Hello all, I have the Razer Death Adder 3500 DPI version and I've been having some issues recently. You may remember me from a thread I posted a while back about tracking issues with my DA, which I've resolved now. However, a new issue has come up that's driving me crazy (note that apparently I'm ADD as shit about this topic).

I bought a new Dethadder to replace my old one, and all of a sudden both left click and right click are very sensitive, to the point where it's difficult to play anything without noticing it slowing me down. Compared to my old DA, I can barely even feel the left and right click if I click hard enough, effectively forcing me to click lightly which isn't always reliable. I actually forgot to mention I bought another new DA before this one and returned it because I thought the sensitive clicking was a defect - the one I'm describing now is my SECOND new one with the same issue.

I guess my question here is, to anyone who owns/has owned a DA - have you experienced significantly weaker/more sensitive clicking compared to an older DA, or just in general? I'm wondering if all DAs start like this and grow to become more resistant, which I like, or if I just got two mice with a faulty batch of microswitches.

Thanks in advance.

I have a death adder and haven't had this problem yet. what i recommend doing (if you don't care about the mouse that much) is taking a screw driver and trying to lift the clicks up a little bit. They could be stuck to the base of the mouse making touching the mouse register a click.
Some people hurt people. I defenestrate those people.

I ditched my DA for that very reason, much much prefer my Xai.

It's not THAT bad - I still have to exert force for it to click, it's just that it feels like there's much less tactile feedback from the click.

I was thinking about the Xai as a replacement for my DA, but tbh i'm afraid of ambidextrous mice after my experience with the Razer Lachesis. I feel like it'd be pretty uncomfortable.

What confuses me is I can't find anybody else with this issue despite endless googling. Dunno if I'm just crazy or what...

The Lachesis is horribly uncomfortable and the tracking on it is terrible. I went from DA -> Lachesis -> Xai and I much prefer the Xai over everything else. DA was a great mouse but Xai is slightly better.

Yup

I made a blog post complaining about my DeathAdder's buttons being WAY too sensitive..

Where my fingers would just be resting and the buttons would still be pressed down. It was extremely annoying.

Apparently, it's just luck of the draw.

I thought all DeathAdders were like this and that my fingers were just really heavy or something but that's not the case. I've tried other display models when I walked into say FutureShop and the DeathAdder on display felt fine.

So I must have just gotten a bad one like you did with your second purchase.

Anyway, I didn't wanna take a chance on the DeathAdder again so I just bought the Razer Mamba which is the same thing except wireless and I haven't gone back.

I recommend you going to FutureShop because they accept returns/exchanges like it's nothing. Also they price match and take off an extra 10% so that's always good. (Their prices are pretty ridiculous for some products so make sure you force them to price match a competitor's price.)

P.S. (I exchanged my Mamba 3 different times just because I was testing out FutureShop's customer service and all three Mambas worked perfectly. Buttons were easy to click but not stupidly sensitive like with the DeathAdder. So I made my mind up that the Mamba was a pretty good mouse after that lol.)

I went from a Logitech MX518 to a Deathadder and the firs thing I noticed was how sensitive the buttons were, to the point where I could barely rest my fingers on the button whitout them registering it as a click.

Nowaways however, I hardly ever misclick, not sure if they've gotten more resistant or if I've gotten more used to it.

I'm like 99% sure that it was ment to be that way. Mine is, all my friend's DA are. I always thought that was a good thing that its very easy to click with. sure makes HoN very easy to play compared to my old mouse.

Had you considered that your first DA could have actually been the defective one, with the heavy clicks? If that was the case, you might just have to find a new mouse if you like tactile clicking.

I have never felt this problem with my DA, have owned 7+ months. Maybe ask razer for a replacement if that is possible?

I have the same model, I've had it for a long time, I never noticed that it only takes a "light" touch to click, I guess it does. If this is a problem you should get used to it after a little while.

Actually it's quite normal. I have a pretty large hand and I dont notice it. I have a xai also, and it's much harder to click, but I dislike the inherent mouse acceleration on the xai that cannot be disabled (hardware limitation)

My DA is not very sensitive, but has the double-click-bug, where i'll press the mouse button once, but do a double-click.
Very annoying.
I had to replace it after a month :/

I've owned 4 Deathadder mice and almost everyone with different actuation force. My first one was comfortable, but the second one you had to press further down and a bit more force into it. My third one was in between, you had to press a bit harder but the distance travel was much less but there was a defect on it. The fourth one was alot better! The distance travel is almost identical to my first purchase and with sensitive buttons but comfortable!

Only problems with the DA is the lift-off distance which is slighty high to my liking.

Sounds like an issue that would drive me insane. I'll definately be getting a Zai instead of a DA as I had planned to do. Thanks for the heads up and glglgl getting your problems resolved.

Xai is a good choice, I cant stand the ambidextrous shape though. My 4th and 5th fingers rest quite uncomfortably so I end up hanging them off the mouse (like artosis has in the wcg2005 video)

My case is definitely not as serious as the very slightest pressure resulting in a click; it still takes some; I definitely have to TRY to click, it just feels much more sensitive than my last.

It sounds like to me I just got a batch that has a weaker actuation force. I can probably get used to it, but I'm thinking the click becomes more firm the more it's used anyway; could anybody explain why that would happen, cus I can only imagine it getting more sensitive with time?

That is strictly your opinion. I have a Lachesis and I don't find it uncomfortable at all. Though I do have rather long fingers, but it's not nearly as bad as you say it is.

i had 2 death adders in the past and they worked perfectly, they were the old 1800 dpi version tho
my friend owns the respawn version and doesnt have this problem

but i also had to rma a razer blackwidow due to bad switches on ctrl and shift and this could be happening to mice aswell
has left the game.

Get a Xai. They are sexy good. I was deliberating between the two mice and I can say I'm really happy with my Xai. My friend bought a DeathAdder and I actually think the Xai is more comfortable, even with it being ambidextrous.

And have every right to be. Every product that i have had from them in the past year or so has failed.

My Imperator more specifically, and its because of its terrible drivers and firmware.

Just when I thought I had gotten used to the sensitivity (or the click was becoming more sturdy), the left click is feeling sticky... >.< Any idea what could be causing this? It is MUCH harder to left click than it is to right click now.

Bump - any idea what might be causing a sudden overly strong resistance in my left click, while my right click is fine? Anyone else have experience with this? Is it temporary? ATM it's pretty hard to double click which can be a pain in SC2 >.<.

There is a very large space between the buttons and the mouse with the DA, check under the mouse and see if there is anything obstructing. I personally use a precise screwdriver to clean my DA.

Do you mean you actually open up the mouse to clean it? I see that large space near the microswitch, but really can't see anything just looking through the opening.
