It's not Starcraft 2 related, but it partains to an old account I made 3 years ago on YouTube called "flatlinesk8team", whenever I was into skateboarding and what not. I haven't skated since and my videos apparently got quite a lot of views. This is what YouTube mailed me:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
This, as far as I know is legit. I logged in and clicked the link and opened up a page for me to submit some info and apply to get paid.
The thing is, I haven't skated in so long and I only have 3 videos on that account. If I do accept, I would be required to make videos on that channel. YouTube told me that they would place ads on my videos to generate revenue for me but I really don't know what to do.

I checked your page and your your highest view is 5,000 for a video three years old. That's really low for Youtube standards so I really kind of doubt that it's legit. :\
Well the image wasn't loading first time I checked this but that does look authentic. I dunno anymore.

easy, get back to skating and upload more vids man! ^_^
If its really not in you to skate anymore, then just dont.
|
Would you be making enough money for it to be worth going back to skating? If you haven't skated in a while and don't feel comfortable doing it on camera anymore, then it may not be worth your time to train back up if you aren't getting paid enough. Just something to think about.
Edit: Also you should view the full headers of that email to make sure its legit.
|
@Chrispy Yeah that's what I said too. But it's real and I don't know why they sent me that. That's just what I saw in my mail today.
@Kfish Haha, not as easy as you think man, I actually tried skating again a few months back and could only do like 4 tricks. Not very easy to get back into once you quit lol
For those who might think it's fake, it's not. It's FROM YouTube and it's legit. I just don't know how my videos could meet those standards. I'm as confused as you guys are.

I don't think your videos get enough views for their to be interest from youtube in partnering your channel, so I can't help but doubt the legitimacy. Try and get into contact with youtube staff before giving away personal information. You don't want to get scammed.
|
Even if you were to accept it, the money you would make would be unnoticeable at the rate your current videos get views.
|
I don't get that, the e-mail says "Uploads by your account" and that looks like all videos from amnesia gameplay. Double check the url that the actual link in the email links to rather than just the url it appears to be (Hover over the url and see what it says on your statusbar).
I'd say its real except for the fact that the bottom videos it says that your channel has does not match up at all.
edit - also in emails like Hotmail, Gmail you can go to options > show original (in hotmail its view message source) and it should show the details and from there you can find out if its a spoof if the URL seems to check out right too)
- http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=3eb9ef88a5d655c3&hl=en nother little thing you can use to check on the authenticity (post by AndrewKLoyd)

Either email YouTube and ask them about it, or check the sender on your actual YouTube account to see if its legit

Start playing skate 3 on the 360!

I have a video from 3 years ago w 13k views -.- i want cash too!
|
This is a great chance. Just add a bit of comedy into your vids or maybe some creativity.
listen to idra:+ Show Spoiler +

If you can pull it off, start a website that allows people to send you videos to put onto your account. Or some other thing like that. But that way, all you would need to do is upload the videos sent to you by skaters who want publicity or some crap.
Milk it for what you can, if it won't be that much work.

My girlfriend has an old youtube channel with videos that picked up a few thousand views, similar to yours, and she got the same email. There's not really any risk involved on your end of the deal, so you might as well accept imo.
|
Youtube offered me the same for my shitty old amv I made lol.
|
my first video i uploaded had about 65,000 views, and i declined to make money off of it cause i stole that video from somewhere. haha...don't want to any "serious" legal problems
