Interceptor Group is proud to present it's inaugural series of events entitled "Main Stage". A unique opportunity to meet the players outside of the tournament environment but in a cosy and relaxed theatrical setting. For the first event, and this will be a first-ever such event in Canada, we invited no other than Aleksey 'White-Ra' Krupnyk. It is hard to find someone more liked, more respected and more friendly towards his fans than White-Ra. Being close to the age of retirement from e-Sports he has a lot to share about the life of a progamer. It is a great honour for us to welcome White-Ra to Toronto and we are looking forward to see you all at the theatre!
March 23nd, 2012 1st. The tickets for Toronto are now on sale at the http://www.russiantix.com/sc2 2nd. Montreal is now confirmed
March 22nd, 2012
IMPORTANT UPDATE
This is the kind of news you wish to hear first thing in the morning. Just couple of hours ago we were informed that White-Ra finally received the visa to enter Canada. There was never a doubt that this will happen - who in the right mind will not allow White-Ra in?
Now when the most important part of the preparation is behind we can get ready for the exiting weekend with White-Ra! Anyone still thinks that this was a joke?
If you already have your ticket or you are sure you going to be at the Isabel Bader Theatre on April 1st - there is absolutely no excuse not to participate!
Rules are simple - post a question you want White-Ra to answer on stage. Make it a question not directly related to StarCraft (builds, strategy, etc.). Post it here, or PM us, or send it to info@interceptorgroup.ca.
We pick 3 best ones - winners will be able to ask White-Ra their questions on stage in person! WhiteRa will pick the best out of 3 or maybe another one (Who knows - Special Tactics!) - the lucky author of the question will play a game vs. WhiteRa during the masterclass portion of the event.
GL HF!
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT
This unique event will consist of three major components. First - Lifestory - White-Ra will share the story of his life, how he became progamer and rose to the top of the international e-Sports scene. Ups and downs, challenges, memories and plans for future. All these and more will be discussed on stage in front of you.
Second - Masterclass - Arguably White-Ra is one of the best tacticians out there. Well there is a reason why his tactics are called Special. A unique opportunity to learn from the best and get White-Ra's opinions on different tactics and builds. Advise to new players, in-depth analysis of top-tier games, live ladder games commentated by White-Ra and answering questions from the audience will mark the second part of Main Stage Series - "Special Tactics. LIVE!".
And finally - Showmatch - WhiteRa will play an entertaining showmatch showing the legendary Special Tactics and maybe developing a couple of new ones right before your eyes. Short analysis will follow each game. The rules, map pool and opponent TBA on a later date.
Following the event there will be a photo-op and signing session.
Sounds great! Should be able to make it and will be very much looking forward to it, seeing as major eSports events/personalities such as WhiteRa seldom visit Canada.
As a University of Toronto student and avid White-Ra fan this is mind-blowingly amazingly fantastic. I could not be more excited for this, will pay anything to go!!!

If this is april fools joke someone must die.
There will be a bigger riot in toronto then for the G20 summit if they are joking.
I can't wait for this. Even though it's the same evening as the premiere to Game of Thrones. I don't think I'll have another chance to see White-Ra in person.
This is awesome, to be honest im more excited about his life story. The show match and tactics is great but its really interesting to see how someone can be a pro gamer (outside of Korea) for 20+ years. Hope Vods come out!!!!!!!
Edit: I also find it very funny how many people think this could be a joke
For source, i found this on White-ra's facebook page first before teamliquid

This is pretty much the first thing I thought when I saw the date... Would be by far the cruellest aprils fools day joke in the history of mankind....

No prob dde , I was hoping for you or ostoji for the show match since most of pros in Toronto are P, a mirror show match is kind of boring, let's see who they will pick.
Tuesday is almost over and we are sure you've been waiting on an update about the upcoming event with White-Ra.
First of all, we had a good laugh ourselves when the event was scheduled to happen on April 1st. Nevertheless, this is not an April Fools' joke and if someone still doubt's it - you can check the official White-Ra page. Also the fact that the Isabel Bader Theatre, a beautiful and comfortable 500 seat venue, is located on the UofT campus has nothing to do with the university itself.
Now to the most important part: Tonight was a day when ticket sales were supposed to start, however after a tiring day of discussions and phone calls it was agreed among all parties involved, including White-Ra, that in the best interest of the community it will be a bad idea to put the tickets on sale now. The reason is simple and we hope understandable - as per our information at this time White-Ra's travel documents and Canadian visas are en-route from the Canadian embassy in Kiev to White-Ra's home town Odessa. This would be White-Ra's first ever visit to Canada and until he will have his passport with the visa on hand it will not be appropriate for us to start selling the tickets, thus protecting first and foremost your money and your piece of mind. That said, we do not expect to have any problems with the visas. We did put in a lot of effort and a lot of time to make sure that White-Ra's application for Canadian visa is as perfect as possible. Again from what we know the package was supposed to leave the embassy early in the day and we will have the news, good news, within the next 48 hours. We hope for your understanding.
However, it would be bad to leave you completely clueless and not to give you any additional information.
PRICES: Once up for sale, ticket price will range from $15 to $30 depending on preferred seating.
The area map for the Isabel Bader Theatre is available if you click on the theatre's address in the first post and follow the link to Google Maps. Interceptor Group's website will be launched with the ticket sales - we've spent most out time figuring out the logistics and documentation required, and believe it to be a more important part of making the event a success than building a web-site.
Again we count on your understanding and hopefully the good news will follow soon.
$15 seem a little too much. Barcraft events for GSL finals in Toronto are generally free, $10 can get you food and drinks. Even watching GSL at the theater a long time ago only costed ~$10 iirc.
If it is the venue that is making the cost so high, I am curious if a barcraft location would accommodate the event for free? I expect ~60-100 people, not 500...
In comparison, the entire MLG event's door ticket is only $25 USD. That is for 3 day's worth of content from the morning to the evenings, with various fan meetings with many world class progamers, a large crowd, and so much more...

let's get real here.. a movie ticket is $15. $15 is fine...
most people attending MLG pay for transportation and a hotel as well... and because they've already spent $100+ on the event they buy a t-shirt or some other MLG Merchandise
Price point is ok with me, I'm there, but it is significantly higher than I expected for this type of thing, not like we're going to fill a 500 seat theatre either, so two price points for preferred seating, I'm curious what the map on that looks like. I assume you'd get around 2-3 Dozen at this price, we wouldn't need more than like 3 rows of the place.
I don't think I could be more excited for this... Even though I have so little idea of what to expect.
For those bitching about the cost of something like this... c'mon, you can't compare it to a "movie". This is White-Ra live, In the flesh, $15 is pretty fair I think.

Any more info about tickets aside from that single link on the picture? Why are only about half the rows on sale? Also, the site says you can use Paypal, but that doesn't seem to be the case. And lastly, why is there no option to print out your ticket? Only on-site pickup before the event.
There is just half of the inventory on-line not to overcrowd the page. We will be adding more tickets on-line as the available ones will go. When you complete the transaction you will be able to have a print-out that you need to bring with you to the theatre.
Tickets will also be available at the door before the event, if there would be any left of course.
Yeah I've been out to a lot of the barcrafts and original theater events.... Shorter white guy who plays zerg, not sure if you remember that one theater event where galleon was discussing what changes zerg needed (this was the time where terran was winning everything and a half), but i was the guy who went up and talked about lurkers.

Aleksey - As an aspiring player, I admire how manner you are. Any advice for players who have issues with their attitude when going through rough patches in SC?
this is a legit question that im wondering how the hell do you support and maintain a family while flying around the world all the time to play da gameZ?
Pretty sure he answered the job question alot, I dont recall where and what, but he did have a bunch of jobs even when he was playing before he could acutally support himself with "da gameZ"

Are there any special tactics used involving the consumption of vodka? =]
Any good suggestions on where to eat in the area before the event? I haven't been around Avenue Rd and Bloor St in a long time. I guess I could hit up something on Yonge St but I thought I'd ask for input. I'm not a picky eater so anything is game.
As a up and coming gamer, I struggle with the fact of telling my mother how I would like to engage into e-sports in a more serious manner, how did you tell your parents that you were going to be a pro-gamer White-Ra?
How has your experience with streaming online on Twitch.tv been like so far? Do you simply enjoy interacting to the community or do you also use it as some sort of concentration test for upcoming matches?
White-Ra, it is wonderful to have all members of the gaming and progaming community be supported, in your view are people who are LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered) identified to be respected just as much as any other gamer or progamer? Do you have any personal feelings towards the gaming community and how LGBT people are treated in this community?
White-Ra: what made you want to become a professional Starcraft2 gamer, how did you decide to go down this path for a career? what were the hurdles and life challenges that came along with it?
Given that you recently played some 2v2 games with Stephano. What are the prospects for competitive team games in SC2 in your view? Do you think they should have a place at mainstream SC2 competitions?
I live less than a block away so there was little to no reason not to attend.
It's my first time going to a gaming related event, and it was fantastic. I wish I went with people I knew, but even just by myself it was worth the $20 seat. Nobody was being overly obnoxious like at most events and best of all we got to interact with White-Ra face to face! It was also nice to be able to ask him a question in person and to take a photo with him afterwards.
Hopefully we'll see more events like this throughout Canada.
Just recently returned from seeing white ra. Was fantastic, though it was a long day because most people had to work the next day it was just right, The show matches were very fun to watch (3-1 To White-Ra) He was always opened to questions and very nice, after the event there was a meet and greet where you can get a signature and photo and converse a bit,
Overall i paid $25 for my ticket but the experience was Priceless.
Just got back, awesome experience. Paid $20 but would of paid more. The event was awesome and so was the community, it was easy to walk up to people and make some friends, found a couple people to add to my B.Net. WhiteRa, as expected, was awesome and nice, he signed two of my posters and I got a picture with him. Please come back to Canada.

Urgh, and could you please upload to something we don't have to register also? Would be nice for those of us don't use facebook =P
I was one of the lucky two people called on stage for winning the raffle. I have a gaint sticker poster signed by White-Ra now Uploading some pics soon, this is a one of a kind poster Thanks White-Ra & an I <3 eSports.
For those wondering about turnout 150ish people who attended. A friend of mine has the camera and will be emailing the pictures shortly, we both drove 3 hours to Toronto from Hanover / Owen Sound northern Ontario, we met people from Oakville, London and mostly people from Toronto.
For the showmatch they found a gamer (Henry, he used the event SC2 account not his own so I don't know his username) going to University of Toronto who was ranked 20 Grand Master (American Server) who manage to take one game off White-Ra making for a 3-1 showmatch that was fun to watch.
Overal a great event, everyone was able to shout out specail tatics and questions they had. When show ended White-Ra stayed around to chat and sign anything fans brought up to him. White-Ra was so nice he even signed my friends poster and made it out to his two children telling them more GG more skill. He is going to show it to his kids when they grow up (their twins and currently 2 years old) so there is at least one parent out there who will let their kids become pro gamers if they want, after they finish school of course
EDIT: until I get the other pictures I took a low quality one of all the merchandise they had and the sticker poster I won:
The stickers and poster were $2 each. The sticker poster on the left is one of a kind and signed by White-Ra making it priceless
Was a sick event - can't believe I got picked out of all the questions to play a game vs whitera. I now know what it feels like to fall victim to the mighty special tactics.
