Needless to say the game was really onesided. Suddenly at one point they all decide to just rush into their T3 tower, while all 5 heroes on the opposite team is alive. Why does this always happen to me? Is my mmr so low that I only get retarded people on my team? How come they're never on the enemy team? Watch -> Recent Games -> Filter -> Type in your player name -> Select between Very High, High or Normal under Skill Level. This is not quite true, I heard in dev forums that these skill level indicators doesn't work properly. You might want to take a look at dev forums.
It is definitely broken, badly. Most of my games under the high level tab were complete stomps and several players were always straight up noobs as well. It may be something to it as far as very high level games are concerned, but the normal and high bracket are pretty messed up.

Few player types ruin games more than the junglers who afk farm jungle whole game while getting outleveled and farmed by everyone else in their team and then saying "im jungle not laning" when your team is getting 5v4d. Or should I say 6v4d

I remember a Lone Druid who somehow was behind in levels to everyone, but insisted on farming. When I called him out being only level 8, when everyone was level 9 or above, he went silent, went into the jungle, killed a few camps until he reached 9 and, I kid you not, wrote "you liar, I'm level 9".

Story is, I wrote a reply to you about actually skill levels doesn't mean anything and bugged which i read from dev forums (above guy captured it before edit). Then I made a small research and I saw this is not the case. But saw another thing that actually there is no hard drawn lines between levels so you can play at all levels unless you are Puppey
High or very high skill tiers are just meant for observers who would like to watch higher level games and learn the game and tell you you are not bad

Also if you read through that thread you realize that MM is completely fucked with people providing proof and the devs don't respond.
|
@RonNation: There's not much to read through in that thread. Those are just wild speculations.
Yes, matchmaking is rather bugged. That's the difficult part about assigning skill levels when you're in a party of 5 people, and when each game has such high variance. When people with vastly different skills levels queue together, it causes a bigger mess. It IS possible for a player to play games in the very high tier and completely suck, and possible to be godlike in the normal tier too. On average, if your games are classified into a higher bracket, that means that you're better right?
You can get matched up with players over a wide skill range, yes. But there is a maximum range, EricTams said so himself in the last post of the thread. You won't see Puppey getting matched up with some random noob with 2 wins and 200 losses, even if both of them solo queued.
Back to my SC2 analogies. A player may have bronze-level ZvZ, gold-level ZvP and diamond-level ZvT. So what league will he be assigned to? Most likely somewhere around gold, because that's what his skill looks like on average.

If you don't get games where it's stomp after stomp one way or the other I am very happy for you. For the people who are afflicted it is infuriating.

first item i went with huskar after treads: heart -> fuck my life. couldn't farm in wood cause my hp were always at maximum, couldn't gank opposite team cause they were always moving around in 5. we won that game eventually, but still.

Just ult creep so to get lower then since you'll regen it anyway. Its not like his ult has a long cd or anything.

I tried random draft because I was getting sick of AP. My team ended up being sk (I had first pick), PA, PL, BM, and tide. The game hadn't even started when the all caps flaming began. We got badly owned.

AM (first pick), Dazzle, QoP, Lich(me), Juggy vs Panda, CM, Pudge, KoTL and Lesh. We are Dire.
Me and Jugg go bot, i take sac first, eat a creep, ward their jungle so CM cant pull fairly standard. Jugg is doing something strange but ok. 1 sec later i see him spinning alone vs Panda and CM while i was still at their jungle. When he fails (dosn;t die but yeah) first time i heard so much cursing and yelling (angry american kids are angry i guess). Well, ok, here goes ignore and since he was so nice to me and i can actually, opposing to him, last hit he got shit farm from creeps. We still go 5-0 in our lane, top got first blood (dazzle, not am but all still cool). Lane is done, bot tower down for radiant, time to move on. Meka, tranquil boots, i feel quite confident we will get decent mid game. Nope. QoP (he got maybe 1 rune the whole laning time, guess it must be hard to take control of runes with blink hero and wards on both rune spots) for some reason have nothing. Well, Power threads. 22 mins in game Am have boots (normal, not threads) and perserverance. Pudge is getting mad kills on my team even tho me and dazzle bought every ward every spawn and placed em, fairly good. Sadly vision and pings on incoming pudge is not enough for 2 heroes with blink to actually not feed. Dazzle finishes mana boots 30 mins in game.
Game ended in 60 mins throne race which we lost couse our AM with Heart, Manta and BF was to stupid to either kill throne, finish pudge who was harrasing him or tp back and wipe rest of their team with me QoP and Juggy.
Fuck yeah, DOTA.
Worst game i played for so long time, like seriously.

Try treads->hood->AC (buying Plate first)->your preference next time. Heart is a big chunk of life but it's not too useful when you're actually taking damage. The key to Huskar in pubs for me has been slowing down the rate of incoming damage, since your damage takes care of itself

Fuck TA. Fuck, fuck, fuck that broken-ass shit fucking hero. Fuck refraction. Especially fuck Psi Blades.
How the fuck do you solo mid against that fucking hero with ANYTHING.
Heroes i've tried so far:
Tinker - laser is nice for miss, but you can't nuke her ever and she has more base damage. With a rune, she can just dive you.
SF - you get trashed.
Viper - you get trashed. The Poison is completely useless as it ticks too slow.
Morf - if you morf on high agi, the splash from psi blade rapes you. if not, you dont get any lasthit. Waveform at least allows you to get runes / get away.
Invoker - can hold it's own ok, but some good splashes still kill your hp and you give TA free rune control.
Puck - gets completely and utterly trashed.
Potm - gets trashed
Storm - gets trashed
QoP - Shadow Strike can be dodged by meld. Nuff said.
Any suggestions? DS? Ion shell spam seems like the only thing that could hold her down. I fear that Veno has the same problem like viper, that you might go through the defensive charges, but the free +million damage and spill from blades would still make you her bitch. Batrider mb? Pudge? Axe? Anything?
I might be slightly exaggerating, but every time i play mid against her, i just want to punch myself in the face.

That's all you can really do. Puck - You can only spam orb for last hits. Stay far away. Potm - Not even a good solo mid. Storm - Obviously bad QoP - Actually one of the only heroes that can come out okay against TA. You need to win runes. Also, seems silly, but buy a set of sentry wards - it'll essentially help you win lane.
Veno actually does decently - you wont get runes, but you can kill TA if you play well. You have to be smart though.

This is what makes me QQ the most. Takes <3 minutes to find a match, but over 15 to actually start the game t_t

I really don't think the 'very high' bracket means all that much. The games are definitely better on average than those on my alt account thats only 'high' or even 'normal' depending on who I'm playing with. That said though probably 30-40% of my 'very high' games are completely trash with just as braindead people as in any other bracket. It's quite maddenning.

Not to mention the millions of pauses which could easily add up to 10-30 min on a single game.
You click the ready button, is it really THAT hard to actually be ready for the match?! Do some people get scared by the "match ready" noise and go "oh my god no fuck this!"? And why oh why do you have to go to the toilet AFTER the match starts? you honestly have that little bladder control? And why oh why do you expect me to sit and wait for you to take a 40 min bath after entering the game, and then get mad at me for unpausing? Have some fucking respect for the 9 other people you're playing with!
Unless its important, you can take that phone call after the match, you can pee before entering the que, and considering the skills you're showing me you stink anyways, dont bother bathing.
