Ok i'm finally at a computer so I can post up some replays on things ^^
@Salvex, Sorry you had a rough time for your first LAN. But i'm sure you know by now that this previous LAN isn't exactly how they normally go. This was actually my second LAN but I came with 2 other people and we had a blast staying until the very end of the tournament, we payed for more computer time when they cracked down on things because the stream wasn't up or i would have just chilled on the couch. We even went out to dinner with a couple people after the event and that was another great experience to get to know the guys that run this thing a bit more. So simply giving it more time to get to know people, talking with the people around your computer helps I mean you aren't going to really get to know everyone right away. The group of people that came with me are all Plat and below so we knew we weren't going to win but still had a great time improving our skills, I actually took a game off a Master level player which last LAN I couldn't do. So hopefully you'll be more inclined to attend the August LAN now that we know it wont be at the same place so most of the issues involving the computers wont happen again.
Bronze-Diamond tournament and a Masters/GM tournament. Of course this introduces a whole bunch of possible things that would have to be sorted out, not only would we require a larger venue but we would need additional volunteers to help run and keep organized of course........also prize pots would be skewed.
@Luckyfool If you were able to get this up and running I would be more than happy to help out with this event maybe even casting and running a stream for the Bronze-Diamond group ^^
@ organizers Thanks for setting this up and running it despite the issues I thought it was another good event. No event is perfect and you guys did a great job running this like always!
@Everyone else, I did bring my camera to the event and walked around and filmed a good amount sadly i didn't really get any interviews with players other than the group of people that came to the LAN with me. I was hoping to get some interviews after the event ended but things wrapped up quite quickly so I'm going to try and grab interviews after group stages next event when people are waiting around and there more time. So as soon as i get the footage edited i'll post a video up and link it here.

lol I was just getting ready to say that his gf came with him. :p
20 dollars in itself is not a lot of money. HOWEVER 20 dollars to lose three BO3s and then get kicked off the computer by Nazihire and creepyLANcenterMussolini is a lot of money.
I've disliked the place more and more the more LANs we've held there, but I've kept it to myself lol.

you guys all paid 10 to play all day ><
Maybe if you actually showed up to the LANs again, you'd know about this! :p
Everyone always asks where Bob is and no one knows!
Well this entire post is pretty much directed at you.....
It's a shame you had a bad time, I would tell you I'm sorry but I'm really not. I'm a gold level player and I have gone to the last two held by LuckyFOOL and the minions and I've had an awesome experience..
Granted I'm 0-12 in both trips to the tourney losing doesnt scare me away at all...
If i was so worried about winning or losing I would go out and play WOW....
So boo-hoo at you for gettin ur ass rolled on by a GM and a couple boss class Masters... but what you really should have done is save those replays, email them to yourself and learn from it....
As for the making friends part, well brothaman I have had no trouble conversing with other people... Maybe I'm just more likable than you i dont know....
--------------
So now that I'm done being an assh*le for real you should have stuck around cuz all 3 members of LXG stayed the whole time and talked about the game non-stop.... granted there were very few of us what i learned saturday makes me feel like less of a scrub....
I hope to see you at the next LAN tho and come say what up to me I'll talk to ya all day... Big Dude Trail Blazers fitted, saying outlandish things to random people... Yessir..
And just maybe.... JUST MAYBE if we're in the same bracket I'll steal a win of ya...
Cuz I would be higher than the champion if i walked out of the next LAN w 1-17 record...

That's real!!! Do Work!!!
Did you read ANY of my posts? You're the typical OH LOOK SOMEONE MADE A NEGATIVE REPLY NOW IM GONNA GET BACK AT HIM. Your post made me facepalm pretty hard, congrats. Do you want to know what I did with the Master's league player that beat me? I played 2v2s with him and conversed a good bit before being booted off my computer. In fact, 2 out of the 3 players that I played against I talked a good bit with. The third player I never saw his face. You completely missed any points I tried to make in any of my posts, and the only reason I bothered replying to your reply is to try and deter any others with your opinion.
I am not going to repeat the same blah blah I've already said. Go back, re-read, and perhaps try and soak in what I typed. Thanks. Also, who in the F-word makes a 4 hour drive, from a MEETUP group online, that does not expect to win, and is not sociable? Do you realize how stupid that really sounds? OBVIOUSLY the main reason I went there WAS to interact with other players, and I did so the best I could without literally tapping random guys on the shoulder while playing at their computer. I really hope this is the last reply I have to respond to.
edit:Torenhire, are you the guy that I talked to when I first arrived about what to do? Sitting in the front of the LAN opposite side of the door?
Yes, I was the guy with the ponytail in the front of the LAN center you checked in with. Also gave you your group when I had it posted.
FWIW we tried something new with the organizing of the LAN, getting everyone in the center early and giving groups as I could fill them up. I don't think it ran terribly but I certainly have a better idea of how to do things.
Problem I see with this way is that the top 200 players or our regular top 4 finishers and the more hardcore players show up first and the rest kinda trickle in...makes spreading out the seeds really hard TT

Yo son, talking to Lucky atm about the idea of splitting up the groups ;3. I say we do it at the IG LAN so that the IG Lans could get more popular! considering how we're doing it at a new lan place supposedly. Son we gotta do ours 4's again btw.

Just so you know, the reason we did brackets at the ItsGosu LAN was ONLY because we had around 20-25 people. I can't make that work. 10 people in the AM groups, and 10 in the evening? lol
I think the IG LANs were just less "popular" because they are new to the LAN scene (for us anyways, dont know about previous) and Rob is a really annoying jerk (sending PMs and emails all over the place) and gets our LANs out there.
People recognize Luckyfool+Torenhire run LANs as established and working. ItsGosu runs a great LAN - the casting set up and everything is just awesome. However they're new. Rob and I had as few as 8 people show up to a LAN once, and we had a few that were like...10-15 people. We're way bigger than that now. Just give ItsGosu some time to establish themselves and they'll be set. They're great guys and the LAN was run great (/ego).
Maybe they should bring Hwangsin to a LAN.
Anyways, Rob and I talked about groups briefly...we just thought this was a good idea to try as we've been trying to get the LANs to finish faster. With everyone showing up in the morning and filling groups in as they show up, ensures that I can get the most amount of people playing the quickest. Eliminated evening group players from showing up and then standing around all day. Plus what ends up happening is people are slackers and don't wake up on time or don't show up cause 11am is too early on a Saturday (wut) and then the morning groups are empty and evening groups are stacked to hell with tons of players.
There's clear benefits to both, we just were trying out new things to see what would work better. We'll keep working on things. Right now we need to find a better LAN center.
shit, Rob, you and I are gonna be hosting a mini-MLG soon if we keep growing.
Guys...I just moved to the DC area and would love to participate in the next LAN event. Do you guys use a meetup page or how does one find out about the dates and announcements other than just keeping an eye on the community forum?

Thanks!
Zlasher's link helps, that's kind of our "community page" so to speak.
People will usually mention LANs in there, however I think we're taking a mini-break from LAN hosting at the moment. We'll be sure and get something put up in the DC thread when we know.
ah, cool. Not sure if I can make dinner on Saturday night or not. You guys start eating dinner at 10pm? Do you play SC before at that Netolic PC cafe also? I might be able to make it out tomorrow night, but would love to grab a few more details.
Well, um...we already...um...have a Peter, and you uh...well, you might just not fit in.
JK :D
We don't normally do the LAN cafe beforehand, this is just a special case because Luckyfool and I need to find a less shitty LAN center to host these tournaments at. We're not planning on playing (I don't think) but just meeting management and sliding the idea by them.
Shoot me a PM with any questions, this LAN went poorly and I'd rather the thread stop haunting me, hahahaha.

Oh and here's a blatant immature post; that white dude that works at Cyberground, to me is a major asshole. I think even the so-called "racist Koreans" at Seoul PC are a lot more accommodating than that prick. That guy makes me cringe every time I go to Cyberground.
Oh and apparently I had to work that day too... *sigh*

The Seoul PC Korean dude was chill as fuck.
You weren't there with me, Rob, and Collin. Crazy racist Koreans in the staircase...
lol Nam, I'll get you some zergs next time
Good video! IIRC the Netolic place has a fairly decently lighted area for much better interviews :D
NanMan, it's a shame that you put so much time and effort into a 24:07 video that most of the time is so dark you can't see anything. What does Ipp use when he pans the place that it's always well-lit?
The interview was great and your commentary throughout was good, but LOL @ you worrying about the pronunciation of Sonkie, when you said Avilo incorrectly a jillion times. It was cute. :D
Ummm...you weren't by any chance rooting for Luckyfool, were ya? hahaha
I have to say I really disliked this LAN mainly due to the management and if it is there again, I don't know if I am willing to lug all my equipment out there to cast it alone again. I really liked the one where we had HyperCrew/ItsGosu/and myself. All day is a lot just for 1 person.

Guys you should chill, he is like the only one running the place and after all he is running a business. If you go to CG often you will learn that he is a very nice guy.
