traceurling: Hi, thanks for setting time aside for this interview. Can you start off by telling us about yourself and your history as a mapmaker?
CrystalDrag: Hmmm.... I am Korean-American living in Texas, Junior in High school I have been mapping for quite a while. I silently kept to myself while stalking BWMN, which was when i was about... 8th grade?
I did quite a lot of my own stuff before realizing other things. (ex. Making inverted ramps for jungle wayy back then T_T) My very first map, but second posted, Fighting Arena, showed all my knowledge prior to joining the BWMN community back in 2010 or 2011... Custom terrain, blendings, extensive tile editing, and excessive decoration... Ever since then, i have changed my mapping style to being more creative with my main/expansion layouts, as to not reflect on countless boring ones already created. I recently supply utilities and articles for newer mappers and the TL community.
traceurling: Any thoughts on the BWMN Open? How it's going and what could be improved?
CrystalDrag: First, much thanks to L3gendary for hosting this tournament, and for Freakling for making the effort to get the BWMN community more noticed ^^
I really like the BWMN, gives us map makers more recognition as well as feedback, and in turn gives the players alternative maps to player rather than fighting spirit or BGH. I try to watch the streams as often as i can, but i always watch them afterwards if i miss it. ^_^
Perhaps the organization of the tournament? L3gendary and whoever updates the liquidpedia page does really good jobs, but things such as no define time of casts (due to tech. errors most of the time) and also i feel like the replay submission might be shaky (though i never get to see them T_T) However everything else going very good. :D
traceurling: Have you learned anything about your map from this tourney?
CrystalDrag: Some players said the third was hard to get... But I was very glad when this map did not have as many proxy/cheese games on it, instead having very nice epic games. Made me feel very accomplished.
traceurling: Many people seem to dislike playing on foreigner maps. Do you think this is a major problem? How so? And how can it be overcome?
CrystalDrag: I do think it is a major problem. When the players become accustomed to one specific map, they cannot adjust to others. Even build orders can be attributed to certain maps.
No idea how this can become overcome. The only thing i would think about if how Flash played SCI, based on instinct. Flash would study the map beforehand (i read somewhere) and figure out how to use the map to his advantage.
traceurling: Do you think there will be another tournament featuring BWMN maps? If so anything in particular you'd like to see in it?
CrystalDrag: Of course there will be!

We make more maps ya knoww...
I would like to see the same enthusiasm for this one, how many players enrolled, all that stuff ^^ Also what would be nice was for more newer mapers to invent something to contribute
traceurling: I think that's all there is for this interview. Thanks for your time! Any shout outs or last comments?
CrystalDrag: Hmmm... shout outs go to all the players/organizers/watchers of this Tournament. :D Big ones to Freakling and L3gendary. ^^
Last Comments?...
Hopefully ICCUP will see these new maps, and finally change their mappool. :D?
And any interested mappers...
