Earlier today I was dying to cheeses on ladder which put me on tilt and reaffirmed my belief that ladder is a terrible way to practice. After dying to a 6 pool where I scouted my opponent last and he called me terrible afterward, I was so fed up that I decided to start 5 gating every game vs zerg and terran. Take that, ladder cheesers who make me rage!
The result? Both of my zerg opponents I played with this were extremely well mannered and said gg before they left. Now I feel like a terrible, terrible person T_T
Ah well, I'll remember their names and make sure I play a macro game the next time I match them!

You know, sometimes it seems like a terrible place to practice, but my view is that cheese practice is important as well. that being said, I still hate it also. This is why I cannot bring myself to hit that little button most of the time. I know the frustration. Oh well. I feel bad when I cheese someone also. I almost want to apologize, but then if you do you know they will think you are being BM and not really mean it and it will just frustrate them more.

Whenever I go on tilt after losing like 5 games in a row I just feel like baneling busting the hell out of the next opponent but I always manage to talk myself out of it because it doesn't really make me feel much better.
I just remind myself that I don't ladder to win but rather to improve and the frustration just comes with that. Plus I feel good after playing a nice macro game where I can look at the replay and point out what I can improve rather then all-in'ing and saying, well thanks for the 20 points!
Whenever I get cheesed I don't really worry about it, I just try to think of a way to deal with it the next time; a lot of the time it is just a simple mistake or micro that I could have responded, and there is rarely someone that will hide their cheese so well that I couldn't respond to it anyway.
All that being said I must be pretty lucky because I've never encountered someone who has harrassed me after any game :D Every now and then get another friendly guy and just discuss the game and where we felt we had it or lost it.
do you still gg whenever you get cheesed? Just curious o:

I get 6pooled enough on ladder to build my pylon+1st gate near my nexus
And hey, a win is a win
|
I remember this Zerg sent a bunch of speedlings at my base and I called him a cheesy loser. I watched the replay and it turned out to be a 14 pool. I felt bad afterwards.
|
my view is if you lose to cheese it's because you're being too greedy
|
Losing to cheeses = terrible way to practice, or getting on tilt = terrible way to practice? Cheeses are going to happen all the time in tournaments as well, better get used to it. Also what opening were you doing to lose to 6 pool?
|
Losing to cheese which causes me to tilt and start cheesing, which means no macro games all day. Then at the end I realize I was supposed to work on my minimap awareness and multitasking which I can't really do if I'm doing a 1 base allin every game.
I was going my usual 9 pylon scout, 13 gate, 15 gas opening in pvz but scouted my 6 pooling opponent last. In panic, I told the wrong probe to wall my front and the few seconds it took for me to realize my mistake was enough for the lings to run in. Oh yeah the other game that annoyed me was when I scouted OC and no gas on cross positions shakuras, which means 1 rax CC 99% of the time because you're not supposed to get the OC if proxying, so I went 1 gate nexus and lost my first stalker to marines rallied to my ramp from proxy raxes.

If you build your second gas before zealot you'll likely die to a 6 pool. Its a really greedy thing to do if you havent scouted him yet but thats gonna be my guess. ^^
Edit: Guessed too late. Also was wrong. TT

I wish all the gold/platinum ladder-ers felt the same!
Two nights ago I was 6pooled in zvz. But it was very badly done and I easily won. I'm on top of the world.
The NEXT game I get 6pooled again, but this time it was done quite well and I was murdered. Frown town. Different opponent, but still just as annoyed.
And then a few hours ago my opponent did a blind 3 rax allin. Despite being a little peeved I still said gg. Maybe the starcraft fairy will notice my acts and grant me good mannered cheesers!

it's because when you cheese you need to follow it up with shit talking
it's a 2 step process and if you're missing one then you're not doing it right

It's possible to hold off 6-pool without walling the ramp?

to be honest I am surprised more people don't make pylon and gateway at the ramp, it is more economical and you can just make a 2nd gate and core at your ramp to prevent getting owned by mass speedling
