Hello tl, im in the process of moving to maui T.T and the hawaiin internet isnt known to be that fast... at all. Heres a little backstory, atm im under 18, so i dont really have a choice if i want to move or not. Now the thing im worred about is losing my current skillset, because i cant play sc2 here. last season, my peak was rank 2 master NA (doesnt mean much lol) and high diamond KOR.
So to not get completely rusty, im planning to start playing BW, now ive played bw before, and the highest i got was just D :/, so tl if i play BW for a couple of months until I move again, will i come back to sc2 any better?
btw i play T, and my id on na and korea is Makaveli

You should actually get much less latency when you play on Korean servers.
and I don't know how playing bw for a month or two will affect your sc2 play, but bw is awesome so you should play just for that reason.

Believe it or not you knock off the rust pretty quickly. Muscle memory goes a long way, and your brain usually remembers things pretty quickly too especially at your age.

uhmm I don't think the latency in hawaii is as bad as you make it out to be... I play with people from hawaii all the time and they have no problems whatsoever. if anything you should be playing less sc2 you're still a friggen kid only 12 years old and you're moving to one of the most beautiful places in the world with the best weather... sheesh >__> idk about this next generation anymore lol

the problem isnt latency, its just the lack of internet speed in upcountry maui

All that really matters is your ping time, and as mentioned, you're physically closer to Korea, so for SC2 purposes this may actually be an upgrade!
Of course, when you start streaming porn (if you haven't already), that'll be another story...

At 18 I was playing semi-pro football (soccer) as well as an hour or two of BW a day, with another coupla hours of guitar practice. One activity doesn't have to detract from another as long as your time is structured well.
Here's the second of my two pennies- play BW because it's awesome! Then see if you still want to play SC2 in a couple of months. If so, you're beyond help HF, message me on ICCup if you want practice etc. I'm "EleGant[AoV]".

No joke, I think that playing BW will make your mechanics top-notch. The only thing you might be behind is the metagame.

Play BW, Play Zerg

Ingrain this into your memory for ZvP
4sm 5sz
This is for ZvZ
And for the god awful ZvT you actually have to select your hydras and press L !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just kidding, yea don't worry about it. If you're able to actually execute a build to its fullest up to the 10 minute mark then that's way more mechanics than SC2, purely because of the fact that there is no automine. (No joke) However, it probably will not help you not help you in mechanics.
What it will do. SCBW will give you a 3rd eye to watch the minimap for reaver drops. SCBW will grant you endless patience. SCBW will give you the paranoia that causes you to scout the entire map continually.
MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL SCBW will allow you to have fun =)
with that being said, go have fun.

Indeed, its not necessarily about the speed, but rather the quality of the connection instead. As long as the connection is stable and packet loss stays rather minimal, you should be okay, even with a slower than standard internet.
