This Thursday, we'll be running 2 King-of-the-Hill's side by side:
-Diamond/Masters KOTH
-Bronze-Platinum KOTH
Players in each KOTH will be randomized to allow for a mix of skill levels being matched against one another. The player who is left standing after all players have competed will be the King!

Glad to hear you've moved to town!
Ignite sells snacks and drinks for reasonable prices, and also has a cafe/smoothie bar. You're also allowed to bring outside food (messy foods should be eaten away from the computers). Some people order pizza during the gathering, or run out to the local Quizzno's, Wendy's, etc.

Join us this Thursday and participate in a team battle, GSTL-style!
You will be placed on a team that will 1v1 with the opposing team until one team emerges as the victor. A captain will help each team decide on a team name, and who plays in what order. The team that runs out of players loses (like a Pokemon battle). Teams may strategize together, but not help each other during gameplay.
Every member of the winning team will be win their choice of a free candy or chips.

This week we will be pairing up players to compete in a double elimination 2v2 tournament. You and your partner will have some time to strategize and practice before competing together! Pairs will be made based on skill level, so teams will be as fair as possible.
Teamwork is important, and no shared control will be allowed!

1st place team: 2 SteelSeries QCK SC2 Mousepads
2nd place team: 2 free cafe drinks

8/6 Gathering
Come out this Thursday, where we'll be celebrating 25 great weeks of Casuals!
When you rent your PC, you'll be eligible to play in a $2 buy-in SC2 tournament with lots of prizes!
1st place: 60% of the cash pool
2nd place: 30% of the cash pool
3rd place: 10% of the cash pool
4th place: Free candy bar
The gathering starts at 6, and the brackets will be made by 7:15, so don't be late!

8/16 Gathering
This week we will be disallowing use of the keyboard, in a 1v1 tournament that will definitely be full of fail! Prepare for the 10 minute 4 gate, the 8 minute 6 pool, and a complete lack of micro from all players!
Prizes for the Mouse-Only Tournament:
1st: Free PC rental at your next weekly [$10 value]
2nd: Free cafe drink
We'll also run some standard team games for fun. It's going to be a chill night of SC2. Be there by 7:15 if you want to play in the tournament!

8/23 Gathering
We all have Starcraft friends that live far away, whether it's a few miles or across the globe. This week, we will have a friendly 1v1 tournament where your long-distance friends are also invited to play!
Tournament Info:
- When you rent your PC at Ignite, you will be eligible to participate in the tournament.
- Additionally, you may also refer up to 2 long-distance friends (anyone not present at Ignite) to play in the tournament as well, so you can all cheer each other on.
- If you OR one of your friends win, the player in attendance will win a prize!
- Every player needs to be in the "ignite" channel. The tournament starts at 7:30pm CST, and long distance players who cannot be located will forfeit! Brackets are posted in the "ignite" channel.
- Make sure you know your friends' battle.net names to provide at the gathering, and have informed them of the date/time/channel!
Prizes:
1st place: FREE entry to your next gathering (a $10 value)
2nd place: FREE smoothie or shake from Ignite's cafe
If you want to compete but are unable to attend, look around for someone who is attending who would refer you as one of their players! Check facebook or the "chicago" battle.net channel.
It's going to be a really fun tournament, see you there!

Oh god I used to know a guy who actually played FPM (quite well, too) with mouse only. It never made any sense to me and I always thought he was lying until I checked it under BWchart and yep, it was legit.

Ignite Network is happy to (re)announce Chicago's official day for Starcraft players and fans. With a vote of 28 to 1 in the Chicago SC2 Facebook Group, Chicago's weekly SC2 gathering is now held every Sunday from 1:00-6:00pm.
Starcraft Sundays at Ignite will not only feature weekly gatherings, but cash tournaments and Barcrafts. Be on the lookout for these special events.
Come meet, play, practice, and polish your SC2 skills with players from all over Chicago. The gathering, complete with themed contests or mini-tournaments, occurs from 1:00-6:00pm.
Join us on Sunday, September 9th, 2012 for the first gathering on the new day. We will be holding a casual tournament, with SteelSeries mousepads for the 1st-5th place finishers! Also, when you rent your PC, you'll get a raffle ticket to win a SteelSeries Sensei.
As a side note, I wanted to say thank you to everyone that has attended one or more of the past 27 gatherings. It's been a pleasure meeting and playing with you all, and I look forward to many more great gatherings!

While 13 is on the young side for this gathering (most attendees are in the 16-25 range), I think that if they are Starcraft players, they'll be fine. I'm sure they will enjoy playing in the tournament, which will take up the majority of the afternoon. You are also welcome to stay and watch if you'd like.

9/16 Gathering
Break out your TL and EG gear, it's time for a team battle!
In lieu of the recent nail-biting IPTL series between TL and EG, we'll be having a team battle whilst pretending to be members of the two most well-known Western teams, Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses!
When you arrive, you may choose which team you'd like to represent (granted the teams remain relatively balanced). Players will battle 1 by 1 until one team has defeated the other! If you're interested in being a team captain (helping your team decide which players to send out), feel free to shoot me a message.
Come be EG.Toast, or Liquid.Money - everyone's name looks better that way :D

This week we'll be hosting a $20 SC2 tournament!
The format will be double elimination, with as many BO3's as time allows (based on number of players). Gathering/registration starts at 1pm, and players must be at Ignite by 2pm in order to participate in the tournament.
Entry to the tournament is free (included in your PC rental)

10/7 Gathering - 2nd to last gathering before a break for Ignite's move!
NOTE: This Sunday's event occurs from 3:00-7:00pm, not the usual time.
This week we will be partnering with our friends from ChicagoBarcraft and holding a meetup for all gamers!
$10 buys you a wristband, which grants you access to:
-A shared block of PC's, with all games unlocked
-A shared block of consoles (xbox, PS3, Rock Band)
-BYOB (if you are 21+)
This would be a great time to bring your casual or non-SC2 friends! This event is open to all ages, but please bring a photo ID if you plan to drink.

We'll conclude the past 33 gatherings as we love to - with a classic double elimination tournament, with some great prizes provided by Ignite!

I've gotten a lot of questions regarding the return of Starcraft Sundays following Ignite's big move last month. I'm very pleased to announce that the gathering will return in March 2013, alongside the release of Heart of the Swarm!
If you haven't seen Ignite's new location yet (3341 N. Elston Ave., just down the street from old Ignite), it's super awesome - there's more PC's, more space, and they're serving up some great food in the cafe.
I hope everyone is as stoked as I am to get back into Starcraft! See you in March
