Avexir Blitz 2000mhz CL9 1.65v 2x2gb
$36

See this is why I prefer 2x2gb of RAM over 8gb.

Anyways, as I understand it, this RAM is some of the best ICs out there, and will give enough of an overclock difference over any $25-30 2x2gb RAM out there, enough that it'd be a noticeable difference in real applications (2400mhz CL7 seems to be easily doable on these with regular volts).

I've been trying to find basically the cheapest ram I can get 2x2GB for a while now, and I did miss a few good deals, but this ram for $36 seems to be a really, really good deal.

Case benches like that are useless. Manufactuere throws in a $2 fan, charges you $10 more for it, and the case is hailed as the best performer. An additional fan will generally cool your system about 5-1*C per extra fan, from 1 to 2 fans to 5 to 6 fans.el

NZXT fans are crap, they are weak as shit and fairly loud for as weak as they are (something like 30cfm and as loud as 70cfm yate loons). You generally wont see high quality fans on cases below $50, much less on cases even as high as $100.

Source 210 is a great case (elite, eh, not really worth it unless you find it at $40 or less) but no way is it a better case than the 200r or HAF XM. Its just at $17, its an amazing deal, and even at $40 its decent (im not sure id go for it at $40, or more than $30 frankly).

Heya, after having my computer for over 4 years now i've decided to build my own computer for the first time.

I don't really have much knowledge of all this stuff, so im just going to post all the questions and await the replies, thanks in advance ;-).

What is your budget?
Around 800-1000(euro).

What is your resolution?
1920x1080.

What are you using it for?
Mainly gaming, photoshop and some streaming on the side.

What is your upgrade cycle?
3-4 years.

When do you plan on building it?
As soon as possible.

Do you plan on overclocking?
Not at all.

Do you need an Operating System?
Nope, covered.

Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
Nope.

Where are you buying your parts from?
http://www.pixmania.com / http://www.ebuyer.co.uk

Thanks again.

Well, without looking for reviews to verify quality of the individual batches of the chips used (because let's face it, that shit takes forever to do, and usually just effects DOA and percent over-rated), you'd probably want one of the two low voltage kits.

Just like last time you were asking about RAM, though, nobody here can really give you as definitive of an answer as you're hoping for. You can guess as to what can be done with a kit, but without knowing how the batch's components are working out overall, you can't be very sure. Sometimes you just hit the wall before you'd expect to no matter what.

The problem is that it's impossible to find reviews or IC lists on 2x2s/2gbs.

Someone offered me some Patriot G2 1600 2x4gb's. And the cheapest of those rams, the crucial ballistix that light up, I think is supposed to be bad(??? i think someone said they were okay).

I think I'll avoid the higher end 2x2s.

Okay, so this is my SC2 focused -but can play other games @1080p- build! It's ~$500 right now, but I'll wait a little for rebates on the PSU or other things. HDD, OS, Optical Drive not needed, since I'm getting them elsewhere.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xMcY

I know 8GB of RAM is a bit too much but I like to multitask a lot, and I figured I might as well get it. I like the Antec case though if there's a similar style case for ~$10 less, I wouldn't mind getting the cheaper one.

Building a new system. Got a few parts picked out with my own research and some friends recommendations, but I'm not too sure about motherboard brand/quality/what to look for besides matching the obvious specs.

Looking for a board for an i5 3570 - not particularly interested in playing with overclocking (though the processor I picked up happens to be unlocked).

I don't know Biostar - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/biostar-motherboard-h77mu3 is this a decent board? It appears to have what I want (including usb3, which will be nice for my external hdd)

I do have a Microcenter nearby.

Currently committed to:
i5 3570 processor
16 gb ram (1600 DDR3)
Case (ATX)

Other things I'm looking at:
1~2 TB hard drive - leaning towards a seagate 1.5TB atm.
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st1500dm003
~120 GB SSD - read that the samsung 840 has exceptionally good benchmarks... advice here?
Motherboard (above)
Video card (looking at the ~$150 range - unsure)

have ~$400 of budget left for these parts of the comp.

What size of motherboard does your case support? ATX? mATX? mITX?

We don't know what your going to use the computer for. Only thing I can say right now is that 16GB of ram is a stupid waste of money.

A core i5 3570 is not an unlocked processor, a core i5 3570k is unlocked. Suffixes makes a HUGE difference. Microcenter has the 3570k for $190, it doesn't list a 3570, and has the 3470 for $150.

Samsung 840 is a good choice.

~$150 range for video cards would be a GTX 650 Ti and Radeon HD7850 1GB.

If you're not overclocking and not looking for anything special then you can just select the least expensive B75 / H77 board from whatever brand you prefer.

Was hoping for confirmation on Biostar, but it's an H77 board with all the features I want, so I guess I'll go with it.

It's actually the 3570K model - I got it from microcenter the other day (which, as you mentioned, doesn't carry the locked model)

How to decide between NVidia and ATI? Should it just come down to brand loyalty or are there significant differences based on application of card?

Why didn't you purchase a motherboard with the processor when you bought it? Microcenter offers motherboard discounts when you purchase the 3570k, you can get a P8Z77-V LK for like $70 (a $140 value, better than the Biostar in every way).

Well, 7850 performs better (and is also more expensive) then the GTX 650 Ti. Certain games and software favor Nvidia over AMD and vice versa.

We don't know what your going to use the computer for. Only thing I can say right now is that 16GB of ram is a stupid waste of money.

What are you using your computer for and what is your monitors resolution?

Current Monitor goes up to 1920x1080, wouldn't mind getting a second one though.
I'll be using the computer primarily for gaming, coding, data manipulation, and a/v editing. (approx in that order)
Upgrade cycle ~5y hopefully?

I'll ask @ microcenter since I only got the processor yesterday if I can pick up a board like that with the combo deal.

Since I'm not super-bleeding-edge when it comes to games, I'll probably go with the GTX 650. If I get a card with 2 dvi outs, can I add a second monitor to it easily?

Yes, most modern GPUs along with current Intel motherboards alone can support three or more monitors.

If I only have DDR2 memory and plan on upgrading to a new motherboard will it work on DDR3 mobos?
What does it matter how I loose it?
