Setting up mouse sensitivity with Logitech Setpoin

Hi all,

I recently bought the Logitech G9X and with it came a application called 'Logitech Setpoint'. But I am not sure how to setup my mouse sensitivity properly. Currently my mouse precision is really slowing me down ingame. I want to work on that, but before I start I want to have optimal settings.

I have three options in Logitech Setpoint:
DPI
Mouse Speed
Mouse Acceleration

Currently I have set DPI on 5700 (max).
Mouse speed on zero.
Mouse acceleration on zero.

My question is, is it good to have mouse speed on zero? I read somewhere that you need to keep this default (in the middle). But I also read you need to use highest DPI possible.

Thank you for your help in advance!

You dont need the highest DPI possible. (as day9 says) but turn it down on 1600-2000.
About the mouse speed on zero, i dont know if its good or not..

if your mouse precision sucks then more then anything else you need to find settings that fit you speed wise and just practice.

evrything else doesnt matter that much. no matter how accurate your mouse and settings might be if the speed doesnt fit you wont hit anything.

that said i dont know how the logitech tool works. if it changes the pixel/movement its optimal to get it to a neutral 1:1 setting (6/11 in windows, ~53% in sc2) and adjust dpi from there.

if it doesnt then just pick any setting that you like.

depends. i use currently 3300 dpi with my imperator . so to play how i like it i couldnt use a mx518 with the same precision for example.

esp freely adjustable dpi is a very nice thing to have to fully customize your settings.

ofc you never NEED that. but its nice when your mouse adapts to you instead of the other way round

You basically want to start with:

Use OS native drivers for pointer speed and acceleration: disabled
Enable angle snapping: disabled
Speed: 5
Acceleration: 0

You shouldn't have mouse speed set to zero because you lose precision (skips pixels). Having speed set to 5 in setpoint gives you 1:1 movement. I also assume you are using 6/11 in the windows mouse settings dialog. Again, anything other than 6/11 you end up skipping pixels.

Set your DPI to a comfortable level. Just because your car can do 200mph doesn't mean you start driving that fast everywhere. Same deal with mice. Just because it can do 5700 dpi doesn't mean you should set it that fast. It all comes down to preference.

I personally use 1200 dpi @ 1920x1080 and 600 dpi @ 640x480 (Brood War).

Thank you all very much for your replies! Very helpful.

I have set speed to 5 and DPI to 1100 now. Feels very good! I play on 1680x1050.

OS native driver pointer speed and acceleration -- disabled -unchecked of course

Report rate: 1000

How does report rate affect your gameplay? apparently the mouse report to the operating system more 1000 times/sec...and it just feels the same compared to 500 times/sec

Any ideas on this report rate setting?

The report rate is just how many times a second the mouse updates it's position. The higher the better.

As long as the report rate is set high enough that the mouse feels smooth to you that is all that matters. There is no downside that I know of to just have it set as fast as it can go.
