Myself and TLIH Staff would like to get some opinions on the subject of rating vs. non-rating in TLIH. Now that we're using the ixdl client, we would have a very easy way of keeping track of ratings in a neat and useful way, but there are definitely some downsides as well. We'd like to gauge the community opinion on whether or not implementing ratings would be a good idea. Pros: - Using ratings allows for better balance in TLIH games - prevents issues where one team or certain players might take the game seriously while others might not (rated games will generally be taken more seriously) - Cons: - those who are not interested in playing "tryhard" every game will enjoy it less - possibility of increased flaming/bad attitudes (which could be managed with proper moderation) - The arguments against ratings generally stem from the opinion that ratings are what cause toxic communities like IXDL and to some extent the HoN community to proliferate. The arguments for ratings generally speak to better balance and more serious games. The question is which would we prefer? Note that if ratings were implemented, TLIH staff would try our best to moderate bad attitudes and ban/warn those who consistently cause problems.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing my rating, but it has enough downsides for it to not be worth it.

For example in the game today, we played offensive trilane, and i (carry) gave up firstblood, and my 2 fellow supports died shortly afterwards. If this game was rated there might come flame or so, now it was just a response from me "das comunication" and some agreement to that. Top lane lost too, but people was chill, and we won in the end. In a rated game this would have ended up in a flamewar 100%. In this regard I belive that a rating would be working counterproductive in terms of gamequality.
