I read the guides on mice on these forums, but they didn't have the solution I wanted.
Basically I have a razer spectre mouse, but this applies to any high dpi razer mouse.
When clicking in one place, the pointer shakes. The solution is to use a hard mouse mat. However, I do not like the hard mouse mat, I want to use my soft one because its warmer, firmer, and just has more control.
I used a hard mouse mat that has both a control side and a speed side, but the problem is that hand condensation gets on the hard mouse mat and when u go to your mini map, when the laser goes over the condensation, the mouse no longer responds. So using a hard mouse mat does not solve the problem, since everyone's hand sweats and produces moisture.
I was considering using a light glove with the hard mouse mat, but this is somewhat uncomfortable, and I can't "feel" my mouse under my hand.
So my question is:
Is there some solution to this that I can apply with firmware, software? Like, is it possible to make the laser not be so accurate by changing some computer settings in windows 7? Or are all razer mice just flawed in this way, and should I choose a different brand?
This shouldn't be happening on every Razer mouse. I have a razer deathadder and a razer abyssus and when I click in the same place my cursor doesn't shake. You must have a faulty mouse.
Your description seems to suggest a physical problem that as you click a button your mouse compresses the soft mouse pad underneath and causes the mouse to basically move against the surface, however minuscule, and shake the cursor?
Given the physical nature of the problem, I don't think there can be any way to completely mitigate the issue, however, I'd suggest turning down DPI. I have a Logitech G500 (also 5600DPI) on a (soft) Goliathus and doesn't seem to suffer from this, at ~2000 DPI at least. Are you playing on super high DPI, by any chance?

I have a Razer Imperator on this cloth mousepad: http://www.mionix.net/page.php?al=400 I keep it at 3000 dpi and I have had no jitters or any sort of precision problems, it behaves beautifully.
It had some driver/software problems at start ( kept disconnecting ) but now it works just fine.

Welcome to the world of phillips twin-eye sensors. That is inherent on every mouse which uses it. The only razer mouse you should ever buy is the deathadders, abyssus (with goliathus control or hard pad) and the discontinued salmosa.
Just tried it with my old DeathAdder (and my trusty G9X for good measure) on both a Razer Vespula hard mousepad and a soft Steel Series QCK+ mousepad and did not notice anything. The DeathAdder runs at 1800DPI and the G9X I tried at 1000 and 1500 (my default) and saw nothing, so it doesn't seem inherent to high DPI mice, perhaps just yours?
Maybe look into getting a hard mouse pad with a wrist rest if you are concerned about condensation (I never experienced that with my Vespula). It takes some adjusting but it can be quite comfy to use and keeps your wrist from making contact with the pad.
I've used Razer Abyssus for quite a while now i find its very reliable and durable. I use a steelseries softer mousepad and i have 0 issues, love my setup works great. If your willing to invest you can't go wrong with this one imho.
Deathadder with the Kabuto mousepad (I use a laptop, it's convenient) and I get perfect response with no jitter. Just switched from an old microsoft wireless mouse....that thing............I don't even have words for how unresponsive that was
I have the same problem with the logitech g9x, jitters on a soft mousepad, works good with hard one ( which I don't like). Mouse is at 1800dpi too, its quite annoying lol
My Razer Imperator on 3600dpi and a soft 5€ mousepad + Show Spoiler +
Similar to this
doesn't show those symptoms at all.
My guess is that your mousepad is horrible, however unlikely that is. If it works on a hard mousepad but not on your soft one, it's the only logical conclusion.
I just got used to mine and after a while it didn't shake as much, then didn't shake at all. Maybe it was because I got the back of a notebook (cardboard, the notebook you would write on) as a mousepad. It works really well.
imo razer products are not that reliable, they tend to break very quickly and i also find the build quality to be low. tbh i would recommend trying something other than razer for mice, try logitech or zowie. Both of them have a good range of really nice mice.
I use a razer spectre same as you, i get extremely minute shakes when i click, but i know and feel this is my hand moving it slightly, im talking minute in the fact that if i click this letter --> M <--- in the center, it wont get close to the edges.
If i slow myself down and click, no shakes at all so its clearly my hands movements.
My razer spectre is set to 2.8k DPI, win7 sensitivity 6/11, SC2 sens 54%.
I use a Razer Goliathus Control mousemat, i notice significant reduction in its precision when not paired with this, but i used it on surfaces, not other mousemats.
Im thinking you either got it set up wrong, or you have a faulty mouse.
I've got a Razer Lachesis and had my cursor shaking for no apparent reason.
Turns out it was the Wireless Mouse/Keyboard Set i had plugged for "remote control" purposes and forgotten about.
Although sometimes, even with the Wireless stuff unplugged, the cursor will jump to the top of the screen for no reason (which is something other users already experienced aswell). Other than that its a great mouse.

My first one did the same thing. I had it replaced, the new one was fine.
For the OP, it is definately the surface. I too don't like using a hard surface either but that is what it works best on. I use a sweatband to counter the problem of discomfort etc. Untill I find a softer mousepad that is sufficient (Not yet found one)
im assuming when u try to take the mouse in a straight line down your screen it wobbles back and forth. another way to test this, is go in paint and right your name or like a 4-6 letter word if your name is too long. if it is all jagged, your mouse is fucked.
If it is a result of either of the scenarios above: check your mouse feet, if they all have different ware, the mouse is at a different angle and its just bad. to fix this: call razer, ask for replacement mouse feet, go buy a new mouse @ store and return old one and you will in essence get new mouse for free, or buy "teflon tape" and use that for mouse feet, pro cs 1.6 players used to do that.
if your mouse feet are fine, there is something in the lazer. first try blowing on it (being careful to not get any liquid/saliva) in it. if that doesn't work, then get a can of air spray. if that still doesn't work, use a "Q-TIP" or equivalent cosmetic device to wipe down the surface inside it, then throughly blow it out w/ canned air. I have encountered all of the issues above so ya... hope this helps, send me a PM if it does.
Hey I was using the Razer Abyssus which never had any shakes during clicking on any ground (soft mousepad, wooden plate, white paper) Whatever, I got a Razer Spectre for christmas and was at first very amazed by all the settings, the glow etc. but I realized after playing OSU! that something is really off. I have jitters from low to high dpi during clicking, even from clicking with the mouse being static fixed it stil jitters a bit. Ive tried it at many dpi settings and with soft, hard mousepads, a book, a paper, my pure desk (wood). It works best on my desk, but stil, I need perfect precision, playing insane maps or clicking on a probe is instinct with the abyssus and I dont think I can reach that level of precision with the spectre which is way more expensive..
Iam very very upset because Ive read alot of positive hardware tests about the spectre before I told my parents that I wish for one. They dont know about the issue, but I stil feel bad because it costs a wtf huge amount of money (for us).
Is there stil no fix to it? Is there maybe a way to tell Razer its not working right and get the money back if its not fixable?
I really cant just sell it for less on ebay or sth with a good conscience :<
