Was so annoyed... thats the worse feeling, losing to a team of carries when your team is balanced.

*I say farm in the loosest sense of the word, since PA had vlads+BKB 40 mins in when she had a pretty good lane (at least, they got kills before I came ganking) and didn't join any fight (although I guess you could say she was, since they would go walk across the map to where she was and she would ignore all our pings and "b"s and die). Well, at least I know I'm not bad at bat now, just the first time i played his is was horribly noob ![]()

I'm TA and want to gank SF, who's mid against me. He's on the Radiant, and my Furion is farming the easy camp right behind him, so I ping him and draw on the map. Trap sprung I walk in and attack SF. Furion doesn't react. As SF's HP drop Furion thinks he can get that kill for himself and sprouts him. Obviously I can't attack him anymore and he gets away. Furion calls me a noob, then says hes "doing his own thing". Later I solo Rosh, when the Naga on my team, who donated the first Aegis by overextending, walks in, kills Rosh and takes the Aegis, ignoring my chat that I want to take it. I then want to farm ancients when, surprise, Naga comes and takes those too. Axe gets himself killed by standing alone in front of the base. I tell him to stop feeding, or we lose, to which he replies that it's not a problem. At this point I decide to afk farm, because fuck that team, seriously. Furion declares himself best hero on the team. There's only so much shitcock fuckheads I can take. Once I have Heart we crack the base and win, prompting the enemy Luna to type how TA owned them, to which my team responds that that isn't the case and I'm just noob. Also worst TA ever etc...

I just had a game where I was playing SF, and I was doing pretty good, outleveling everyone by a fair few levels etc, and a teamfight was happening, I was about to get an amazing ult off, would've gotten me an ultra kill at least, BUT, like 0.2 seconds before it goes off, SONG OF THE SIREN LOLOLOLOLOL. The excuse was "i only see my hp was 100", jesus fucking christ.

They still somehow managed to blame everything on me =(

These are pretty standard games for me: + Show Spoiler [Spoilered for large images] + ![]() ![]() But I guess I truly did deserve to lose those games after all and matchmaking is totally fair, right. This game is such a fucking joke, I honestly don't get how valve managed to pick someone so incredibly fucking incompetent to design their matchmaking system.

Both of these friends also believe that out of the 3 of us, I am the better player without a doubt. This game is such a fucking joke, I honestly don't get how valve managed to pick someone so incredibly fucking incompetent to design their matchmaking system. Dota matchmaking is actually very complicated because it becomes very difficult to isolate your skill when compared to that of players on your team and the other team. If you queue as 5 and nobody else in your group plays any games outside of your group of 5, you will all have the same matchmaking information regardless of your individual performance from game to game because similar to Blizzard's system (or many other such systems, but I mention Blizzard because this is a Starcraft site and I've done write-ups on it), Valve's system cares only about the end result of a game -- win or lose -- when modifying your MMR after a game ends. The complexities emerge when you have different players on your team. Some of these players will be very good and net you otherwise-undeserved wins, and some will net you losses. Valve tries to figure this out by analyzing after each game the overall skill spread of both teams, whether the expected outcome of the game was even or lopsided, and what the actual result was. Note that that analysis doesn't actually factor into your MMR, instead they use it internally to measure how they need to adjust their matchmaking ranges and rules to get the fairest results. Valve has said that generally a team with a wider skill spread will win because the most skilled player on a team has a larger impact than the least skilled player (so a really good player will outweigh the impact of a feeding/inexperienced player). There will be no visible rating system, only the ambiguous "normal"/"high"/"very high", which is somewhat frustrating because there's no way to gauge whether you're going up or down. Valve's made their decision about the only visible thing being battle points which are grindable and don't relate to skill at all. Maybe that's for the best, because from what I hear about HoN and LoL, there's a lot of entitlement/elitism/derision revolving around displayed ratings. All that said, the matchmaking ranges certainly feel particularly wide. I'm running an experiment with two accounts where I play normally on one, and the second is for teaching new friends how to play and generally keeping my MMR quite low to that end. Even so, I've encountered players on the other team who have been really really good -- as good as I'd commonly find on my main account -- on my weaker account. It's difficult to gauge whether this was an uneven pairing, or maybe I slipped and allowed my MMR to become too high, or if just those good players on the other team carried the otherwise horrible players (meaning a fair game by Valve's prediction but a very wide skill spread for their team), or if their team composition was better strategized to beat ours. There are a lot of these factors to consider with Dota 2 matchmaking, and there are too many times where the matchmaking is going to feel uneven because the flow of the game can change so dramatically so quickly.

The boring thing is that you get tired of support AND, if your team has a few bad eggs, the game becomes a 1 hour bore-a-thon because you can't do crap yourself even if you're playing well. Hell, one of my first games I played a tide. Safe to say, everyone on both teams sucked dick, so I actually had to carry and won us the game with a good score... but that was the absolute lowest MMR, generally you will be in a pretty shitty spot playing support and having better K/D than anyone else. EDIT: Speak of the devil, just played a game as lich. Went 9-1 in the early game, then 2 people on my team disconnected and the third one kept playing but fed and didn't buy any items, had 9k gold in the end. I ended on 15-7 which is decent considering, but yeah, that sucked ^^
