so i just tried to dl the installer and i got a trojan alert, is that normal? the separate binaries were fine, just the installer came up as a trojan with comodo firewall

also, i get about a 10 or so second delay in what im doing and what i see, anything i can change to fix that?

im on a i7 2670qm / 8g ram / gf555m

When I'm streaming, I notice there is a delay between my screen and the stream. I'm pretty sure that this is a combination of network latency (between me and Twitch and back to me again), and the various processing that I and/or Twitch are doing.

It shouldn't really be much of an issue in practice, though, because I can't think of anyone I've seen streaming that doesn't have some kind of delay in the stream, either purposely (in the case of partners) or for the reasons above (everyone else). Makes stream sniping/cheating just a little more difficult.

(Also, nice raw specs. I'm jelly.)

ah ok, much thanks, that works out then, wasnt sure if it was just me

the specs werent bad for a laptop, and i got it on clearance so it worked out great haha

I was wondering what i should set the bitrate to for obs?
have an AMD six core 3.3ghz processor Sapphire HD 7870 gfx card
with 22 down/10 up. I've tried setting it super low, like 1200ish and it always seems to be super choppy/laggy any suggestions?

I'm using 3000 bitrate with no problems.

I had "laggy" and choppy stream too, found out that it was a frame drop issue instead of networking issue.

I would suggest checking that Vertical Sync is disabled on whatever game you are playing and possibly
set the processor core affinities so that OBS and the game you are playing uses different cores. [ie. OBS = 0-2, Game = 3-6]

If that doesn't help, you can try to manually set up the server from Global Load Balancing Service to something
nearby. Maybe try couple of the closes locations from you. It's possible that you are connected to a server which
is not nearly optimal.

been having mic issues with obs lately. few days ago mic was picking up static on stream despite it being fine in ventrilo, ingame dota 2 etc. tried updating obs from .461 to .466 and now mic isnt getting picked up at all? ill test again when i get home tonight to see if restarting laptop fixes it

edit: the update and restart fixed the microphone issue.

does anyone knows how to disable teamspeak sound, while streaming?
F.e; I'm streaming and chatting with my friends. I'm also listening music while playing. I want the viewers to listen to my music, but I don't want them to listen teamspeak. Is that possible?

P.S: I have stereo mix.

Question not 100% related to OBS:
With the new H.265 specifications beeing finalized this week, will it be on the streaming software-end to support it and/or on twitchs?

Nanoko - for the ideal settings for your computer/network, use http://obsproject.com/estimator

TylerThaCreator - try out test 11 with the mic as well.

digit0xin - Gamma options will be available in the future

Pimpmuckl - h265 has to be implemented by adobe into flash for it to be usable. Even though h265 has been "approved", it apparently uses quite a bit more CPU than 264, so I'm not sure how realistic it will be until it's actually usable for live streaming.

Should I be adding 'Software Capture' or 'Game Capture'? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

^ More info at the bottom of http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=402

Your main options are [Software Capture > Monitor Capture], [Software Capture > Window Capture], and [Game Capture].

Monitor Capture will basically capture anything that you currently see on your monitor. Requires windowed/borderless games (no fullscreen). Monitor Capture can be a pretty big hit to performance. Not a good choice if you want to keep your desktop private and don't use SC2 Scene Switcher. You want Aero turned off for this.

Window Capture seems like a compromise between the Monitor and Game Capture. Pretty sure a game needs to be windowed for this method to work (no fullscreen), but it probably has less overall performance hit than Monitor Capture. You probably want Aero turned on for this (if Aero is turned off and a separate window covers your target window, it will overlap and you will stream part of the other window).

Game Capture + fullscreen setting in game has the least performance strain in my experiences (most times I can't even tell I'm streaming), but your viewers will only see the game you specify and won't see your desktop if you minimize. I also noticed that it doesn't capture Steam overlay (shift + tab) so your viewers won't see anything that happens there (may or may not be a good thing).

They all have their advantages and disadvantages. My setup: a separate scene for each game with Game Capture, a scene for desktop with Monitor Capture, and sometimes add a small Window Capture source in a scene to show Pandora info :D

This is depressing as fuck... I was happy to find a program with which my shitty computer could possibly stream with, and it's a bust.

I have a very generic computer
Intel Core i3
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD

The problem is every time I try to preview stream, it just says that I have a problem and it's either
1) I don't support DirectX10 (when I have DirectX11, so should this really be a problem?).
2) Something regarding Vista, when I run Windows 7.
3) Divers not being updated (which isn't the case).

So this comes down to an issue with DirectX10, which shouldn't be an issue... Wtf is going on here? I'd seriously love to test the program out as if I can stream while maintaining 30 FPS it'd be fun.

Also, Voyboy brought me to OBS, and google brought me here. All bow before the almighty powers of Voyboy, Google, and TL.net! (But not all at once because that's too much awesomeness to behold.)

Hey there, got a problem:

So i was streaming always and since i switched to OBS streaming is really not a problem in a slightes anymore. Today i wanted to stream and OBS asked me to update to 0.47 beta or something like this. I thought jeah, not a problem at all...

The problem is, since i upgraded my stream is very laggy. I dont mean myself playing, the upload is very slow and i dont know why. I just made a speedtest a couple times and i always have an upload speed of 4 MB/s..

Normally my settings are like 2600 upload and 2600 puffer. It has always been like this and i never had a problem. But as said, since this last patch of OBS he doesnt upload with that speed and i dont know why. When i look in the bottom right corner of OBS i can see at which speed he uploads and its always at a speed like 300-600 now and i really dont know why because he doesn't want to upload more.

What's this issue? I can down load with normal speed, upload everywhere else with normal speed like always.. just OBS seems to have problems since that last patch because as said. i dont have that setting on 600, they are on 2600.. he just doesnt do it for whatever reason :-7

can someone help me?

EDIT: Oh, and another thing.. is there a possibility to disable that OBS is recording Skype while i stream? didnt found something like this at options :-7

Can someone tell me whether or not OBS supports the AverMedia C985 HD Live Gamer capture card? I've always enjoyed OBS more than XSplit, but the only decent thing they've done is their support with AverMedia cards. I was just hoping OBS has done some kind of support for capture cards so I could finally make the switch.

I'm currently using it myself, as a form of input. It works well and without problems. I am using a splitter however, but it shouldn't be a big difference from your experience.

I don't think OBS supports the hardware encoding this card can provide, but I've heard it's not the greatest anyways (though still a nice option if your PC needs it).
