I understand "ban me I don't care" or is this more along the lines of "this might get me banned" and is bannable either way?

Take it in context, he said If this thread is bad, please just close it instead of banning me. Came off more as being unsure where on the moderation hierarchy opening a bad thread comes in than a martyr, IMO.

I understand "ban me I don't care" or is this more along the lines of "this might get me banned" and is bannable either way? Don't go getting cold feet now, at the apex of bann-a-geddon 2012. Remember Bruce, criminals thrive on the compassion of society. Also: Lennon was just banned by p4NDemik. That account was created on 2010-02-24 21:43:21 and had 2275 posts. Reason: That thread is not to be derailed into gender discussion for the expressed purpose of delegitimizing a player. It should have been pretty clear it has nothing to do with opinion, but I doubt you care. Whoah, a perm! Today would not be a good day to piss off the mods it would seem.

I figured it was mostly context but sometimes people give the impression that if you mention being banned you're a goner ![]()

The unsure people are fairly rare.

@TheToast: That Scarlett thread is something else for bans. I actually watched a post get nuked today. It was like watching the sun rise on a clear day.

Hardly an exceptional viewpoint, let alone ban-worthy, IMHO. Why can't there be more tolerance all around? other than the mods saying don't discuss it, the reason people call scarlett a man is to make fun of her or go the extra level and demean her and it's all just to express how incredibly witty they are on the interwebs. the problem is that it's juvenile and the overall intent is just to troll.

I think Pholon's message about 'NO MORE GENDER DISCUSSION' disappeared in the pages though, it really should be put in the mod message at the top. Right now all it says is 'no moderation/freedom of speech' discussion. Although anyone that reads through a couple pages won't miss the billion and one ban messages, there will be people that flick to the last page and post without reading. There's a mod note now. But I kind of liked Pholon's in thread approach, weeds out all the people who aren't actually reading the thread.

On April 18 2012 04:11 marttorn wrote: Why do people do that ![]() Actually, it tends to be an effort to bully mods into leaving a post up when it would otherwise get modded. It's a reasonable tactic if it's a board you get as part of a service you pay for and they have stupid mods (any game by SOE coming to mind) to remind them that you're actually a customer and that overzealous moderation is a bad thing. On a board like TL, however, it's just an insult, and gives them a reason to ban people for the post that falls outside the context of what they were trying to push down people's throats to begin with.
