Contains a few spoilers!
I’m writing this just after Shine beat Saint on Harmony. Watching your favorite player lose is hard enough, but knowing how much potential he has to succeed makes it even harder to stomach. Before this match Saint was 2-0 in Proleague against July and 815. In those games he showed how he can bang with top players despite spending so many years in relative obscurity.
Many of you may be unfamiliar with Saint and even those that do know of him probably know very little. Saint first came into the scene in mid ‘05. In his first five matches he earned a 3-2 record vs. the likes of the then very hyped Canata and a dominate GoRush. He instantly became an active contributor on MBC Hero (then POS) and has since then helped them gain many team awards such as their first place victory in the 2006 Sky Proleague Final. Saint contributed the most in the past few PL seasons as the constant 2v2 player for MBC, and with his many victories with players like Bisu, Jaehoon, and Light he made a name for himself as one of the top 2v2 Zerg players.

The Dynamic Duo.
At the end of last season Saint fans got to see something we had not seen in a long time, Saint playing a 1v1 match. With strong play vs. BestGod on the Protoss favored map Katrina, Saint helped lead MBC Hero to the ACE match vs. STX Soul. Sadly MBC was not able to walk away with the victory but Saints fans still received the treat of watching him play a long overdue 1v1.
Now many of you are probably curious why anyone would write about Saint when you have more dominating Zerg players out their such as Jaedong and Luxury. In 2006 I was a relative novice to the progaming scene having just learned of Team Liquid. I was captivated by the fact that there were many leagues out there and very talented players that played the game in a way I had never seen before having been a UMS and 0Clutter/Fastest player before coming to TL.net. Around the time the I learned of the proscene in Korea the WCG Korea Finals had just finished and a big upset had occurred, Savior, right after his Pringles MSL win had lost 2-1 to an unknown player, Saint.

What a cutie.
Knowing how strong and dominating Savior was at this time I was eager to learn more about a player that could take down Savior. I read the live report thread and I kept Saint in the back of my mind while I continued to follow the proscene.
Having dial-up around this time I was unable to watch Saint falter in the Survivor tournament. After a dismal showing in the Survivor tournament Saint came back with a vengeance and went 2-0 against Canata and Zeus in the early part of the '07 Proleague. After a hot start Saint hit a rough patch and went 0-4 in his next 4 matches and disappeared from MBC's Proleague line up. For 3 months nothing was heard of him until he was seen playing Minor League matches for MBC and 2v2ing for MBC.
Being able to watch Saint play again was a treat for me. Despite having many temporary favorites Saint remained the constant.
With Saint's return to the MBC PL roster he brought a incredible talent in 2v2. He went 8-3 in the '07 PL season and showed he was not gone forever. With incredible team work with his fellow MBC teammates he helped MBC win many matches and helped MBC secure a podium finish in the '07 season.
So far this season he has shown his micro talents from his 2v2 days with his incredible comeback vs. 815 on Medusa and that he can still bang with the top ZvZers in the world. His ZvP and ZvT has yet to be really tested this season so we will have to wait and see how he fairs.

Fresh off his win vs. July
Saint is not a widely know player, he is not the best and he may never be. But he has done something that no other player has ever done for me. His matches make me stay up late on school nights, anticipate his next match days before it happens, cheer loudly at 3 am when he wins and go to sleep downtrodden and sad when he losses. Saint is a one of a kind player, he shows grace and humility when he wins or losses, shows excitement and passion no matter the outcome of the match. He is a true team player and a staple for MBC. He is a hyung for his younger teammates and a leader for his whole team.
With the '08 PL season just starting and plenty of 1v1 matches available hopefully Saint's fans can be treated to a frequent showing of his 1v1 talents. Cheers and good luck Dong Hyun.

One big happy family.
Note - As I was writing this MBC was in a close match with OGN, it came down to the Ace match and MBC sent Saint out on Medusa vs type-b, Saint was victorious bringing his PL record this season to 3-1 and securing MBC Hero the victory.
