Yeah so today my PC shut down 2 times playing Witcher 3, i logged the temps the 2nd time and they were around 60 for GPU and 50 for CPU when it occured, so it was at light load.
My CPU OC was stable for 2 years, but i reduced the multiplier, didnt seem to help.
I checked my RAM with the win7 tool and it was all good
I played Witcher 3 before without my PC crashing, between that and now is 3 days, a Witcher Patch and going from Catalyst to Catalyst beta drivers for GTA5.
Its a total shutdown, no bluescreen. Can a GPU driver cause that, normally when they crash they give bluescreens no?
GTA5 and basically anthing else is fine, its the first time my PC shut down since i set it up.
I consider deactivating my CPU OC completely if it happens again.
I should mention that it seems to happen after W3 runs for some time, which is why i tested my memory.
Any ideas?

What are your system specs including PSU? It's pretty unusual behavior

I5 4670K was running at 4.4, its 4Ghz currently
8GB RAM
my PSU is a 750 watt unit from an expensive brand, forgot the name, but its quality and oversized
my mainboard is a standard Asus board for my socket with the "Z" chipset for OC.
I dont have any other problems, i just played 2 hours of GTA5 with no problems, which puts about the same stress onto my system except the GPU is maybe 5 degrees cooler 68 instead of 73.

Check the program called bluescreenview. You might have them (and error codes) reported even if the system just went off and came back on without a bluescreen

there isnt anything, there are no new memory images or recorded events, the system just resets.
I just played GTa all night and nothing happened, kinda at a loss here what to do.
Next time it crashes when i play it , ill remoce any CPU OC and then at least i can eliminate that and basically only GPU failure remains.

it seems to be ok now, played all day.
I did disable hbao+ after i found out its for nvidia cards, changed ingame vsync to windows triple buffer and outsourced the frame limiter to riva tuner.
Idk if it was any of those settings or by OC down to 4GhZ or the fact that my GPU is 3 degrees cooler now or random luck.

You shouldn't do that. Those kinds of frame limiters introduce a lot of latency, while in-game frame limiting can avoid it
Unstable CPU OC can cause resets like that (sometimes with and sometimes without a crash showing up in bluescreenview), i have not seen anything else do it

The Witcher 3 is very very sensitive to system instability so if your OC introduces even a slight amount of instability the game will sometimes crash. I would try turning down your CPU clock or even reset it to stock to see if the problem persists.
Also @Cyro: it is actually recommended to use Rivatuner's frame limiter if going for a 30fps lock, the in game one has some frame pacing issues, by using Rivatuner it keeps a consistent 33.33ms frame time and gives smoother frame output and more consistent control responsiveness.

maybe it was the CPU, it has been some time since i really used it.
i use a 60 fps lock, idk how the game works but if i dont use it, my GPU gets hotter for no reason and if i use the ingame one, then the game sometimes crashes in inventory screen and also often lets vsync kick in for no reason and goes to 30 fps.

Then they should fix the ingame limiter
