I'm sure several people have been warned for multiple offenses, not sure if anyone's ever been banned for it. I agree with cracking down more on this (including making the rule more obvious). Happy Birthday yo, get anything nice? :D

A little over two years ago Hot_Bid sent out a number of PMs inviting a select few people to become banlings, part of a reorganising of staff into specific roles rather than the previous blue and red system. Most of the current banlings were part of this wave although some more have subsequently been offered the position. Banlings, like most other staff members, generally already have a relationship with tl staff in some way, for example I had been on the writing staff for many years before I was offered the position. However some have just been notable veterans who contribute by their consistent quality posting rather than as members of staff. Since the initial wave promotion has either been a product of the mysterious processes at TL HQ or by acclamation in which they get suggested and everyone in the banling forum likes the idea.

Moderators almost never lose their status unless they request it or prove they can no longer be trusted. Banlings have lost their status when they are given a trial and their moderating style doesn't fit in line with TL. Again, once they pass their trial period it's fairly difficult to lose their status.

I can only think of incontrol and I always heard he voluntarily stepped down. Then again there was some drama around him at the time so I dont know T_T

Well you can read my one and only blog entry for a lot of it. But I guess I kept contributing to the wiki and helping people out and I wasn't too obnoxious and annoying to the other staff members. And when Aesop stepped down from the position as Head of Liquipedia I was asked if I wanted to take over, and I did, and I got red at the same time. And by who? The admins, but it was Plexa that contacted me, IIRC.

I've just got my first warning today and noticed the cute little closing line: "(Do not reply to this message. No one will receive it.)" just after a, "thank you for your cooperation." It could be taken at face value as a neutral information but I don't think anybody receiving or giving a warning (due to the emotions involved) would take it like that. So here's question: is that line really meant at face value or is it meant as an insult? This is a serious question, not a rage question. I'm sorry, maybe I'm a little slow on the uptake, but could you explain how that could be taken as an insult?

I'm sure the funny guys on staff could think up something better if it was meant as an insult. And I think the phrasing is close enough to a lot of automated email messages I've gotten.
