I am having problems with my stream being a little choppier then I think it should be. My computer stats are 2500k gtx 570 8 gigs gskill
http://www.twitch.tv/masternook/b/295885397 Like in this video it runs ok but not really smooth.
I am using the settings from http://www.xsplit.com/blog.php?post_id=267 this post, do you think it is better to do my own custom settings? Does any one have any recommendations? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

im considering streaming sc2 on medium (textures ultra) once i get my new pc build 4GB ram (1333) ati(amd) hd 6770 gpu intel i5 cpu
my speedtest is
if i cant stream with more than 20fps without suffering some severe lag then i dont intend to, but its good to know if its possible

Im having a issue where its only showing a PORTION of my screen, zoomed in. I already checked the scale viewpient % (which is "actual") and lowering that doesnt do anything... Heres a link to a quick example so u can see.
Havent streamed in like 2 months, trying to start again

I can play on ultra no problem, but streaming is not good. It is choppy as hell, and the quality is terrible, I have messed with numerous settings as well. I cannot for the life of me get a stream thats watchable, I have read through the thread and cannot figure it out, I would greatly appreciate any help I can get on this topic! Thank you so much guys. www.twitch.tv/thegreenbaymonster
I just watched this VOD where everything looks fine! I'm guessing you solved your issues then? Otherwise please do post all of your XSplit settings (resolution+fps+screen-shot of settings).

Use bit rates that correspond to your stream resolution, ie. ~2000 kbit/s for a 720p stream. Set quality to 10. b) On custom settings: Use only if you know what they do - otherwise stick to the presets.

Don't go for just 20. You should read this (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=220584) for additional information (your question is answered there too).

I believe the best way to fix it, is to re-do your presentation. Create a new, or delete all regions/scenes and make them again. Also when adding full-screen applications don't drag the size of the region, just single click somewhere in it. b) The viewport setting has nothing to do with the output of the stream. It just scales the preview-window for a better fit on the desktop.

Just posting this information here too, as it's rather important - and might distribute the load on JTV better:
Use this forum post to find the best JTV server to use: https://www.xsplit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1597
Howto update the server-list in the JTV plugin: http://www.xsplit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2171
Also, there have been some discussions about why the JTV plug-in changed it's default buffer size from x2 of the VBV max bitrate to the equal/same size. Was it a mistake? Was it intentional? Who knows, but it's not good for everyone. Some argue it helps to run with a lower buffer than the max bitrate, others the opposite. Since the buffer is only relevant for the viewer, I think it's mostly placebo effects:
by WhatsaParog » Wed Sep 14, 2011 6:23 am http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Encoding_Suggestions#VBV_EncodingThe h.264 VBV model is based around the idea of a "VBV buffer" on the decoder side. As the h.264 stream is downloaded by the client(viewers) it's stored in the VBV buffer. A frame must be fully downloaded into the VBV buffer before it can be decoded. Keep in mind someone with a really slow connection will see your stream as being complete garbage if it's too high. The closer they are to the VBV Maxrate, the closer it is to the actual quality of the upload. If anyone is reading this for anything else than live streaming, it acts differently for other scenarios, check the above link. Source: http://www.xsplit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1956

I have a i5 2500k Radeon HD 5770 and 8gib ram, 20/5 connection and i cannot stream in 1280 x 720 withe verything on low in SC2 using Xsplit, my framerate in SC2 drops to like 30 in non fights. Shouldnt i be able to stream in this quality? Have a bitrate of 2000 and a buffer thingy for 2000. My native res is 1680 x 1050.

Are you not happy with the performance? Just so you know, streaming *will* impact your gaming experience (some FPS drop and slight lag-input - read some more posts/threads to know what to expect).
What is your stream FPS set to? Also, you mention the FPS drops to ~30 in non-fights..... what is it like in fights then?
Finally, it might be this bug: https://www.xsplit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2280

Is it suppose to lag you if you watch a stream and stream at the same time lag you? fps drop? Like couple weeks ago, I was able to watch my own stream and stream and ladder at the same time but I'm not able to do it now. I've not changed any settings and if I watch 2 stream while not streaming it would make my pc so much lag. It might be firefox maybe, because I had couple updates from them. The "plugin-container" always like messing up.
My specs: GTS 250 i5 750 (not oced) 4gb ram
I usually have 40gb+ download but it is slow at the moment.

For some reason they wont send me an activation email... any clue why? I've resent it like 10 times.

Hey, I have E8400, HD 6870, 4gigs of ram and 2mb upload. If I changed my cpu to Q6600 or better, OC it to around 3gigs, set affinity so that SC2 used 2 cores and xpslit 2, would I be able to get 960x600 stream without getting ingame fps drop? I currently stream 960x600 with my E8400 and while stream doesn't lag, quality is quite shit (doesn't need to be much better tho) and my fps ingame is around 20-30 (horrible to play with).

I'm surprised you're having trouble, what fps are you trying to stream at? If you set your fps to 20 with mid quality and 500kbps you shouldn't have a problem. If you're bottlenecked though, it's definitely either the CPU or you're running too many programs at once.

My screen res is 1920x1200 and im compressing it into 960x600. That may affect it?

You CPU is definitely the bottleneck here. While I cannot give you any guarantees for your goal, it will definitively help to some degree, to upgrade the CPU. Measuring quality is subjective though - be sure to aim for something realistic . Generally I advice people to up their resolution, rather than play around with compression algorithms, simply because you quickly run out of tweaks/tricks when displaying ie. a 480p on a 1080p monitor. I'm not sure what your stream looks like though, maybe post a VOD?
For some idea of what you're thinking of getting, see this: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/charts/index.php?pid=65,69,73&tid=8
And yes, your desktop resolution is also a factor.
Oh, and I strongly advice against streaming with 20 FPS. i) On low-end rigs like yours, XSplit basically caps your ingame FPS to that of XSplit. ii) For any semi-hardened stream watcher 20 FPS is crap to watch.
|
Yeah, seems like even Q6600 is better (4 cores as opposed to 2, and I would be trading my current cpu for it (someone might want higher clock speed for stuff that doesn't require more cores)).
I plan to stream 960x600 until I someday upgrade to i5 or something. And you think 25 fps would be good enough?
Also, any ideas if I can host VOD in own3d?
