Primitive stacking (working towards more advanced stacking) Moving shot only if facing the direction of the target
One thing I need to fix though is that it kinda just sits there and lets itself die if left unattended and marines shoot its arse (it only shoots the direction its facing). This happens under special circumstances, where if the marines are in range of the mutas, and the mutas have stopped and are facing the other way, the mutas won't shoot. If the marines are out of range of the mutas, the mutas are in aquisition range, but not attack range, the mutas will go up to the marines and attack ok.
I think I need to implement a second weapon that will turn the mutas and shoot when it has stopped. This is kinda problematic because I don't want both weapons firing at once. This is my next milestone
Since I started working on a shmup using SC2 Galaxy Editor, I got inspired after seeing how people were upset about micro in SC2.
So I went ahead and started tweaking numbers to see if I could re-implement mutalisk stacking and micro for SC2. I have spent about 10 minutes tweaking numbers so far, and hope to work on it again some time later in the week. (Bit busy at the moment)
I have been reasonably happy with the results. I was never really that good at muta micro in SC1 so I'm sure other people could do this better.
Hopefully this might serve as a confidence booster for those who want SC1 style micro in SC2, and maybe (just a little) help blizzard with the communication barrier between us and them and what we mean.
Keep in mind, this does NOT use the "attack while moving" flag it actually stops but if you move at the right time it keeps going, so it is more true to SC1's "animation cancelling" type of micro
Note: This is for NORMAL speed. I will soon adjust this for faster speed.
Glaive Wurm: Allowed Movement: None <<< Important Backswing: 0 Options: Can initiate Attack, Only fire at attack target, Only fire while attacking Period: 1.5 Random Delay Maximum: 0 Random Delay Minimum: 0 Range Slop: 0
That should be it
**** After modifying the data this is how you do it **** Patrol/Attack-move to desired location (patrol seems to work better for me), click move at the right time and the mutalisks will attack then move. This is like my 100th recording so it took a while before i got the hang of it.
hahaha first the chat lobby UMS, now this. TL might make a better SC2 than blizzard. Although I gotta say, this look really different from SC1 muta micro. It looks like your mutas are stopping before they attack, and then just very quickly turning around and accelerating away. Mutas in SC1 were kind of slow to accelerate if they stopped.
I think that if mutalisk stacking is carried over--to some extent--as in Brood War, it could be very overpowered, given that you can control one group of all of your mutalisks (or other air units) at a time. Keeping tinkering with stuff though, I like the direction you're going. Maybe Blizz will take the hint.

Ahh I see thanks, ill have a look at that and see if i can fix it. Cheers.
Then again if you do it right, it doesn't stop at all. I'm just not very good at it.

Nah. Archons and Thors can decimate stacked Mutas.
EDIT: Once again, let this be a message to Blizzard that, "You're doing it wrong!".

^ That's the thing, the attack rate in SC1 was much slower but the damage was higher (i think), I changed the rate of fire to make it slower (its also in normal speed) to see if it was beneficial after that.
nice, tough as a terran, thats how I like the muta's the most, nice and close stacked together so I can A: aoe them with thor or B: with seeker missle =P

I think they stop only because he, as stated in the original post, wasn't doing it that well. Once in a while you see it works perfectly. But perhaps finding a way to add a slower acceleration to better balance it out, and make it only something a person with great macro can pull off.
About fact that one control grouped mutas would be op in SC2, then I think Archons (if buffed a little perhaps) and the current Thors would counter that tactic perfectly. Stacking Mutalisks against a Terran with Thors would be a losing strategy and will balance this out easily I think.
I think in order to compensate you should slow down the actual mutalisk flying speed. They seem alot faster than their SC1 counterparts and that could be pretty imba.
Other than that looks fantastic.. *please Blizzard!*

It only does dmg to one unit
I seriously watched the video again to see this. But the glaive seemed to bounce twice hitting a total of three targets and dealing damage to all of them.

Everybody said it would make broodwar imbalanced too but it didn't....people found ways to copy with it

I don't know whether or not you are ironic, but I'm kind of chocked by the fact that some people seem to believe that Blizzard engineers and technicians aren't qualified/intelligent enough to create an IRC like chat channel nor figure out what would happen after tweaking the stats of an unit.
