The MX518(i own one) is ALMOST identical to the G500, the hump seems to be a bit lower than the G500 though and the plastic is a grease magnet, but its cheap as hell. Or, a G400 with the new plastic has the exact same shape as the MX518 and doesn't pick up as much grease but costs just as much as a G500.
you have many other options for Palm Grip mice, i heard the DA is quite good too but i personally hate the shape of it, the Ikari is quite comfortable for all palm/claw grippers but its quite expensive so you might want to pick up the Optical version, and the Xai is a pretty nice mouse too because of the size.

The Xai is a great mouse and the Sensei should be too, since they're practically identical and should perform the same.
identical in terms of look/feel, but the insides are different
of course steelseries is going to say the sensei is more advanced and everything, but I have yet to try it out myself
that 32 bit arm processor is beastly.
No, the insides are basically the same. It's using the same Avago 9500 sensor, the only thing different is the firmware which allows the extra acceleration/negative acceleration if you want it. The 2x CPI is through a digital zoom, which sucks.
Having a more powerful processor in there means nothing. It's the same as when Razer talks about 5600 CPI being better- it sounds good but it doesn't improve performance. Nothing else has really challenged the Deathadder's precision level.
Everything else about the Sensei, the materials, shape, etc. are great but there's nothing revolutionary about its technology. It's still using the same 3 year old technology the Xai, G9x, G700, G500 and a bunch of other mice use.
so, a quick question here,,I'm currently deciding on buying a new mouse for my new setup, but I'm kinda stuck between 2 mouses,, Logitech G9x and Razer Deathadder 3.5G Black edition... Can someone tell me which is better in terms of performance and comfort ?? My hand size is quite large.. just saying....... help will be much appreciated.
My initial reasons when choosing these 2 mouses as candidates : Deathadder seems to have gotten a lot of good reviews... IMMVP uses Logitech G9x
They're just two completely different mice. Deathadder is big and heavy, while G9x is small and light.
I've owned a Deathadder which I really liked, until I bought the Abyssus. Abyssus is really light and small and I like it much better.
Now I'm considering buying the G9x though as I would like to be able to store profiles on my mouse, but I'm reading it has some accelleration so that's a turnoff..
Just got my Steelseries Sensei two weeks ago after using the Steelseries Ikari I have to say I really like the mouse, it feels really smooth and the mouse precision is very good. The mouse overall feels a lot better than my Ikari.
I see,, i also heard that there are some problems with the cord on G9X (sometimes it made the mouse stopped working, or the wire poked out of the fabric)
So I just bought the G9x mouse, and I'm returning it tomorrow.
Short summary:
+ Great sensor (no prediction, no acceleration) + Great drivers (can adjust DPI settings in increments of 100, both for X and Y axis) + Stores profiles on the mouse + Small mouse, a little smaller than my Abyssus in length + Scrolling feels amazing
- The mouse is very heavy. I didn't weigh it but it felt like a brick compared to my Abyssus, even without the added weights. This is the reason I'm returning it. - Grip isn't very comfortable for me (nowhere to place my ring finger) - Right mouse button is quite hard to click - Scroll wheel is hard to click
I use the Mionix Naos 3200. Great feel and has grooves for both ring and pinky fingers. I leave it at max 3200 dpi, as the 1600 and 800 dpi modes are too low for me. Pretty light-bodied compared to my old wireless logitech. I haven't had any problems with it yet. Anyone have any opinions about this mouse or how it compares to others?

I have to disagree with what you say about the sensor. There IS a small amount of acceleration on the sensor (Even with it switched off in software), though it's hard to spot in normal use for us normal folks. If you do actually look for it, you can find that moving the mouse to and from the same spot on your pad at different speeds won't always return the pointer to the same point on the screen.
On the other hand, I don't find the right mouse button at all hard to click, so maybe that's a manufacturing defect (my scroll wheel IS pretty hard, though), and ergonomically it is the business for me, with the precision grip on - I don't have any problems siting my ring finger on the edge of the mouse and using it to help push it around. Maybe it's a fingertip-grip thing. I'm keeping mine!
I guess I got used to my Abyssus' right click... it will click while just resting your hand on the mouse.
And no, the sensor does not have any accelleration. I tested it at different DPIs and also checked it with Mouse Pointer Tracker. Maybe it's the mousepad / software version / OS you are using. If the sensor does have accelleration it is VERY minimal / unnoticable.

No, no, no, and yes, the acceleration is somewhat hard to spot. As I say, most people have to look for it.
Logitech have admitted they've found an issue with this sensor, or at least that it's not technically acceleration, but it's acceleration-like.
From their forum helpdroid, CharlesB. They don't seem much more helpful than this post, alas.
"vipah - to clarify, we've been able to see something that ISN'T acceleration technically, but it could be related to the perceived acceleration of this mouse. I sent an update request email yesterday, but I haven't received a response yet."

The scroll wheel is kinda notorious for that. I love my G9x. The top buttons aren't difficult for me but I'm used to it. I don't use a grip because I like tiny mice. The side buttons take getting used to with no grip but I actually like them better without the grip.
I actually have been going back to my old DeathAdder lately. I use it only on my Mac now since Razer's Mac drivers are much better. I may try using it again, though I still have a few issues with the touchy left mouse button.
Okay, sorry this has taken so incredibly long, things have been really really crazy (had actually been over 3 months, so thank you R1ch for unlocking the OP!).
First, I added a shiny new banner (made by me ) and cleaned up the OP drastically. I have started adding some of the content from this thread in as well. I know there's more but I need a break, phew. I know there are a few new threads around TL that should really be linked as well, if there's one you want to see linked post a reply.
If you have any reviews, buying advice, crazy insight please PM me and I will add it to the OP, providing you have put some reasonable amount of effort into it. If you just post it, might be another six months before it gets updated hee hee. But really, please send me stuff so we can create the best go-to mouse help place for TL!
Can the people that got a Sensei share their thoughts? I have a Deathadder at the moment and jsut wondering if it would be worth for me to make the switch.

I felt the same way when I bought my G9x, especially with the grip. I also didn't like the skids that came along with it.
Bought the CM storm spawn, never been happier. It's small, light and very comfortable to use if you are claw gripping the mouse. My index, middle and ring finger tips rests very comfortably because of its unique design and the rubber grips on the side of the mouse makes my pinky and thumb feel like home. It is also way cheaper than the g9x.
