Group A Winner:
hyvaa“I was able to play comfortably because my opponent was Flash”

Q: How do you feel about receiving a GG from
Flash?A: Because my opponent was Flash, I was able to rather play comfortably. I’m very happy that I was able to beat Flash. I’ve played against him 3 times so far and didn’t show my best performance, so I wanted to win this time. I think that’s why there was a good result.
Q: How was the game?
A: I thought the game would be hard for me because I lost my first Overlord, but it became easy when Flash’s army was stuck at 6 o’clock.
Q: Did you kill the 6 o’clock units late on purpose?
A: I didn’t have a lot of units myself in the beginning so I wanted to kill them without too much loss. I had to make the situation good for me to fight in the small entrance, so I thought it was good to leave them and make the Terran get supply stuck as well.
Q: When were you certain of your victory?
A: I gained a lot of profit when I delayed his 5 o’clock expansion so much. I thought I would win if I just played calmly, but Flash was better than I thought he was. I couldn’t let my guard down until the end.
Q: You concentrated on macro rather than teching. You didn’t make a Defiler
A: My opponent went for early upgrades, so I wanted to delay his gas expansion timing and since Match Point is a 2-player map anyways, I thought it would be better to be aggressive. I delayed my Hive timing and focused on units. Terran has to make Goliaths and Tanks to compose a mechanic army, but because I delayed the gas timing, I knew it was hard for him and because mechanic army gets exponentially stronger as size grows, I tried not to let that happen.
Q: Not too many people predicted that you would win against Flash
A: I think I gained a lot of confidence from that game. I read a lot of good articles online recently as well. I read what iloveoov,
Nal_rA, and Boxer said and I was eager to win against a strong player. That helped a lot in settling my mind.Q: Your future goals and resolutions?
A: My next opponent is
Kwanro and since I’m always confident in ZvZ and because I will drop out from the league if I lose, I’ll play it thinking that I must win. I hope Kwanro beats Kal so that I can get a rematch with him as well.Q: Anything else?

Really for helping me practice and my coach broke his dish today morning and I wondered if it was a sign that I will beat Flash. My friends also cheer a lot for Starleagues, but one of them said they dreamed about me dying. Since dreams are opposite, I was able to win because of that dream. - 이영호에게 GG를 받아낸 소감은
▲ 상대가 이영호 선수라서 오히려 마음을 편하게 먹을 수 있다. 이영호를 상대로 이겨서 너무 기쁘고 좋다. 여태까지 이영호 선수랑 3번 했었는데 모두 경기력이 안 좋아서 이번에는 잘해보고 싶은 마음이 컸고 그래서 결과가 잘 나온 것 같다.
- 경기는 어땠나
▲ 첫 오버로드가 잡히면서 게임이 힘들어지겠구나 생각했는데 다행히 이영호 선수의 병력이 6시에 갇히면서 경기하기가 편했던 것 같다.
- 6시 병력을 일부러 늦게 잡은 것인지
▲ 당시에 내 병력이 충분히 많은 편도 아니었기 때문에 나중에 최대한 피해를 보지 않으면서 잡고 싶었다. 어쨌든 그 좁은 입구로 들어가면서 서로 병력을 잃는 상황을 만들어야 하는데 그냥 놔두면 테란은 서플라이도 소모되고 여러 모로 괜찮을 거라고 생각해서 최대한 살려두고 싶었다.
- 승리를 확신한 순간은
▲ 5시 멀티를 가져가려고 했을 때 내가 이영호 선수의 커맨드센터를 파괴하면서 이득을 많이 봤다. 그 때부터 침착하게 하면 이길 수 있겠다고 생각은 했는데 역시 이영호 선수가 생각 이상으로 잘하시더라. 끝까지 방심할 수 없었다.
- 테크보다는 물량에 집중한 경기였다. 디파일러도 뽑지 않았는데
▲ 상대가 업테란이었기 때문에 최대한 가스 멀티를 늦게 주고 싶었고 매치포인트가 어차피 2인용 맵이기 때문에 수비적이기보다는 공격적으로 하는 게 좋다고 생각해서 하이브도 늦추고 물량 위주로 운영했다. 메카닉 테란은 골리앗과 탱크를 뽑아야 하는데 상대에게 가스 멀티를 늦게 줬기 때문에 힘들 거라고 예상했고 메카닉은 병력이 쌓이면 쌓일수록 강해지니까 그렇게 모이지 않게끔 만들려고 노력했다.
- 이영호를 이길 거라고 예상한 사람이 많지 않은데
▲ 이영호 선수를 이기면서 자신감이 많이 생길 것 같다. 또 최근에 인터넷을 통해 좋은 글귀를 많이 봤다. 특히 SK텔레콤 워크숍에서 최연성 코치, 강민 해설, 임요환 선수 등등이 했다는 말을 듣고 ‘나도 강한 상대를 만나서 설레고 싶다’는 생각을 했다. 그래서 마음가짐에 도움이 많이 된 것 같다.
- 앞으로의 목표와 각오는
▲ 다음에 한상봉 선수와 하게 됐는데 평소에 자신 있어하던 저그전이기 때문에 자신 있고 지면 탈락이기 때문에 꼭 이겨야 한다는 마음가짐으로 임하겠다. 한상봉 선수는 김구현 선수를 꼭 좀 이겨줘서 앞으로 편하게 재경기를 하고 싶다.
- 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 신맵을 연습하느라 바쁜데 틈틈이 도와준 상우형에게 고맙고 오늘 아침에 서기수 코치님이 그릇을 깼는데 이영호 선수를 깰 수 있는 징조가 아닌가 싶었다. 또 요즘 친구들이 스타리거라고 많이 응원해 주는데 한 친구가 내가 죽는 꿈을 꿨다고 했다. 꿈은 반대라고 해서 오늘 그 꿈 때 때문에 이긴 것 같다. 친구 (진)민선이에게 고맙다는 말을 전하고 싶다. 또 신동주라는 친구가 있는데 연습하느라고 어제 생일에 못 가서 미안하다는 말도 하고 싶다.

Q: How do you feel about your 2nd win?
A: Although it’s my first OSL, I’m glad that my chance of going to Ro8 has increased. I definitely want to advance to Ro8.
Q: You’ve been beating a lot of strong players lately
A: First of all, I think I’m getting lucky. I still think that I lack a lot of skills, but oddly, I do well in televised matches.
Q: How did you prepare for your game against
Hwasin?A: I wanted a revenge for losing to him a while ago and I was also determined to work harder.
Q: People have been comparing you to
Flash a lotA: I’m happy about that. I’ve practiced with Flash a lot recently, but I really don’t have enough skills. I must improve my skills.
Q: You showed some great multitasking
A: I like to harass in TvT. I thought that it would work because Hwasin probably hasn’t played a lot of games like that. Making Wraiths to stop Hwasin’s push helped me greatly in defending.
Q: Can we expect you to do well in Proleague?
A: I haven’t been doing well in Proleague so I’m sorry for my coaching staff, but I’ll do my best to win R4.

- 2승을 거둔 소감은
▲ 처음으로 스타리그에 올라왔는데 8강에 올라갈 확률이 높아져서 기분 좋다. 꼭 8강에 갔으면 좋겠다.
- 최근 강자들을 줄줄이 깨고 있는데
▲ 일단 운이 좋은 것 같다. 실력은 아직 많이 부족하다고 생각하는데 이상하게 방송 경기에서 잘 풀리고 있는 것 같다.
- 진영수를 상대로 어떻게 준비했나
▲ 예전에 졌던 기억 때문에 복수하겠다는 각오가 있었고 조금 더 열심히 해야겠다는 각오가 있었다.
- 이영호와 비교하는 이야기도 자주 나오는데
▲ 그런 부분에서는 좋은 것 같다. 최근에 영호형이랑 연습을 많이 해봤는데 아직 많이 부족한 것 같다. 실력을 더 쌓아야 한다.
- 뛰어난 멀티태스킹을 선보였는데
▲ 원래 테란전에서 견제를 많이 하는 편이다. 진영수 선수가 그런 스타일에 많이 안 당해봐서 크게 휘둘린 것 같다. 또 레이스를 모았던 판단이 진영수 선수의 러시를 막는데 큰 도움이 된 것 같다.
- 프로리그에서도 기대해도 되는지
▲ 그동안 이상하게 프로리그에서 잘 못했는데 코칭스태프에게 죄송하게 생각하고 4라운드에서는 잘 이길 수 있도록 하겠다.
- 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 쉬는 날인데도 연습을 도와준 김동원 선수와 강정우 선수에게 고맙다는 말을 하고 싶다.

A: I have been doing well in OSL Ro16 so I thought maybe I’ll do well this time too, but because
Calm is very strong, I wasn’t too confident.Q: You’re very close to Calm in real life, so was the more burdening?
A: Although it did burden me, I wanted to win because I was too behind in opponent records.
Q: The game was decided by 1 rush after same openings
A: I was insecure rushing with Zerglings. It was before Mutalisks popped out, so I would have lost if I didn’t break the Hatchery. I don’t know if it’s
Kwanro’s doing, but I wanted to play aggressively for once. Because I play safely most of the times, I feel like I was analyzed a lot and because my opponent knew me too well, I wanted to do something different.Q: You dropped out of MSL
A: I want to take that as someone telling me to try harder in OSL. However, it’s still disappointing.
Q: Proleague R4 starts soon as well
A: I’m confident. I will do better myself and because my teammates are doing just as well too, we’ll be able to show good results.

A: Calm told me that he was hurt from playing soccer the other day. He told me that he came back from the hospital today, and I hope he recovers quickly and shows good performance once again.

- 2승을 거둔 소감은
▲ 스타리그 16강에서 잘해왔기 때문에 이번에도 잘할 수 있지 않을까 싶었는데 김윤환 선수가 굉장히 잘하기 때문에 자신하지는 못했다.
- 김윤환과 굉장히 친한 걸로 아는데 부담스럽지 않았나
▲ 부담도 됐지만 상대 전적에서 너무 뒤쳐져 있기 때문에 꼭 이기고 싶었다.
- 똑 같은 빌드에서 한 타로 승부가 갈렸는데
▲ 저글링 러시를 가면서도 불안했다. 뮤탈이 뜨기 직전이라서 상대 앞마당 해처리를 못 깨면 지는 상황이었기 때문이다. 상봉이의 영향인지는 모르겠는데 이번에는 한 번 공격적으로 해보고 싶었다. 평소에 안정적으로 하다 보니까 많이 읽힌 것 같기도 하고 상대가 워낙 나를 잘 알기 때문에 다르게 해보고 싶기도 했다.
- MSL에서는 탈락했는데
▲ 얼마 전 MSL에서 떨어졌는데 스타리그에 집중하라는 식으로 긍정적으로 받아들이고 싶다. 하지만 아쉽긴 아쉽다.
- 프로리그도 곧 4라운드 시작인데
▲ 자신 있다. 나도 더 잘할 거고 팀원들도 다 잘하고 있으니까 좋은 결과를 낼 수 있을 것 같다.
- 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 윤환이가 축구를 하다가 미간을 다쳐서 꿰맸다고 하더라. 오늘도 병원에 갔다 왔다고 들었는데 얼른 나아서 좋은 모습 보여줬으면 좋겠고 좋은 경기 했으면 좋겠다.

A: First, I’m happy that my chance of advancing to Ro8 has increased, but since it’s only the first stage, I will try harder to rise even higher.
Q: You won rather easily
A: I thought go.go would try something in the early game so I didn’t expand quickly and that worked out really well.
Q: Your Tank micro against Mines was good
A: It was luck (laughs). I thought it would explode as well, but it didn’t blow up.
Q: Go.go even built a hidden Starport
A: I predicted that as well. I knew he would try either cloaked Wraiths or Dropships, so I was ready for both of them.
Q: Your next opponent is
ShineA: Because I’m always confident in TvZ and because I like Match Point, I think I will be able to win. I will go through Ro16 with 3 wins. I realized this during the group ceremony as well, but my group seems easier than the other groups so I thought that as long as I prepared well, I wouldn’t have a hard time advancing.
Q: Proleague R4 is about to begin
A: I did so badly in R1 and R2, but since my senses have come back, I will raise my win count in R4 and R5.
Q: You are the only one who didn’t smile during the Winner’s League finals picture
A: No. I smiled. I hate losing against the same person multiple times and I was upset because I thought there was always that 1 player who did that to me, but I was happy that my team won and I smiled as well (laughs).

- 16강에서 2승을 거뒀는데
▲ 일단 8강에 갈 확률이 높아져서 기쁘고 아직 첫 단계일 뿐이니까 더 높이 올라갈 수 있도록 열심히 노력해야 할 것 같다.
- 생각보다 어렵지 않게 승리를 거뒀는데
▲ 김창희 선수가 초반에 뭔가 할 것 같아서 일부러 더블 커맨드를 하지 않고 준비했는데 잘 먹힌 것 같다.
- 마인을 수비하는 탱크의 컨트롤이 좋았는데
▲ 그냥 운이다.(웃음) 나도 터질 줄 알았는데 안터지더라.
- 김창희가 몰래 스타포트까지 건설했는데
▲ 그것도 예상했다. 드랍이나 클로킹 레이스 둘 중에 하나를 할 것 같았고 다 대비하고 있었다.
- 다음 상대는 이영한인데
▲ 저그전은 원래 자신 있고 매치포인트도 좋아하는 맵이라서 이길 수 있을 것 같다. 3승으로 16강을 뚫겠다. 조지명식 때도 생각했는데 우리 조가 다른 조보다 쉬운 것 같아서 준비만 잘 하면 쉽게 올라갈 수 있겠다고 생각했다.
- 곧 프로리그 4라운드가 시작되는데
▲ 1, 2라운드 때는 너무 못했는데 4, 5라운드는 방송 감각도 다시 돌아온 만큼 최대한 많은 승수를 쌓고 싶다.
- 위너스리 결승 때 사진에서 혼자 웃지 않았다는 얘기가 있다
▲ 아니다. 웃었다. 원래 한 선수에게 계속 지는 걸 무척 싫어하는데 그런 선수가 계속 생기는 것 같아서 속상하긴 했지만 팀이 우승해서 좋았고 웃기도 했다.(웃음)
- 하고 싶은 맣이 있다면
▲ 연습을 도와준 팀 내 테란들에게 고맙다는 말을 하고 싶다.
