Im suprised this hasn't be posted but did a search and nothing came up.
Fragments from an old six-ton NASA satellite hurtled toward Earth on Friday, while the exact site of the crash-landing remained a mystery into the final hours.

NASA reports an "old" Satellite which was used to check the Atmosphere around the earth is on a crash course with the Earth today (Friday 23/9 GMT) and doesn't excatly know where it is going to crash causing some "drama" around the world.
Reports are that it will be somewhere between 57degree's North and 57degree's South of the equator (kind of a big estimate huh?) so many people remain un aware of what to do.
They think only small parts of the BEASTLY satellite station will be in tact after the Atmoshphere has eaten it up, but still parts as big as 160KGs may still be in tact and on a collision course with the Earth.
The U.S. space agency has stressed that the risk is "extremely small" of any of the 26 chunks expected to survive the fiery re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere hitting one of the planet’s seven billion people - a one in 3,200 chance.
So to my Team Liquid friends, dont forget to wear you Hard Hat this evening.
EDIT: 1 in 3200 is not that great of odds be careful!!!!
EDIT2: Thanks to Qlud for these nice links. Follow Current Position Of Satellite Here Check Predicted Are Of Impact Here

I'll stay inside, just to be safe ;'D

I was listening on the radio this morning, apparently the odds of someone, somewhere, getting hit by this are 1/3200 or something like that. Take that with a pinch of salt, this was just Absolute Radio, not BBC 4 or anything, but still.
edit: maybe if i'd read your article it'd agree with me lol. Can't believe that NASA suggest 1/3.2k is "extremely small", jesus christ, this is a coach falling out of the sky, 1/3.2k is pretty high for that I think. That someone gets hit is thousands of times more likely than me winning the lottery next week.
Whaaaaaaaaaat.

A couple artificial satellites re-enter every week, and nobody's been injured yet by such a thing. The probability of anyone getting hit is very small. The probability of a certain person getting hit is vanishingly small.
It should, however, produce a nice fireball. Perhaps some people will even find some debris as a souvenir.

Sadly, Finland was ruled out apparently.

That's actually higher than I figured. Still, you being one out of over 6 billion makes it quite okay.

It should, however, produce a nice fireball. Perhaps some people will even find some debris as a souvenir. The difference between those satellites re-entering the atmosphere and this one is that those were all controlled, forced re-entries. This is entirely uncontrolled and unintended.
That said, the chances of this hitting anyone is pretty low, let's just hope it lands in the ocean somewhere.

yep, but if its 7 minutes early.. it will be people near Barcelona who are in for a surprise

It's not a 1 in 3200 chance of hitting a specific person, but the chances that anyone gets hit at all.

NASA has really taken an interest in fighting AIDS huh?

Lol good idea. But I don't know if that will help unless you are in a bomb bunker.

too be fair some of the pieces are projected to be 1kg or less on impact... still at the speed they are hurtling I don't know if it will help unless you are in a bunker underground.

Wow is THIS an empty fluff piece or what. What's 1 in 3200? The rough chance that you are killed by a marital aid while in an adult toy shop?
