Dont know a bar that would do a Barcraft-Event, we just have to see if more people get involved i guess. I would organize some things, i think thats no problem. 1 1/2 months to go till finals. | ||

Since I support any of the barcraft events and I'm looking forward to any barcraft to attend to: My 2 cents on your questions. 1. Locations: I guess for the first events there won't be more than 10-20 (SC2-) people attending. So look out for a small or decent bar with TVs which is willing to give it a shot. If you have a room for 10-20 people, a decent TV or can borrow a beamer (e.g. from university) you can do it at home as well. I'm thinking about doing this myself in Giessen (Hessen). 2. Putting effort into it: Yes, but only in Hessen ;-)... Keep it up! | ||

It´s really a great idea because SC is such a fun and watchting it with friends would be awsome. I may have an location for us all in Mannheim-North. There is no public transportation. So, are you all coming by car? We have a 180m² basement room. We have a 3m canvas, but it´s not installed yet. ich werd mal in Deutsch schreiben, da mein englisch ein bischen eingerostet ist. In Mannheim gibt es das Studentenwohnheim im Ulmenweg. Die Studentenkneipe dort, das GeZet, hat die Möglichkeit relativ Leute dort unterzubringen. Je nach Anzahl kann man sogar das streaming event in die angeschlossene Turnhalle verlegen. Ich bin nicht nicht mehr in mannheim, würde euch aber empfehlen bei denen mal anzufragen, ob das vllt geht. Der Ort ist mit Bus und Bahn super zu erreichen. Parkmöglichkeiten gibs zuhaus, Getränke sind günstig und die Crew ist super nett. http://www.ulmenweg.de/index.php?ctrl=gzetmain&lang=de Vll wohn ja jmd im Ulmenweg, der kann ja mal anfragen. since i heard of Barcraft I waited for A Thread to pop up with a city nearby. i live like 10 minutes away so mannheim would be perfect. as a location suggest there is a youth center (JUZ) near the alten feuerwache. a friend of mine told me that everyone whos got a good concept and organizes evrything by themselves can use their rooms for partys so they got a bar n stuff. also theres no government involved the whole JUZ thing is ruled by the people. gona try and talk to them these days mb they like it | ||

We are going to do the first "BarCraft Rhein-Neckar" on Sunday, 27th of November, showing the finals of Dreamhack Winter. The Venue will be provided by ojojoMannheim (see his post on page 2 of this thread ) and LFish will provide an HD beamer for the event. I didn't find a schedule for Dreamhack Winter yet, but as soon as I find it (or as soon as it is published), a starting time for the viewing will be posted here. Since drinks and chairs need to be organized, I am opening another thread. Please post there, if you want to attend and with how many others, so that everything can be provided in sufficient numbers. More information on how to get to the venue will be posted by ojojoMannheim shortly in the new thread. edited for correct MONTH >.< | ||

Sadly, I wasn't able to invest as much time as I had liked to, and the few random Bars I contacted weren't all too eager to host the event. But having a host who also is enthusiastic about the idea is infinite times better than a bar owner whose arm had to be twisted into hosting. To make matters worse, it looks like I won't be able to attend myself due to circumstances beyond my control (work, work). | ||

If coming by regional train, you can travel to Mannheim-Luzenberg From Mannheim Hbf (central railway station) You can get there easily taking the Straßenbahn (the tram). Both no. 1 (direction Schönau) and no. 3 (direction Sandhofen) stop at Luzenberg, and take about 15 minutes. From Luzenberg It's about a 2km walk, so estimate 20 minutes here. (Google maps link: http://g.co/maps/rzw7b). Bus no. 53 will take you about halfway there (direction: MA Kurpfalzbrücke, but it's only every 30 mins or so. If you choose to take it, get off at Weidenwörth). 1. Find out where the water is, and cross the bridge (:D). Keep walking for about 10 minutes. 2. Take the 3rd left onto Einsteinstr., you should be seeing loads of trailers on your right. (Waypoint: ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/JxgEY.jpg) ).3. I think I ll roll with 5,0 / 2,5 Beers... lots of them... for the start mb some becks or so pumped for it! | ||

- i was at both barcraft Darmstadt and at the public viewing in Mannheim and both were awesome events - in Mannheim we were 30 people i think. about 20 of us came for the dreamhack stream - the rest just enjoyed the evening with some drinks and poker - but although we were so few, i feel like it was a very fun event and i met some interesting people - i'm really looking forward to future events like this - it doesnt matter how simple the location is, how few you are and how hard you have to improvise - just get together and watch (or even play) some StarCraft! and now to give you an impression of how informal "BarCraft" Mannheim was: Horrible Quality Video | ||

It's a bar on the grounds of a student's hostel run by students themselves. That means, among other things, that the prices for the drinks are more than affordable. We'll be showing the finals of MLG Winter Championship via beamer. There have already been public viewings of soccer in the past. The only thing pendingt, is a test of the wireless LAN, how much bandwidth it can support over several hours without lag at critical moments like, say, the final micro battle of the last match for the championship! The location can be reached via Bus from Mannheim main train station. Line 60. It takes about 15 minutes, in addition of a walk from the bus stop to the bar, which took me 1 minute. If you strongly consider going to the event, it'd be nice, if you could mention it here or via PM at me, so that I can give the people over there a rough estimate of what they should expect. It was a complete and utter success! The location was very good, the people enthusiastic, the mood very positive and the only feedback i got was that everyone had a fun time watching SCII. Over the day, we hat about 50 participants, which ist quite a good number for an event with such short notice and so little promotion, if I may say so myself. There were two technical problems, one regarding some noise in the sound system, whose source we couldn't isolate ... yet. The other was occasional lag at very anticlimactic moments. We'll be using another connection the next time. Theanks again to everyone who made this an experience worth remembering. The next BarCraft Mannheim will be the IPL4 finals on April 8th, starting at 17:00h. Be there or be square! | ||

It also was a bit hard to find at first (I literally walked right past 2 times) but with the picture right now and maybe a sign that isn't just a paper plate taped to a tree I think it'll be fine. Anyway I definitely recommend it to everyone living anywhere near Mannheim. The drinks were really cheap, someone ordered pizzas to share and the first row of seats were actually couches Also if someone needs a ride up to or back home next time, I'm coming from Landau/Neustadt and will most likely have 3 open seats in my car. | ||

As more and more people realized that IPL4 is the weekend of easter, the list of likely participants became shorter and shorter. This developed up to the point where it seems reasonable to cancel the IPL4 BarCraft. We will announce the next BarCraft as soon as possible, and in the meantime, take action to improve the venue to have a much bettert experience next time. I am very sorry about this development, but in the intoxication of last event's success, nobody thought of that. I count on your understanding and hope to see you at the next event, we will announce it as soon as possible. Stay tuned! | ||

Another question is the interest level for another BarCraft despite the fact of the european championships in soccer with the german team playing on the same day (as far as I am informed). So, if you would attend instead of watching soccer somewhere else, just post it here so we can judge if it would be worthwhile | ||

- as far as i know the only football games on june, 10th are spain/italy and ireland/croatia. - the interesting football game (spain/italy) starts already at 18:00. maybe we could even view that before starting the mlg stream | ||

More information on the front page and shortly on facebook. It's a new venue, so spread the word, participate and have a few drinks Soccer will be shown that sunday until it's over, which sould be around 19:00h. But there wont be any problems because they have multiple screens/beamers, which could come in handy for tournaments with multiple streams! More information coming soon. | ||

Finals start at 10:00h CEST. 4x Bo5 followed by 2x Bo5 followed by 1x Bo7. We planned to start at 16:00h CEST. Ist possible that there wont be too much to show then. So we are considering starting sooner if eniough People would attend sooner.
