Custom hotkey issue in HotS (and WoL) campaign

jarhead271 United States160 Posts March 13 2013 00:19 GMT #1 I noticed this issue a bit in the WoL campaign. Was really hoping a fix would be in place with HotS, but no. Basically the game just ignores some of my custom hotkeys. For instance I have one of Kerrigan's special attacks mapped to 'r' in my custom hotkeys, but no matter what I do, it stays at 'q' when in-game. Am I missing something, or is there a known work-around for this? I have quadruple confirmed the custom hotkey I have set, even left the game/program, reloaded, restarted the mission, nothing. Thanks in advance for the help.

Inoshishi Canada29 Posts March 13 2013 04:45 GMT #2 I just noticed the same problem, u rebound Q to patrol for mutliplayer but when i try to rebind kinetic blast to anything else it still says Q in the game and the button i change it to doesn't work :/

Son of Gnome United States777 Posts March 13 2013 04:57 GMT #3 I had the same issue, just run with it as q until the next mission then change it. That's what I did and so far its working just fine.

Cyro United Kingdom20326 Posts March 13 2013 06:09 GMT #4 The hotkeys go all weird if you have ANYTHING bound multiple times.. Make a new profile. I set camera hotkeys to f1, f2, f3, it played really weird and the game would remove my settings until i got rid of the conflict in f1, f2, f3 to select hero 1, 2, 3 that i didnt know existed before

dpurple Turkmenistan592 Posts March 13 2013 19:54 GMT #5 Yea same problem, I have A for roach but it stays R in campaign, and muta is R for me so I have to click it instead. Also have attack on E and I cant move kerrigans heal so have to mouse click that too. "Supreme" mission got really hard for me cos of that :p

eburnsdaniel United Kingdom69 Posts March 14 2013 00:59 GMT #7 I had the problem whereby I rebound Attack from 'A' to 'E' but blizzard wants to use QWE for Kerrigans main powers. So the Primal Heal hotkey wasnt available and there is no option to rebind it. I got 2/3 through on brutal without using it but at one point it became practically impossible and I had to resort to default

MugenXBanksy United States479 Posts March 14 2013 03:09 GMT #8 i was having problems with hotkeys and not being able to select units or buildings with my custom hotkeys setup had to go to default and will deal with this shit later. I spent like a half hour fiddling with my hotkeys still couldn't get it going soo i rage quit and went to default :/

Cyro United Kingdom20326 Posts March 15 2013 08:18 GMT #10 Custom hotkeys just dont work very well, i'd reccomend using default, maybe completely unbind some things (select kerrigan defaults to f1 - if you set something to f1 it wont alert you to a hotkey conflict and both commands will break or one will prioritise) It only takes a second to jump between hotkey profiles so that's good at least

SixtusTheFifth New Zealand170 Posts March 15 2013 08:52 GMT #11 All the spells and abilities have a default set in the map editor. These can be over-ridden only by finding the unitID and abilityID in the map editor, and manually adding them to the .SC2Hotkeys file. Blizzard have set the front end to allow access to some abilities, but not all. Those screen shots above for instance change Kerrigan's keys in later missions, but not the early ones. This post has some of the HotS keys you need.
