Reagan was great. American patriotism was so fucking annoying during the Reagan years. LOL.
There seems to be a lot of whining, pissin' bitchin' and moanin' in this thread. I'd like to address it with a portion of Jimmy Carter's best speech.
One of the visitors to Camp David last week put it this way: “We’ve got to stop crying and start sweating, stop talking and start walking, stop cursing and start praying. The strength we need will not come from the White House, but from every house in America.”

There's literally an entire Wiki page dedicated to his scandals lol: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandals_of_the_Ronald_Reagan_administration
Not to mention Reaganomics, trickle-down nonsense, and enormous tax cuts for the rich. A lot of our current national issues started with / were popularized by Reagan.

yea hard to imagine what could possibly go wrong with voting a celebrity into the white house with the promise of an economic boom

Reagan was a top 3 president of the 20th century, Carter bottom three. The American people judged both men rightly the elections of '80-'88. In classic Democrat fashion, Carter was harsher on our allies than our enemies and said nice things about them even decades later. As memory of the Cold War fades, it's become more normal in center-left circles to transplant today's issues onto Reagan but basically ignore Carter (except as a criticism of Reagan e.g. 70s deregulation and memes about solar panels), if that tells you anything. He pretty much exists in today's discourse as the guy that came before (and enabled) Reagan, which shows about how good his presidency was.

Literally Donald Trump. Trade wars with allies while sucking up to Putin and other dictators. Nice.
|
nah, trade disputes among allies are not unusual. Meanwhile Trump's actions were far less Putin friendly than his rhetoric. That being said, I have always had, and always been open about, my dislike of Trump's sweettalk.

Putin said "No" to the Trump peace plan for UA.
What's trump next move?
1. Racism 2. Migrants 3. Golf 4. TV 5. Burgers

It appears that Trump is currently defending and supporting Musk's pro- "H-1B visa" stance, despite many MAGA supporters being anti-immigration and being worried about foreigners stealing American jobs. Trump claimed that he employs many people with H-1B visas, even though he didn't give any examples, and he stated that he's always liked those visas, despite trying to reduce the number of H-1B visas during his first presidential term:
President-elect Donald Trump weighed in on a simmering feud among MAGA allies over H-1B worker visas, telling the New York Post that he supports the program, according to the outlet.
Trump told the New York Post that he has “always liked the visas.” The H-1B visa program allows employers to temporarily hire non-U.S. citizens for highly skilled jobs.
“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” he said, according to the outlet’s report.
A spokesperson for the Trump transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment about which of Trump's properties employed workers who were on H-1B visas.
During his first term, the Trump administration implemented rules that would have cut the number of H-1B visas issued each year. The rules, however, were ultimately struck down in court. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-h1b-visa-program-maga-elon-musk-rcna185656

Nice to see that Trump isn’t racist after all

Trump took his cabinet pick's phones away, because the current divide on H1B Visas makes them look like a bunch of incoherent idiots.

He’s such an amazing person. I can’t wait to see what the how the next 4 years will be. It will be awesome

Trump has been hammering away at Trudeau as he falls in the polls. Trudeau fired back recently with some passive aggressive comments about America not electing a woman Prez.
I think Trudeau's best move is to play his cards straight. Let Trump be the crazy man at the poker table. Initially, that is what Trudeau did. Legault is doing that as well and never fires back.
I have to wonder if Trump, a guy who never talks about hockey, will talk about the current running world Juniors if Canada gets bounced early.
Canada has committed to all kinds of increased border security measures. Meanwhile, zero indications from Trump if these are enough to stave off tariffs. Trump holds the right Bauer and everyone at the table knows it. This is not the time for Trudeau to get fancy.
On another related Canadian/American note : kudos to Jimmy Carter for explaining how BS the movie Argo was. Carter states that 90% of the operations planning and execution was done by the Canadians and not the CIA. Props to Jimmy.

Whoa rich assholes who abuse foreign people coming over for a better life by imposing crazy hours, low pay, and holding their visa over their head to control them like that system and want it to continue/more of it!
They're all so transparent, and Trump is a moron.

Yes thank you.
I wanted to point out that Trump really needs to do overtime on finding a logic in contradicting statements from him, his team, him 4 years ago, him 8 years ago, all the shit he tells on his rallys vs all the shit he twixxors.
At the moment It's becoming very transparent to some, that he is willing to play the racists, anti-migration, nationalist, patriot, christian and working class person.. but when pressed, he reaveals that he sees need for cheaper labor, to brain-drain other countries and labor-competition amongst workers.
Setting up a shadow cabinet with billionaires.. and a real cabinet with millionaires and billionaire proteges also suggest that he isn't reaaally real about draining swamps or improving living conditions for the 99,9% non wealht aristocrats in the US.

Exactly. Trump has shown very clearly that a lot of the things that we thought people have to do, you don't really have to do. You can just not do them, and apparently people don't really care if you get them in the right mindset.
You don't have to say things that correlate with reality. You don't have to be consistent. You don't have to speak coherently. You don't need a plan that makes any sense whatsoever. You can just bullshit all day and become president of the USA.
