How powerful is the Intel® HD Graphics 2500? I mostly play LoL. My budget comes down to either getting ~240GB SSD and no GPU, or get a GPU and 1TB HHD. Any recommendations?

The integrated graphics is enough for those games and resolutions. I'd just buy a graphics card whenever you get a new game that can't be run smoothly or if you get a new monitor. In a year there could be a new generation of graphics cards available.

Or, as I mentioned, cut down places and include a new monitor in the purchase. An i5 and some of the parts aren't really doing you too much for those games. An i5 makes sense if you're playing new games later and keeping this build a long time though.

Is there a big difference between the 7750 and 7770? If so, then ill just save up and get the 7770.

Im not fond of using widescreen monitors so getting a new one is out of the picture.

Thanks everyone for the feedbacks!

In the grand scheme of things, HD 2500 sucks. A lot. Mid-tier HD 4600 integrated these days is 2-3 times better.

Can you squeeze a $50 graphics card in? HD 6570? That'd bring you about on the level of integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600.

Maybe you should just go the HDD route and HD 7770, though that's overkill.

Depends on workloads, but HD 7770 is about 30% better or so than 7750, which is in turn significantly better than 7730.

It's possible to run say 1440x1080 on a 1080p monitor if you really wanted, but I won't belabor the point further.

Or I can get a 120SSD + a HD7770 (this is the recommended entry level GPU right?) Any reason to suspect it to go on sale this holiday season?

if possible I would say put the SSD money into a better GPU and see where that gets you. if it doesn't make your purchase range remarkably better then go back to SSD funds. The SSD is nice (current got one after years of just HDD use) and its faster but nothing I would sacrifice other purchases for.

Well, I'm trying to get the best of both worlds by getting a smaller SSD for OS+few games, and an entry lvl GPU HD7770.

MSI Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition R7770-PMD1GD5 Video Card $79.99
VS
PowerColor Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition AX7770 1GBD5-HE Video Card $69.99

prices are both after rebate @newegg.com

Is PowerColor a respectable brand? If so, I'd probably pick the$70 card

Reviews look about the same. I'll take a chance and risk for a Taiwan Company.

yeah tell me about it.

but the price of the gtx 760 hawk went down again by $30 and Free shipping again.

unless im falling for the old "raise the price and decrease it to look like price reduction" trick

althought on amazon the same gpu (gtx 760 hawk) is at $310

$260 for a Hawk is good though I would have just picked up the ASUS one if you aren't going to be overclocking.

what the difference between those 2?
more specifically, why the ASUS one over the hawk for if not overclocking?

EDIT: most likely i will overclock my GPU though. I know i said im not going to, but after doing some reading on it, it just seems like i download a software and just move around cursors

Hawk uses something like a 6+2 power phase and requires 2x 8pin PCIe and the ASUS DirectCu II uses 5+1 I think and only requires 1x 8pin PCIe. I don't see the point in paying $10 more and losing out a $10 mail in rebate if you aren't going to be overclocking.

So I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card as a Christmas gift to myself. I've decided to go with a GTX 780, as it seems to be a very potent card for 2560x1440 gaming. I'm coming from a GTX 570 which is struggling to keep up since I upgraded my monitor.

I'll be purchasing from Mwave (here's all their GTX 780's).

I've narrowed it down to an AU$650 EVGA 780 Superclocked ACX and an AU$630 Gigabyte Windforce OC 780. From benchmarks I've read, it appears the EVGA OC card outperforms the Windforce card (and even a Titan in most cases), so I'm leaning towards it as an extra $20 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. What would everyone else recommend, is the Windforce more overclockable, or is the EVGA the better purchase here? Or are manufacturer-cooled AMD cards blowing everything else out of the water?

Well EVGA is one of the best brands for GPUs. They also have a Upgrade-Program where you can pay the price-difference of both cards and upgrade to a newer Card. (not 100% sure how this works). With EVGA you can't do much wrong.
