First Military Flight

Thought I would share because I'm still pretty pumped about it--

Friday was my first military flight ever, I am in training and this was my first flight (called a "Dollar Ride")

-The weird WWF belt looking thing is a G-Suit that inflates when the plane pulls G's to help keep blood from pooling in the legs

-lol didn't know someone was taking a picture, I am clearly nervous...looking down at my kneeboard trying to read my notes so I wouldn't screw up!

-also I am a big guy.. my instructor pilot is not a midget

We're flying in the Texan T6

Was a blast, I pulled a little over 4 g's and completed all the maneuvers I knew the parameters
-aileron rolls
-barrell rolls
-loops
-split s
-cuban 8
-cloverleaf
and some others

I got to sit in a T6 at an airshow recently. the modern version, obviously, definitely a very nice aircraft for training. Good luck, and out of curiosity, what did you do before you entered the military? Such as get a Private pilots license, etc.

Man i always wondered how it's like flying a fighter Jet, they look so cool when i was like 5 and still look awesome lol

How are you allowed to fly? I was under the impression 6' 2" was the limit

No, I did not have time to get a PPL during my years at college. I was too busy with ROTC, working FT, and school. I completed the ROTC program at Texas State and after completing Initial Flight Screening in Pueblo and Water Surivial Training, I was opted to begin training as a Combat Systems Officer.

Yes, I am stationed at NAS Pensacola. Been here since March-- Class 12-11

I am just within the requirements, I think 6' 5" or 6' 6" is the max height. However, there are more specific requirements like leg length, sitting height, reach, etc.

That is awesome. I am an aviation electrician on EA-18Gs. I'm trying to finish up my degree right now so I can become a pilot. I did my training in Pensacola too.
