I'm not a "PBU." I had to look it up to even know what that means. But I am kind of bitter reading some of the hateful comments from the first day I arrived. It shouldn't take more than 3 days to respond to clear bigotry. It doesn't really matter anymore whether it's indifference or incompetence.
It's the fact that I've seen several people bash on a country and get away with it, and as soon as someone turns around and returns the insult, they get banned, like this guy:

They didn't make any step. Tomato pasted already counted as a serving of vegetables and they were going to change it so that it didn't. It shows how easily people can be manipulated by the media that people will repeat things like "Congress declares pizza is a vegetable" when it's not even close to the truth.
No. You are wrong. Stupid americans think that pizza is a vegetable. hahaha so laughable. Dumb americans. That is why they are all so fat. Now I will go back to being from my irrelevant country with a population smaller than Mexico City.
User was temp banned for this post.
I agree with the idea of a site being heavily moderated, but if you are going to give the mods plenty of power, you also need consistency and a set of guidelines to prevent abuse or confusion.
And the whole "shut up and learn your place" is funny. I'd rather slit my wrists than to be a boot-licking conformist like your little torte de lini over there in order to get in your internet equivalent of a high school clique. I'm a little too old to be playing popularity contest in order to voice my opinion on something. You can have this account now, I won't be needing it.

There's no need for overly aggressive comments like this. Tone it down please. Take a couple days off to cool down, and when you come back, try to treat our users with a little more respect, ok?

This passage in particular:

is absolutely hilarious, kind of sounds like a goth kid. Actually, sounds exactly like a goth kid. And then you follow up with claiming maturity in this situation?
You also needlessly insulted torte de lini. Why did you needlessly insult torte de lini?
And then you martyr?!
I don't even understand exactly what you were trying to say with the last part of your post. What, ETT was saying ban-worthy stuff? Maybe if he wasn't a very well-respected member of the community, and he was talking up to somebody much more seasoned than him, he would get a temp ban/warning (though I don't presume to speak to speak for anyone there)
Either you're a PBU, or you're trolling, or you're generally just being a little dumb. I try not to directly insult anybody, but this is silly.
"Be formless. Shapeless. Like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. Put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, creep, drip or crash. Be water my friend."
Hmmm that's interesting. Almost Taoist in nature. It's a good mentality to have for this site too.
You guys are arguing with someone that believes that his own personal beliefs trump the general law of the entirety of society. Why would you even be surprised that this guy spews a narcissistic selfishness that would make Ayn Rand proud. He's basically like Frank Miller in his anti-social vigilante hero worshipping. It's a waste of time. Let him go in a corner and fantasize about being above the general sheep, that he is some kind of ubermensch - above the herd!

lol wtf? That came out of nowhere. I worshipped a hero? I don't get it.
I get that you don't like Ayn Rand or Frank Miller though. That's cool, hip.

I like to think that I was mocking, rather then arguing, but I think you're right...

edit: Congrats on 6k!
Right about Ayn Rand and Frank Miller and ubermensch?
lol you guys are really out in left field. I'm laughing in confusion haha
If you have a strong sense of justice like I do, payback is so satisfying. Of course, you have to be willing to accept the possible consequences if you don't get your revenge intelligently.
And I have never in my life given a damn about what is LEGALLY right. All I care about is what is morally and socially right
Anytime someone equates justice with vengeance, you know that person is going to be a cunt.

lol ok I get it, I guess...
But even society's punishments are forms of vengeance. We like to tell ourselves it's about things like "deterrence" or whatever. There's really nothing wrong with saying that what is legally wrong is irrelevant, and what is morally wrong is all that matters. I understand if you don't think payback is justified though.
What I'm saying really isn't that far fetched though. You see it even in daily conversation. I say something people don't like on a forum, so a bunch of people come back and say things that are not so nice to me in exchange. You don't think that's a shallow form of vengeance?
You don't think calling me a cunt and an idiot is your small little way of getting back at me, outside of the law? So you believe in it too.
Imagine a scene in a movie... The character has just been slain in battle, he only has a few precious seconds to say what he wants to say before it's all over...
And so he says his last words... but the seconds turn into minutes, and so he comes up with some more stuff to say, and an hour later he is still sitting there not dead, thinking WTF!
look there are literally tens of thousands of people who log in every day if not more, a lot of them posting at least once or more and there is only a small number of mods. the mods cant be everywhere at once and so if you see a comment that you think is out of line report it, because the mods cant be everywhere. if you have questions about warnings or bans you can come here to discuss them like you have and you get answers, maybe not the ones you want but you typically will get additional information. since you seem to be shy about posting without knowing what will get you in trouble or not i have this to say, stay civil, stay mature, and try not to take anything too personally and you should be fine.

Yeah he's part of the clique too it appears. The first day I got here, he was banned and then immediately unbanned, I guess as joke by the mods, for something that other people would probably be legitimately banned for lmao.

Wtf is this crap? This thread is about laughing at banned people and commenting on Nyovne's awesome bans. If you don't like the moderation, make a thread in Website Feedback or gtfo. The mods work really hard to keep these threads clear of crap, stop making their lives more difficult and derailing this thread.

Lol, you think? (I like Ayn Rand though, but we will discuss this later ) Registered 2 days ago (on this account at least) and is already telling us how things should work here. Seriously Truth, deal with it or leave. Go hang out on reddit or 4chan for a while and see how "excessive" the moderation is here. Or maybe you like 8 million image macros, gay bashing, racism, and general idiocy. We do not.

It doesn't take long to learn how this works.
IDK why he was banned, but there is a pretty good chance it was a joke. Even if it wasn't, people who have contributed and helped the site get a little more leniency. You don't have to spend your time here if you don't like how TL is run.
Or just read toast's post he articulates how I feel a little better.
Here's the boot-licking I was referring to above. You will have a long, prosperous life on this site, don't worry.
With all these type of people here, you would think they could enlist them into moderation as well. There's no chance they will abuse the power, because they have been so thoroughly brain washed hahaha.
Then you wouldn't have to worry as much about the huge volumes of traffic that are difficult to moderate. Just seems like common sense to me.
