because they want you to improve, but because they would prefer that you stop cheesing instead of improving themselves.
Keep cannon rushing if you feel like it. If you don't wanna become pro just do want you enjoy the most. And feed on the "real skilless" tears.

I lost to the same zerg twice in a row when he did exactly the same baneling bust on me. ( I didn't expect him to do it twice and then I missed a forcefield ). I was so pissed off at my self the second time but I forced my self to type the gg even though I didn't want to and I immediately felt better after I did. Dropping the gg, even when you're pissed off, puts everything in perspective. No matter how frustrating it is to lose to cheese, the truth is your opponent did beat you, so at least in that game he outplayed you. Nothing wrong with what the OP is doing or anyone else who cheeses IMO and it's always better to gg no matter what.
