No kidding. I hope Greeks can have more than 2 shots (0 on goal). That was utter disappointment from Czech Republic ![]() Except against the Germans, freekicks and corners will not work that well because the German players are just as tall as Greeks

What does it change? To my knowledge both are players that wait for their team to create chances, they both have the Inzaghi style. Ofc Klose is awesome in set play, cause of his headers. Or am I wrong? Explain someone. Klose is working a lot more on the field. you can sometimes even see him at the own box fighting for the ball and then running a counter with the other players. Gomez is a much more classic 9-forward, waiting for balls close to the opponent goal. If I had to sum it up, Gomez is the better scorer, but creats less for the other players in his team. Klose on the other hand sometimes faces the criticism that he actually works too much for the team and does not focus enough on his role as a forward. Either way, he has always been awesome for the national team, so that shouldn't be a problem. Gomez has the rare unfortunate "talent" that even when he scores lots of goals, he looks kind of clumsy, and as soon as he doesn't score he sometimes looks dumb (see CL finale), and gets a lot of shit for it in germany, which I find is mostly bizarre. But we always love to burn our heros here, just to resurrect them later when we feel like it. So whatever.

Reus for Müller surprises me a lot, especially because Müller is physically stronger, but interesting choices for sure.

I think Löw wants to make sure we have fully motivated players and do not underestimate Greece. Good idea, I'd say.

Your biggest strength is your midfield. Why does everyone keep saying Boateng is decent (or worse)? He consistently performs. Even if he doesn't have an incredible amount of finessse or anything, he's a strong defender and was able to shut down Ronaldo for most of the first game. I don't recall him ever actually being a liability. Badstuber isn't bad by any means, but I wouldn't say he's on my numer one list, yet. As for the game itself, I honestly don't think that Greece has a chance (although that could be my German bias creeping in). Germany isn't like Barcelona; they are much better at cracking a turtling defense and can push the ball incredibly fast, so when Greece tries to score (which they obviously need to do as this is knockout and who the hell wants to challenge Germany in a PK shootout), they can open up the Greek defense pretty easily. I also don't see Germany getting weaker as the game goes on; they tend to score and lock the game up in the 70th-80th minute. Not only that, Germany obviously outclasses Greece skill-wise as well as being just as strong as Greece. Plus, we know that Germany really wants this and will never be a team to take something for granted or not give it 110%. I also feel like the switch in the lineup will work really well. Müller, Gomey, and Podolski have been rather uninspiring, even if they have scored the goals we've needed. While I don't think Germany should have a problem with Greece, the last three games were closer than they should have been given how good this team is (or is when they are at top form). We need a really strong showing going into a semifinal against Italy/England.

If he doesnt start doing stuff like that during Euro - I'm fine with him . Overall the German setup (Gomez, Podolski out) looks like the non-bruteforce option. Klose & Schürrle are similiar but a bit more play oriented players. I see Gomez & Podolski subbed in if Germany cannot find a way through the Greek defense with intelligent play. Müller just was not impressive during group play. Reus should have a stronger goal/shooting oriented play

IMO it's a perception thing, as he is playing defense together with Lahm, who is finally getting from just good and solid to really great again, Hummels who looks better then anyone else in the tournament (yes, including the Spanish) and Boateng who has a breakout tournament. Frankly I am quite surprised our four-man backfield defence turned out this great. Looked a lot shakier in the preperation-matches. Game prediction: Greece will defend a lot but be outclassed and loose 2-0.

He scored a lot of goals in the last Bundesliga season, and is probably the most important reason Gladbach finished in 4th place, way above expectations. After the Euro he will be transferred to Dortmund for a fee of 17.5 million €.

Podolski and Müller undoubtely played far below their expectations. Schürrle/Reus on the other hand are in perfect physical shape, their missing experience in big tourneys are a contra argument though. From the rest of the team, I think especially Özil needs to get better (Götze is lurking). And about Gomez <-> Klose, i would always prefer Klose. Anyhow, i hope for an awesome game with a lot of german goals ![]()

Nothing against his proven effectiveness, but i can't stand forwards who can't dribble 3 strides without stumbling over their own feet or forgetting the ball. Still believe Bayern Munich could do way better with a forward that fills more rolls than "being in the area, waiting to be shot at". It's more them creating stuff for him than Gomez creating chances... welp, at least they have a german on the spot. Not like we have many quality choices for the national forwards. Hope we go through, of course. And i'll be glad if Greece go out, i've seen enough of Chelsea style "hug the area with 10 men in defense and hope for a random goal" for this year of football...
