Day 9 for sure. He goes into good detail and knows what he's talking about more so then people give him credit for. He's really fun/funny to watch and can make the most boring patchups fun to watch (pvp/tvt). I watch his daily show almost every day its on :D

I thought Chill really hit the right combination of knowledge/entertainment. Day9 was a very close 2nd, and the combination of the two was just amazing to listen to thus far.

Chill and Day were both pretty good, I thought. I hope that Artosis and Tasteless make an effort to improve for the next round. I do some broadcasting of "real" sports, so I know it's not easy to follow every aspect of a competition while presenting it in an interesting fashion to your audience, but Artosis and Tasteless were just way too focused with their own view of the matches. This leads to things like missing important action because your attention is fixated on one particular area and proclaiming your assumptions regarding the course of the game to be fact without proper explanation (especially when you end up being wrong).

These things really undermine not only the message of the broadcaster, but the quality of the broadcast as a whole. If your audience thinks it knows more than the voice attached to your product, that voice becomes a hindrance rather than an enhancement. There are other areas to nitpick, but you can at least tell that they're trying, and I really think they could do a better job if they worked on the negatives. Just my two cents.

Day[9] is my favourite. Also I'm finding a lot of what Tasteless says is just plain wrong strategically. Was watching the TSL vods and I remember in game 1 of Kabal vs White-Ra he was talking about how White-Ra had a bigger army and would do all this harassment of the min only from the low ground and it was all nonsense. Kabal went gate nexus robo while Ra went gate robo nexus. They both had the exact same amount of minerals invested and the exact same army, it was a near perfect mirror. What he needed to be saying was that Kabal took an expansion 30 seconds faster than White-Ra but the expansion he took had less minerals and no gas. This meant that Kabal would get a surge of minerals before White-Ra but in the long term would be economically behind, assuming White-Ra could hold his expansion. Therefore Kabal would throw down a few gateways and attempt a timing push to break White-Ra.

Shit like that just gets under my skin. When the players are mirroring each other I get that it's boring to cast but that doesn't mean you need to make shit up about what the players are going to do. When they have the exact same number of units one of them doesn't have map control and isn't going to cross the map and do some kind of sniping harassment. There was analysis to be done. The faster high ground nexus with the few minerals and no gas versus the low ground, riskier but richer expansion. That was the story of that game and Tasteless didn't even mention it.

Chill is my favorite. He has a very pleasant voice and in my opinion he has the perfect mix between strategic talk and entertainment/jokes. That makes his duo with Day9 great since he's almost as good (I dunno, I guess I just like Chill's voice more and I feel like Day is repeating some stuff sometimes when he's not sure what to talk about. He's still great though).
I like tasteless the least of the four. Maybe I just got bored of his voice but yeah I dunno ... Also I dislike that he's getting like superexcited when a minor thing is happening. I mean okay, the probe got sniped and that's gonna put the player back but I feel he's doing that a little bit too much. The other casters of course also raise their voices sometimes but only when it's legitimate imo, like during big battles or epic storms or like really nice plays. But well, thats just my opinion ...
In any cases they're all very good and they make the games very entertaining and I thank them all a lot for that, keep up the good work !

Voting in this feels wrong, it's like picking a favorite brother.

I did end up with voting on Tasteless though, his GOM coverage was just epic and made it my favorite tournament to watch.

Second place is split between Artosis and Day[9], and Chill takes third just because I haven't heard him as much as I have heard the others.

I'd say the only thing missing with these 4 (GREAT guys btw), is the fact that no one seems to have too much knowledge about their off-races.

I mean half of these comments are ppl arguing whether Artosis or Day has the most knowledge about starcraft. Its kinda retarded since Day obviously has more knowledge about zerg and their aspects of the game while Artosis would shit all over Day's commentating on terran.
And frankly both of them have a pretty low standard casting from a protoss players point of view, thus why Tasteless actually (no matter what his 1on1 iccup skill lvl is atm) is the caster who puts focus on the actual importants in most games (ie. arbiter timings / taking the right expansions at the right time / trying to buy some time etc).

I guess it's sort of pointless to imagine someone with such a comprehensive knowledge about all 3 races, thats why they've been teamed up.

Must say I would enjoy some of the commentating going back a bit to the basics which makes it a lot easier for the casters so that they wont make obvious mistakes.

And for all of those who whine at Nick for not being funny enough. It's not like you just lose your sense of humor by default. I really hope Nick wont force it into the casting instead of letting it come naturally which I'm sure it will.

In terms of game knowledge, Day[9] and Artosis are leagues beyond the other two. Particularly, Day[9] I think is the best in terms of strategy and game analysis.

Tasteless, however, has by far the best casting voice. He also has good game knowledge and serious experience as a professional caster.

Seeing those two commentate as a team for OGN and the MSL would be a dream come true.

Also, can the next poll be about the worst Youtube caster?

How Chill has more votes than Artosis is beyond me, I can understand Chill having more than Tasteless but c'mon.

Everyone agrees they're close to each other. But Chill > Artosis seems weird to me too, Artosis has a great voice just like Chill and instead of jokes he has somewhat superior knowledge. Seems like people prefer jokes.

To those mentioning Klazart I just want to say, God he's a terrible commentator. Next to no game knowledge and I've never heard anyone sound so uber confident while being so frequently wrong. Talking quickly is just annoying and calling a blow by blow account of the action is why I have eyes. I don't need that jackass assaulting my ears with the same information.
