Its got a Intel Core i5 460M / 2.53 GHz processor, 4GB RAM, and a Intel HD Graphics Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 graphics card.
Would this laptop be able to play SC2 without lag?

The minimum requirements for Starcraft 2 mandate a 2.6 Ghz processor, but you should be fine(there will be lag). You'll be playing on the lowest settings at a okay resolution, but it will lag significantly. The minimum requirements for Starcraft II is a 2.6GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor which is FAR worst than any current processor be it Intel core i3, i5, i7, or AMD Athlon II, Phenom II. It's not the processor that's the problem. It's the integrated graphics card.

It's not comfortable, it lags noticeably, but it runs.

As I tell many people, if you are not planning to spend over $1600 on a laptop for GAMING, do not even buy it. Nah, there's a few options available below that point if you're more interested in gameplay than graphics, depending on the game. But on integrated not counting, I pretty much agree. Me personally, I game on desktops and use laptops for email when my desktop is in a different time zone, but everyone has different priorities.

The title of this thread includes "without lag." I'm not denying the fact that it'll be capable of running the game.

The case is kind of flimsy and the speaker doesn't have the greatest quality, but it gives great price/performance. I smoothly play on low settings, but I can go higher with more lag. And in case you were wondering, the difference between an i3-380M and i5-480M to my understanding is just the ability to turbo boost.

I have the same specs (well, 6GB RAM, but whatever) and run SC2 on Low. Maxed battles are a pain, though.

Does your laptop have this problem? If it does, it's not all too noticeable. I wasn't really nitpicky when I purchased this laptop, I just wanted the specs for the price. The image is clear enough, it's not like it looks like a projector image.

Not really true, I bought a Gateway FX laptop (Core 2 Duo, Nvidia 9800M, 4GB RAM) last year for ~$850 that runs SC2 on Ultra at 30-40 fps even in big battles. It only has a Core 2 Duo, so it isn't the fastest for other things like video editing/encoding, but as a purely gaming laptop it is really nice.

I think he may have meant overall gaming, as opposed to purely Blizzard gaming. Blizz is notoriously nice to lower end systems. Even so, I'm with you in spirit, because you can get something functional for some value of gaming well below that point, as long as you don't expect desktop graphics out of it.

It can also run pretty much any game I throw at it at at least medium settings (Crysis 2, Dirt 2, UT3, a few others). I agree with you that gaming laptops get a lot of undue hate.

A 9800M is far superior to integrated graphics so obviously it's going to run many games at reasonable settings. I was responding to the claim that a gaming laptop under $1600 isn't worth buying. Anyway, to prevent derailing this thread further, here's a laptop that should run SC2 very well that I believe is in your budget: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6500360&CatId=4948

Here's a site I used to figure out how powerful of a graphics card I needed for my laptop. Hope this helps.

I just got a SC guest pass last week to see if my computer would run it. I have a Intel GMA 4500M Intergrated GPU (series 4 I believe) and it runs on low without lag. I have not tried medium or medium/low as it does not matter to me much (cuz I found out I can run it).
