Good job KT! Makes me extremely happy. Honestly you will never know how unspeakably happy it makes me that Woongjin gave KT a much better fight than CJ did. There's always next season... and with Light, I honestly think there's a chance to take it all (aka getting a higher seed). I really dislike the current seeding the top 2 get. IMO it should be something more like #1 and #2 get a buy past the first round. #3 v #6 winner plays #2, #4 v #5 winner plays #1. Getting seeded directly into the finals is just crazy.
While i do understand where you are coming from, that team #2 and especially #1 gets a huge advantage in the play-offs, i dont really dislike the system. Right now, we have teams working really hard through out the season to vie for the top spot, since it gives them this much privilege.. This intense competition can be seen between teams all throughout the season. If we go by your system, the competition will likely be a lot less fierce, since top 2 spots only got 1 game advantage comepared to the rest of the pack, and theres no different between top 1 n 2 at all (trivial difference anw).

I think it would've been pretty outrageous if the team that had no losses in two out of six rounds, won the WL, and had an overall decent lead at the end of the season, somehow had not made it into the finals because of two matches in the playoffs. Upsets do happen, and a Proleague finals without SKT this year would have been ridiculous.

It was pretty outrageous last year when the #1 seed in the AFC, which also had the best record in the NFL, lost to the #6 seed, but that happened. It was pretty outrageous when the team with the best record in the AL went up 3-0 in the ALCS versus the wildcard team and then lost 4-3, failing to make it to the World Series, but that happened too. It's called "competition." You might as well say that it's outrageous for the team that [BLAH BLAH BLAH] not to take the Proleague crown and thus argue that they should get first place automatically without playing in the playoffs at all.
Edit: Also, the post you quoted would have had #1 and #2 playing one playoff match before reaching the finals, not two.

I have no idea what AFC, NFL, ALCS etc. are. I'm talking about professional Starcraft.
My point was that having SKT play more games now to prove that they deserve a spot in the finals would have been meaningless. They've proven themselves enough this year. And it was already pointed out in another post that having even the top 2 ranked teams play more games in the play-offs would make the competition throughout the regular season much less fierce. Why bother getting a 10-win lead over the the last team to make it into the play-offs, if all you get for it is having to play two fewer play-off matches? Also, you would run the risk of having teams that barely made it into the play-offs play the grand finals, because they performed well for two weeks at the very end. So it would make both the competition during the regular season, AND the finals pointless.
Edit: When I said "two matches", i meant the day 1 and day 2 matches, not the number of teams they would have to face.

Format is something that ought to be fair and consistent from season to season. It matters less what the specific format is so long as it doesn't change.
Given that, then it's obvious that whatever seed advantage KT enjoyed last year, SKT ought to enjoy this year as well, or else the SPL cup loses a portion of its meaning.

How is it pointless when they legitimately make the playoffs and legitimately beat their opponents? I also think it's dumb that #1 gets 3 byes and #2 gets 2 byes, but there's no team with 1 bye, the discrepancy between 2 and 3 is insane and is fixed by a single bye system, where #2 only gets one more bye than #3, while #1 gets one more bye and seeding against the worst team to advance.
It's a dumb season but, hell, my team benefited from it last year so I can't get mad at SKT for having it this year. It's just, well, a bad system.

Poor Movie... He posted an entry on his Cyworld apologizing and blaming himself for CJ getting eliminated in the playoffs due to some idiot posting vicious insults on his page. Movie really should ignore those kind of fools instead of letting them get to him.... This is the second time he's posted a public apology in response to flaming.
Maybe he could use some cheering up...... Movie's Facebook page
