i7 2630qm didn't come with Turbo Boost?

I just purchased an HP Dv6 Quad Core Edition laptop with an i7 2630qm 2.00 GHz processor and I have no idea how to enable Turbo Boost.

When I purchased the laptop online the processor explicitly said "with Turbo Boost up to 2.6 GHz"

However, I can't find any Turbo Boost program or monitor installed on my computer and I haven't found anybody with a similar situation after some quick searches. This core is supposed to be Turbo Boost enabled so I am wondering what the issue is. Was the program simply not installed on my system? Do I need to download it?

If anyone has any knowledge in this area it'd be greatly appreciated, I am not the most tech savvy user on these boards by any means

Turboboost isn't a program and there is nothing you need to do. It's automatically done by the processor for you.

EDIT: I figured it out, I downloaded a Turbo Boost monitor which shows that I am indeed getting greater than 2.0 GHz when needed, thank you

No, Windows does not include monitoring software. You'll have to download software such as CPU-Z yourself if you want to monitor clock speeds: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Keep in mind that your processor downclocks itself to save power if you are just on the desktop and turbo boost will only kick in when you are doing something that requires processing power such as gaming.

On a side note, are they implicitly trying to claim credit for Space Invaders / e-mail / Wi-Fi through association?

You can turn it off & on in your BIOS setup in case you ever want to turn it off

Do you mean you can force the clock speed up (ie overclock), or just turn on and off turbo boost?

I don't think so, they are playing the video game that was released and found it interesting, and then he introduces his friend to E-Mail, and Wi-Fi. Then they create i7, correct me if wrong
