Maybe I am getting too paranoid with all my computer problems but.. when I listen closely near the laptop I hear a "tuh" sound softly every like 10-15 seconds. I watched some youtube videos of failing hard drives and all of the ones I heard were very noticeably clicking sounds that happened a lot more often than once every 10 to 15 seconds.. When I turned on the laptop I got a message from norton about some trial version of a program to store restore stuff incase hard drive failure or something which made me even more paranoid of the sound lol..
I am wondering should a laptop be making any noise inside other than spinning? When there is any noise from the speakers or something I can't hear the sound at all since its so quiet.

It's really hard to say, when you hard drive starts working you will hear the disk but as for the exact sound it makes that will depend on the placement of the laptop and if your applying weight on the laptop. If you have important information on the laptop backing it up is never a bad idea, failing hard drive or not. You can back it up virtually with a program like norton or use a wired/wireless back up drive. The ticking sound you mentioned is typical of failing hard drives but that doesn't mean all failing drives will exhibit that symptom. Was the "tuh" sound something that has been going for a while or is it recent? Are there any other symptoms? Below is a URL for a website on determing a failing hard drive. Unfortunately with just a simple sound not much can be said for certain.

I am not sure when the sound started.. I was trying to describe a sound about my monitor stand then realized my laptop inside was making a similar sound.. I ran some chkdsk program which repairs hard drives or something which took a long time but finished ok I think... But still I heard the sound once I started the computer. (while it was running though it wasnt making the sound).
From that link I dont have any of those problems... I am hoping its not failing cuz its not even my laptop I am just using it since my desktop died lol..
