English is such a great language sometimes.

I am sometimes a little affraid about the direciton my English has taken, as I would guess that about a half of my English-language interactions (reading, writing, listening) are SC2-related and I am probably picking up a lot of weird things.

I can see that. It's kinda funny though, spending a lot of time on the internet and with video games developed my English way more than English classes in school. #EducationalValue

You know what though, it is the quirkiness that is the best part of the ever on going process of learning a language.

RIGHT? :D Well, technically "thou" isn't equivalent to "you." Originally, thou is informal and you (originally "ye" as in "hear ye") is plural/formal (as with, say, usted[es]). But usage eventually got murky and people started using you for all sorts of things. This resulted in thou becoming the less common, and eventually perceived as more old fashioned, or, paradoxically, formal. Shakespeare and the King James Version of the Bible were written at about the time of the muddying. A cool artifact of the older use is how old-school Quakers use(d) thou to refer to everybody, as a way of breaking down class distinctions and asserting everybody to be brothers and sisters, but which eventually became a quaintly old-fashioned habit.

It's a very powerful and evocative word, and I do dislike coming across it (and its derivatives) out of the blue.
