This should work: http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/myposts.php?currentpage=1&action=view_as_threads&threads_only=on you have to manually change the "currentpage=" though. I only have 1 site of threads, so I'm not 100% sure. JBright linked this more or less before.

I'd say 99% of the posts made in ABL are made by people who feel entitled & egoboosted by the fact that they have bonded into a small tightly knit community through collectively 'assessing' bans and 'discussing them in an unbiased way' while it just looks like you guys just think that you are more qualified and knowledgeable about the matters at hand. Its okay If you stay in ABL D:

I posted the link to my stream in the links/advertising/self promoters thread on the SC2 general forum, and got warned for, "me posting my stream link in an unrelated thread" when that looked to me to be the perfect place to put it. Can anyone on staff tell me what I did wrong so I do not do it again? On March 26 2010 11:49 Kennigit wrote: Note: This isn't directed at any party in particular. If it wasn't a general issue, we would just ban a few people and go eat cheetos This is a subject which has always been a bit of an issue, but was largely ignored because it happened relatively infrequently - staff from other sites using TL as a marketing tool for their own content. It's a bit of a grey area, because one could argue that it is contributing to the community as a whole, and that everyone should experience the content. There are some limits though. If i have a party and invite all my friends, and there's a guy who gets along with everyone, shares some drinks and jokes and then says "hey we should do X tomorrow" that is great - everyone loves that - i love that. I'll put that stuff on the front page. If the same guy bursts into your party and screams "HEY GUYS, AMAZZZZING PARTY AT MY PLACE YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT!!!" every time he shows up, then i would probably punch that guy straight in the face. It's distasteful, and disrespectful. Here's an example. JP from MLG is a new member to Teamliquid, and has been using the forums to let people know about the KOTH series and i assume in the future other tournaments. However, i regularly see him interacting on the forum and even in IRC. He polls community members for who should be in next weeks series and genuinely shows an interest in the community. This is good. If someone is "known" and we have the gut feeling that he's doing a good thing, then we will support it. If we feel that there's someone with 50 posts, and 30 of those posts are OPs to advertise/link his own content on another site, then we get our panties in a twist. Should we leave it open? Should we ban the guy? The answer isn't important. What is important is that we think its an issue and it feels like our system is being abused. TL hates abuse. Be cool. Post. If you are new, tread lightly. Contribute to OUR community before you expect us to support yours. Don't make us think that you are using our site as a marketing tool and we wont have any problems. Good ways to make us think you are a giant tool bag - Make your user name your product/website name. - Include a big ol' obnoxious link in your quote. - Make a blog with a link to your offsite blog. It is generally a good idea to actually read the OP of the thread you posted in and not just take a look at the title and assume it means what you want it to mean.

It goes off topic from time to time, but I don't think it's more extreme than in other threads that have developed lives of their own like that (Nada's body, the SotG thread, KMD...). It's the TL subcommunity where I really feel at home, so I'm bothered rather more than I probably should be to see it derided like that by people I respect from the larger community. Thoughts? My issues with the ABL thread can be easily summarised: 1) It was a place that I used to enjoy going, spending sometime and discussing bans; i now no longer go there because of the content that gets posted and the way in which the "regulars" post has changed the thread. (in other words, personal reasons) 2) It goes off topic way too often, encourages users to post in a manner that isn't tolerated elsewhere on the forum and promotes a cliquey group of people who feel superior in their domain 3) It has essentially devolved into spam Just my own thoughts on the issue i guess the mods are happy as long as they stay in that thread =)

this is also the consensus of some of the older ABL members. how come you guys dont mod the hell out of it? make it like the SFW pic thread: every post discusses a ban, or gets a ban.

I guess it serves several purposes including pointing and laughing at perceived idiocy, pointing and laughing at some of the hilarious mod comments on their bans, and also providing a way for users to ask admins about the reasoning behind some of their mod actions etc. But to answer your last question, honestly it's not really productive in any way whatsoever at the moment...I mean it wasn't exactly a bastion of glorious posting before but it has definitely taken a downturn in many ways...wait I don't think I'm supposed to answer TL staff questions, supposed to be the other way around ;; But um...hm....who is your favorite SC team and/or player, BW and/or SC2 ^^

I find this attitude about half justified and about half unreasonable given the lack of enforcement our thread has gotten on the off-topic rule. I've raised the issue for discussion in the ABL thread, though (discussing it here seems silly); I'd like to see improvement in both the posting standards there and the regard in which we're held by the larger community.
