Im not sure if im being clear with this. Ive got a Lacie elctron 22 blue III monitor with an 4:3 aspect ratio. The thing is, when i use any 4:3 resolution (SC2 recommends me to use 1600 x 1200 which coincidentally is the one i use for my desktop) is like, instead of the normal way you see all -like, from certain height-, the camara had just come waaaay closer and kinda in an angle.. Ive been reading a lot, and ive actually seen pictures of the difference between 4:3, 16 and 16:10.. and the only major one is the horizontal view. What the hell is going on... if i set a resolution of 16 in my monitor the layout would be like its supposed to be, although, kinda stretch out. Any one knows how to fix this?
Thx
PD: i read about keeping the aspect ratio, so maybe i coudl play 16 and had 2 horizontal black lines, but the nvidia driver i have doesnt give me that option, and for now, i rather not change it.

OP is largely incoherent, but I think maybe you're talking about scaling?
Is the problem that you want to use a 16 : 9 resolution on your 4 : 3 monitor? If so there is either a windows setting or GPU driver setting to change scaling
either scaling off, scaling with fixed aspect ratio, or just all scaling on (which would distort the image and stretch it one way or the other.)

Not sure what you're trying to say, but SC2 seems to set its zoom based on the vertical pixel count without referencing the horizontal. So people with 4:3 displays (like you and me) lose a lot of the left and right side of the view that's available to people with widescreen displays.
Inexplicably, Blizzard didn't program a letterbox mode for people with 4:3 monitors (is this 1998?). So you're stuck with the view until you get a new monitor, or unless you want to stretch your display. I'm almost positive this has already been posted on, however...

I'd use a 1600x900 mode and either squash it down to square pixels with the monitor's knobs or add some overscan in the Nvidia driver.

I thought it was way clear.. imagine the default layout of SC, any replay in youtube, day[9] cast, anything.. what i mean by layout im refering to the way you look all you see in your screen. Okay, that it. Dont consider the aspect ratio in the way we all know, that is, more or less horizontal view to put it quite simple. What is happening to me is that whenever i play i the 4:3 aspect ratio (my monitor's ratio) instead of seeing all in the normal 'layout', is like if it was zoomed in. Other way i can explain it is like being in the game in using your mouse wheel to zoom in, so you are very close, well, that is.. in my normal 'map view/layout' im very near, so, mi FOV is nothing like it should be. I cant take a screenshot cuz whenever i do it just comes fine, like it should look.
maybe im just so used to replays and playing on a widescreen that this is actually normal, but i really thinks is very very close..

If you're used to replays (Day9 Dailies e.g.) you'll feel super zoomed in on a 4:3. That's because you're losing vision of the sides of the display vs. a widescreen monitor. If you can get your GPU to display at a widescreen resolution without stretching, you can run SC2 in windowed/fullscreen mode and it will letterbox your display. Everything will be smaller, but you'll be able to see more on the sides and 'feel' zoomed out (even though it's not really). However, in my experience it can be really hard to get some systems to do that reliably. On my laptop I never got it to work, but I can do it on my desktop.

yeah, i think all my problem might be that, because i didnt find anyone in any forum with this problem (which would be weird), and ive seen SOOOOO much replays in day[9] dayly, HD, husky... i guess its just im not used to. What i have JUST done is change my game resolution to 16 : 9 and in the settings of the monitor I clicked the button to stretch the vertical view, now i have two black spaces above and below the game but is like a widescreen inside a 4:3 :D The interesting thing is that when i go to mi desktop (alt + tab) the stretching is gone and my 1600 x 1200 resolution (of my desktop) looks fine... thats weird, dont you all think? Man, my Lacie monitor is so intelligent. Thx all and sorry if a mislead you.
