I just spent the better part of an hour on Matherson TR in a mani lab reclamation campaign, and we kept waiting at C with mass armor surrounding the area for the shields to go down forever.
Then when we went upstairs, we had to do the same wait game with turrets. Fucking hell, I wish I could understand what to do in the non-shooting portions of the game.

Take a look at the rest of the videos on their channel too, useful stuff.
So I picked it up and I am so confused seems like I die and everyone else takes like 5-6 shots to go down. What should I focus on upgrading first? I have been getting better but so far on Connery USwest, it's all about Tanks Tanks Tanks...

Check out the Weapon Instruction video in the Basic Training series.
For everyone's convenience, here is the whole Basic Training series of videos they put out. They do a fantastic job of answering just about any question a new player could have, as well as teaching you the things you need to know to not drive yourself or your squad/platoon/outfit/faction members insane.
The absolute MUST WATCH ones for new players: Your first hour in planetside2 Base Layouts Weapon Instruction
I played for 3 hours with the 51st regiment yesterday and man it was very nice, 4 full squadrons, a good leader giving orders to squadrons using ingame Voip and placing objective points on the map, squad leaders giving sub orders and squads being divided to different objectives, I felt this is what the game is supposed to be.
And yeah, being in those huge convoys of tanks / sundys / aircrafts is badass !
What is the policy of the US outfit(s) concerning non-TL members? Are you limiting yourself to TL-only, friends of TL members or do you take everyone?
Well, might as well make it a poll to get the general opinion:
Poll: TL Outfit Recruiting
Liquidians and friends (9)
60%
TL Members only (5)
33%
Everyone welcome (1)
7%
15 total votes
Your vote: TL Outfit Recruiting
(Vote): TL Members only (Vote): Liquidians and friends (Vote): Everyone welcome
Limiting it to TL only has the advantage that we can use this thread to communicate and we have the advantage of... well, being members of the best community on the internet, but then we are only a small group. Being open for everyone can mean that we accidently get some toxic people in but we will have more cannon fodder for the front lines. Allowing friends of liquidians means it could end up as a slippery slope towards getting friends of friends of friends of friends of liquidians in that end up being toxic players.

Press M, click the "Social" Tab, then "Friends" and add me to the friendlist (same name as TL), i'll invite you.
For others with the same question later: You can also add Finlay (zere on TL) or Dust14, they can invite you, too.

Another FPS game that tries to use memory I don't have. Wonder why every game is like this.
Maybe if its every game the problem is in the 1 common factor.

You.
No it's actually an issue with FPS games and 32 bit operating systems. You can find posts complaining about it for every recent FPS release like tribes, battlefield, planetside, etc. For some reason the games try to access all of your RAM even though some of it is in use by the OS and other system resources and causes an out of memory error because it can't access that RAM.
On my system for instance, tribes doesn't crash until I try to leave a server so it's actually playable if you stick to one gamemode/server the entire time I play. It's annoying, but playable. When it crashes because you die though ^_^
