So after you end up seeing what it is, think back to at what point you figured it out. ^^
Anyways lets start the game!
I start at the top position on Python (yes python again). + Show Spoiler [Stupid Tangent] +
Omg whenever Python gets to be MOTW I just want to punch a squirrel in its stupid little squirrel face. I mean I think the MOTW system on the whole is a really cool idea but fuck it’s not like people need any more reasons to play on that map.
White, along with yellow, is the worst colour to have with zerg. Thank God for Shift-Tab-Tab that allows me to be the only-slightly-mediocre teal.
Looking to settle into a longer game, I go for a 12 hatch.
A hatchery before the pool? There must be some kind of mistake.
Still, I don’t want too long of a game so I take my gas and opt for a 2 hatch build.
Shut up I know 2 hatch muta is a perfectly standard build that can transition into a perfectly standard macro game. I know, you were thinking it, Mr. Liquidian!
When I hit 100
I’m sorry but lairs arent that funny. Carry on sir.
My lair is seconds from completion but there’s an scv in my base. I’ve got a few lings chasing it but unfortunately they don’t have speed and it’s actually possible to scout zerg in this game. I cross my fingers and hope he’s awful.
My prayers are answered and he loses his scv instantly. He reminds me that I’m lucky for him being awful.
With the scv dead I’m free to continue the quest for my unit of choice.
I apologize
I don’t usually get into games that go somewhat late but I heard once that upgrades are pretty good. Idk though.
No its not an evo chamber all-in. But it should be getting increasingly clear!
Just more tools for the guessing game. The extractor has been taking improv lessons from the lair but its not going too well.
Queens Nest finishes and I get to work on my Hive while also starting +1 carapace.
I couldn't find the Liquipedia passage that says to get hive at 24 food but I’m pretty sure its in there.
I just have 5 sunkens because he only has two barracks complete with an almost-done factory and it’s important not to overreact.
“Ready to lick, sir” - Sunken Colonies
I try to run my lings around to delay his attack some more.
What? No my sunkens alongside 12 lings couldn’t have handled those 9 marines. I needed to stall.
If there’s anyone who hasn’t figured out what I’m doing yet, here it is.
Fine, one more hint: It’s Ultralisks.
His little army is still out on the map but I park my lings outside his base so he can’t straight-up rally over.
Nine lings. That’ll show him.
Finally my precious Ultralisk Cavern is complete. I start Chitnous Plating and 4 ultras, with a 5th to join soon.
No I would never forget to edit out the replay bar! And I certainly wouldn’t do it again in the next picture!
My little ling squad finally gets cleared out by his firebat taskforce.
“Ling Busters! nananananana” - Firebats
I see him erecting a bunker out front of my base. I’m in no imminent danger and my ultralisk imba-armour is going to come online in just a moment. The only rational decision is to just wait for it.
My D-Senses, however, told me that the bunker would make a world of difference against my ultra/ling army.
The D-Senses are, of course, way too powerful so I go in for the attack.
The bunker finished before my ultras got in melee range anyway T_T.
I clean up most of the army with 3 ultras still standing.
I actually end up losing one of those ultras
At this point terran is spamming mines all over the place. With a low-econ, pure melee army, this a bit problematic.
But don’t worry, I have giant 200 gas minsweepers.
There’s no really scary air units for terran so its not a problem that I can’t shoot up or make anything that shoots up. Right?
“What? Units go inside that and then can come out in my base?” I actually never end up dealing with the thing.
It turns out my minesweepers were just a bit too good so they were almost dead by the time I got to his base.
And a few were fully dead by the time I got to his army.
I’ve got some zerglings (now featuring crack!) trickling in but I’m pretty much cleaned up at this point.
It turns out cracklings aren’t quite as unfair as I thought they were when I played terran.
The only thing left is some end-of-game friendly banter.
Finally I officially concede the game and call the GG, thus concluding the my first ever loss battle report. :D
Okay now for some srs bsns. I don’t want to entirely abandon the ultra rush quite yet. I’m thinking a bit more lings for backstab with less sunkens? Perhaps more importantly than “more” lings would be “lings actually positioned for backstab instead of chillin in my main and going for the runaround when his shit’s actually at my base.” Any help appreciated.
Also, don’t forget about the guessing game! How did you guys do? I feel it might have been given away at the evo chamber, if not the queens nest (could have still been queens though!)
Hope you enjoyed. ^^
