yeah, i'm also genuinely stunned that many people including Jaedong haven't noticed this. It seems super obvious to me, and i've used the visual cue to realize goliath range is done basically since BW came out

That's amazing that people just didn't notice this. It was so clear to me initially when i first picked up the game.

And yes, goliaths are the only unit with a visual change.

This is the reason why after 26 years this game is amazing. I also never really paid attention to that. It's pretty cool to think of such a small detail like that, development art at its finest.

Out of all attack upgrades, goliath range is the most visually distinctive. Actually it may be the only one lol. The un-upgraded version looks so ugly in comparison, that's how I recognised in the first place.

It's always been like this.

I guess it makes sense if you don't play Protoss or Terran. Not a lot of air mech play vs Zerg. It's how you know range was completed and you play more carefully once you see it. I was always super aggro with carriers vs Goliaths before their range completed. But for a pro gamer this is inexcusable.

I've noticed it unconsciously. Like I've noticed the color change but it just never registered to me that it was because of the range upgrade lol.
