Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

Mmm, I've only watched a couple of episodes but I'll answer best I can. I think the answer is not really. In the same way The Simpsons represents an average suburban family, I'd say the gays in Modern Family represent general population of married gays e.g. a rough idea of what it's all about but exaggerated to make it funny.
e.g. in the first episode there is a lot of fighting between them about telling their families about the baby that they had adopted.Things like gay marriage, adoption into gay families are hot topics everywhere and everyone has an opinion on this - however they'll bring it up and then just be silly about it, as is the trend with shows like these.
In short, I'd not recommend taking anything away from them in the matter of seriousness and rather watch them for what they are - funny . If you have any specific questions about gays or anything you don't understand, ask real gays - there are a whole bunch right here.

Is this a real topic? Is there one for cancer patients? Or the mentally handicapped? Or Jewish gamers?
I dont understand.
We all play video games, why not leave it at that.

Yes, it's a real topic. Did you even read the OP?

You know what I always say, what ever gets you off. Shoot for the stars

Not entirely sure about Brazil, the country is quite big and even though i have my share of homossexual friends here in Rio, i´m quite sure that being open about your sexuality in some other cities might be disastrous and even here hate crimes are quite common. :-(

im gay too.. and i would rather want the people to hate me for what i am than love me for what i am not

Want to know how gays figure out who gets to be on top or the bottom? Why do gays talk with a lisp anyway? Does Mora really have a crush on Incontrol?
So Mora, DOES gaydar exist? And how do you decide who is pitcher and who is catcher?
some like to be active and some like to be passive (some like both), its as easy as that

i think OP should be banned for saying 'dick in mouth' but he won't be because he's gay and that would be discriminatory hurr

Great thread! I think the gay community is great, i even have a friend who purposley go to gay clubs/pubs just because it's better there, you don't get the odd guy who thinks he's something trying it on with his girlfriend and doing drugs in the toilets.
My only issue with the Gay community, or individual gays is the ones that once they're and people accept them, they seem to change and become the stereotypical cliche gay male. I just don't understand how being gay can change you and your interests, your fasion sense and other things. I understand some are just naturally feminine but for example I knew a boy who i knew from a young age was gay, but most would not notice and think he was just your average regularly straight kid, then when he comes "out of the closet" he's all wearing pinky and became the cliche sterotype of a gay male.

in my experience only about 10% of the gays i met were the stereotype gay you see in the tv.. the rest is like my hetero friends. and most gays dont like these "girls" and are not attracted to them.. i think they may fear the notion that anybody they know could be gay?

Yeah definitely, and I think the percentage of gays who are that flamboyant is even less, but they're more memorable so it feels like more. I'm in West Hollywood and there's really no way to distinguish who's gay or not here. If you act "tv gay" here, people think you're trying too hard

I'm a heterosexual dude, but what turns me on is lesbian porn because they're both hot chicks.
yea I'm weird. Whenever I see a penis on the screen i lose my erection. :|

This is going to be another one of my rants that will probably get ignored, but here goes.
What does bother me is how people view Justin Bieber. I am not a fan of his music in any way and I find them to be very weird, but it is funny to see how much people hate the guy even though they never met him. The kid has never made any political decisions, said anything controversial, or have any type of corporate power. So in the end, it is just plain stupid to hate him.
But as for the hate comments, one of the most common things I have heard about Bieber is that he is gay and a fag due to sounding like a girl. I do not know if this causes homophobia since much of TL would probably open bottle of wine should he suddenly die, but he seems to have much more in common with a young boy than your stereotypical gay guy on TV. I do not know, the reason this issue bothers me because one, he is associated with faggotry and saying anything positive about him is like admitting that you are gay to homophobes and a homeopath to more progressive people. In the end, I can even find more logic hating the Jews in 1939 than Bieber. But at least the North Korea prank was funny as hell

But in the end, no matter how stupid it is to hate on him like the thread posted above, the fangirls are annoying as hell.

You are not weird, you are just a male. It's the same for like 99% of males.

I don't know your friend personally so I'm not sure how right I would be. But I would imagine that he might have suppressed what he actually likes before he came out. Once he did, he might feel more comfortable with revealing more of his true self. I can understand how you feel, but we grow and change all through our lifetime. I hope you will become more comfortable with it over time and love your friend for who he is.

Would be interesting to know the percentage of lesbians among the female SC2 gamers - since gaming is stereotypically a "male" hobby/thing to do. Then again, most female gamers I know got into it because their boyfriends / husbands were glued to the screen for hours, and they ended up playing too, if only to have a common topic for the rare offline conversations over breakfast.
As for - does this really have to be a topic (probably gets asked every 2 pages, I only read the first 10 and the last 3) - of course one's sexual orientation doesn't show during one's gaming (then again, pink siege tanks...), and yes it is 2011 and were all cool with everything, but really - we're not. Homophobia is real and present, and this is why this thread even coaxed me out of my eternal lurker state into actually registering an account to, dunno, show my support for such a topic here on TL

I can of course only speak for myself. Not lesbian and my love for gaming started way before getting into a relationship with a gamer. Of course it helps though, to be able to share a passion for gaming with your better half.

By the way in the old posts Mora and some others have mentioned the lack of LGBT relationships in (good) movies. May I suggest 2 Pedro Almodovar movies with LGBT relationships? "Todo sobre mi madre" (All about my mother) and "La mala educacion" (Bad education). I'm sure there are more good movies but these two are just my personal favorite.

I bet fags can't even play sc2, cause all they are thinking about is sucking that fat cock, or receiving that cock in their bums
