Set 1
I do not doubt Jaedong would have won this game. This game was closer than expected, but fantasy isn't protoss so nothing crazy happened.
Set 2
In my opinion, PvZ is the hardest matchup to play in the game. So when people in LR threads complain about PvZ balance when some random Z beating some good protoss, my usual response is "protoss just needs to play better"... this is what I mean when I say that, heh.
Set 3
I thought Hoejja was behind after his lings didn't do much but I am not a pro and Hoejja is and he completely understood what he needed to do and did it well enough to win. This was the most important set of the night - given that all of Flash, Stats, Bisu, and fantasy win their games, KT needs 1 more victory to force an ace match, and they got it here.
Set 4
Protoss won a PvZ, woooo. Action is still mediocre at best. I dunno how you win a proleague championship with Action as your third winningest player, but somehow KT did it. Also I was amused that "Action" played the turtliest style I have ever seen (ensnare???).
Set 5
I thought it was smart of Flash to use a safe opening here as opposed to the more risky 1 Rax FE. This was a great set; the strategy Flash used was clever but Best put up a decent fight. I think we're going to be seeing more of these types of strategies out of Flash in the near future as his wrist forces him to rely less on strong mechanics.
Set 6
Protoss winning another PvZ !?! A lot of people have their doubts about Stats, but by now I think he's proved that he's the sort of A- class player who can semi-consistently crush weaker B class players like Soo. Stats actually won this game very early on, although I don't blame Soo for his gg timing (see Horang2 vs Hoejja). I feel vindicated that mass corsairs has become the dominant style of PvZ as when protoss were having huge trouble with their high templar getting sniped I always felt that that was the solution.
Set 7
I haven't read the LR thread, but there are probably people arguing that SKT should have sent someone other than Best. You are totally wrong hypothetical people, Best was absolutely the correct pick. He ended up getting crushed, but that's hard to avoid when Flash is busy asserting that he's far and away the best player in the word.
The biggest thing I have to say about this finals is that I don't think we learned anything about which team is the better team. Good players beat bad players, Action was blown over by a light breeze, Hoejja got a BO advantage, and Flash can beat Best when he needs to. I was pretty happy to see KT win because SKT is basically the Yankees of Brood War and it is less interesting for them to win. But at the end of the day the most important thing is that this was exactly what you want out of a finals.
