Hi,
I have bought Rat 9 few months ago.It was by far the best mice i used and i had no problems with it. Week or so ago suddenly cursor stopped working. Every button works but cursor doesntmove. I tried to unplug it , change battery , install drivers but it doesnt work. What is most strange part that after i disconnect it and connect it again next day it works for few minutes before suddenly stopping again. And i can same thing every day and it works for very short time before suddenly stopping and not moving again. I have to state again that every button works , there is connection i can click everything despite moving cursor wich stops and dont move at all.
I tried it with 2 pc's, diffrent slots , installed drivers , even had meanwhile update from win 7 to 8 and still have same problem. Its really strange since it normally works but stops after some period of time and all the time all other button works
Can anone help with this?
Thx in advance
Best Regards

Did you try cleaning the sensor? Ive heard of that issue with the RAT mice because of a tiny bit of dust on the outside of it and other stupid issues.
|
I tried i think everything. Not sure where exactly go to sensor and clean it up. But i dont think its a problem because it tottaly dont move now. Its not like its bad or worse but dont move at all. simply like it was tottaly off.
Maybe someone had similar problem or maybe you can tell me how to clean sensor. I tried to clean everything at the bottom but it didint help

I wrote to some services and one answered me that they dont repair mouse's and that problem is a laser that need to be changed. Can this be correct?

i have a rat 7 and though it is a great mouse the sensor is just incredibly sensitive, even the smallest thing on it can cause problems, and even "grainy" mousepads can really fuck with it. It sounds like you've checked the sensor a bunch so i doubt that's the problem, but you need to really be 100% sure you've cleaned it.

welcome to the frustrated rat owners club lol. you'd probably be better off looking for a different mouse. i was also a rat 9 owner, damn best mouse that i have used in terms of ergonomics and comfort but the sensor is just terrible. i bought 3 rat 9s over the past 2 years or so. the first one exhibited similar issues like yours after 3 months (sold it on ebay afterwards), the second rat's x-axis stopped working after 20 days (returned it to store for refund) and the 3rd one have issues with both x and y-axis (also sent back to the store for refund).

Another Rat9 owner here. Have also had issues with the sensor resetting the cursor location at random times, dpi sensitivity changing itself at random times, mouse only sometimes moving on its x-axis unless I blow on the sensor. All the problems that can ruin your game in a matter of seconds. Have lost games because of these issues and I intend on getting the mouse replaced soon, not with a Cyborg product. I've really loved using it when I'm not having these issues and I'm very disappointed to have to replace it as it's undoubtedly the most awesome looking mouse imaginable, but it's not worth the issues 90% of its users seem to get. Sorry to break it to you, but you made an unlucky purchase. You'll probably get more issues down the road.

I went through three RAT7's in less than three months, all exhibiting similar behavior to your issues. Fortunately the store I dealt with had a very forgiving return policy.
After the third RAT7 became unusable, I returned it and moved on to another make and model of mouse.
One of the things I found was that there was a lot of forum posts slamming the RAT series due to issues with the sensor. They released a patch which was supposed to fix tracking issues. It did nothing for me and, unfortunately, I can't find the link right now.
I loved the ergonomics and build/weight of the mouse. Sad they haven't addressed their issues.
Time to move on buddy.

Yep but the problem is i bought it on acution like Ebay but not from a shop but from a guy. Cant reach contact with him and probably lost guarantee with a move that i had 3 months ago. I love this mouse , ergonomics is great but i am not sure i am willing to spend another 130 $ bucks on a mouse that should have easily worked here. From what i see they give warranty for 2 months.
Hopefully i can send it to some service and maybe they can change laser or sth , cause everything works fine and clear, only this cursor...

$130???????
The mouse is awful, far worse than Deathadder or CM Spawn Storm unless the only thing you care about is the mouse shell, and they sell for a third of that price.

are there any mice close with look to R.A.T 9 ? I will have to buy new one then
How about also R.A.T 7 ? its half cheapier but only with cable ? I might like cable cause switching batteries in R.A.T 9 every day made me kind of pissed

TT esports level 10 Kiiinda looks similar, but it is equally pricey. It's said to be a damn good mouse though, and TT esports does a lot for the esports scene so i wouldn't mind supporting them.

I strongly advise you stay away from cyborg mice. There's none that I can think of that look like it, if you want a nice looking mouse and I'm guessing money isn't an obstacle if you want another RAT, then you could either get a razer mouse or a Feenix. Yeah, they don't look as wacky, but they're more reliable.

hi I have just installed my nice new rat 9 it ran perfect for a couple of minutes and now using it to surf the web it keeps jumping back to previous pages ,what the fsxk is going on? I installed the latest drivers I am running windows 8 , the red light on the receiver keeps flickering even if the mouse isn't moving if that's any help, the only reason I changed my mouse was that it kept double clicking and dropping everything I drag, please help its very frustrating..
|
As in it changes to the previous page you were looking at? The two thumb buttons by default are macro'd to go to previous/next page on the browser, you must be accidentally clicking the one closer to you. You can remove those binds or change them. If you're sure you're not pressing it, unbind it anyway and it'll still fix the issue.
The mouses sensor is incredibly sensitive is why the red light is blinking. If you jump up and down a metre away from your computer, it still activates the sensor.

Here is another sad RAT 9 owner - I too love my RAT 9, but alas, going on mouse #3 - and still the wild cursor jumping happens. I dunno - I wish they would fix it...

I have figured out a fix for the RAT 9 cursor issue. Upon purchasing my mouse and installing all the optional software, I discovered my cursor was performing incorrectly. It almost seemed to lag as I moved my mouse cursor across the screen. I have searched high and low for an answer on how to fix this problem, only to find that people were giving up and simply buying a new mouse. What I did was go into my Programs and Features under control panel and remove the RAT 9 Battery Charge Indicator. I then closed the actually indicator as it was still open on my desktop. Once I closed and removed that piece of software, my mouse is back to working flawlessly. There is absolutely no lag in the cursor whatsoever. I understand this is an old post, but considering a fix has been found I felt it necessary to share with all of you who no doubt have been stressed out and irritated by this issue. Hope this works for you, have fun!

Have a RAT9 for almost 2,5 years now. Half a year ago I noticed the same problem. All the buttons were still working, even the scroll wheels, but when I moved the mouse it did not move the cursor anymore. In my case the receiver did not even blink the red LED when I moved it.
I had exactly the same phenomenon that after not using it for a week or two it could be used for a few minutes.
I was very frustrated at this point.
Yesterday I once again tried to revive the mouse and it stopped working after a few minutes of usage as usual. I did read somewhere about putting it on a white piece of paper (my mat is dark) when powering it on and to my surprise it worked. I tried out my mat again and it did not work.
Finally I decided to clean the laser. First I tried to clean it without removing the plastic stuff around the laser (maybe for gliding) but a q-tip does not really fit well into it so I removed the plastic. After some cleaning with alcohol I tried it without the plastic in place and it worked again. Finally I put the plastic back onto the mouse and it was still working. Have been using it for 24h now without any problems.
I hope this helps at least some others.....it's a great piece of hardware, maybe even the best mouse, if the laser is not dirty and if you do not have a vibrating surface to use it on (for example PC vibrations).
Beside of the dirt it seems the plastic was covering part of the laser in my case.
