Maybe someone can help me.
I ordered a computer from NCIX and I've been busy the last week or so and haven't had time to put it together. I finally started piecing it all together but I noticed some of the side fans (120mm) cords drape/rest/touch the top (circuit board part) of the GPU.
Is this an issue? I'm pretty new to building my own PC, so I'm not sure if this is acceptable or not. Will the cords melt if the GPU heats? Or is this generally safe?
Thanks

As long as it isn't in the way of fans, it's not an issue.

awesome thanks, care to help me pick a monitor?
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Category/LCDMonitors looking for 1920x1080
whats the best bang for my buck? I don't really know the difference between 5ms and 2ms response times, or the contrast ratios. Is it even noticable?

EVGA gtx 550 Ti
asrock h67m
WD blue caviar 500GB
crucial ballistix sport 2x4gb
cooler master elite
Acer Led backlight 20"
and im buying windows 7 and a cd/dvd drive through amazon because its cheaper. any tips or upgrades would be appreciated with EVERYTHING its about 750 which i am cool with so if you wanna mix and match to that price be my guest. thanks for the replies ladies and gents.

550 Ti is not a good deal when you can get a 6850 or a 460 for similar pricing and they both blow it away.
You don't need 1600 speed RAM if you can't afford excellent everything else.
You need a PSU with that badboy.
You also might want a disc drive. Maybe.

Newegg is out of stock on 460s.

the monitor, is it bad because its acer or its just a bad monitor? im going through new egg but i like the improvements thank you

Acer's low-end cheap stuff tends to be low-end and cheap (but you don't particularly want their more expensive offerings either). Nobody's low-end cheap stuff is good, though.
You're probably not going to make it under $750 at newegg/Amazon. It's not a big deal, but with that kind of selection and ignoring mail-in rebates, I'd take the Rosewill Green Series 430W for $40: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182202
newegg video card prices in that range seem about $10 high. The options between a GTX 550 Ti and HD 6850 are HD 7770 and GTX 560 SE, if you need to drop down slightly.

Also Acer's low end hardware need to have a hilariously high level of defects to actually be considered defective. They're cheap for a reason.

i took your advice and got the customers award winner asus 21.5 its only 30 dollars more and id rather have my monitor quality than have to return it. im gonna stick with the 6850 seems like a really solid card.. i am at 700 excluding OS which is 85 from amazon and i have prime shipping through them ^-^
thanks so much for your input it really helped.

6 month upgrade cycle? What?
Yeah you're not going to run max settings and maintain good FPS (whatever that means) with only $500.
Search for these products in Newegg: Motherboard: ASRock H61M-DGS Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 PSU: CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 or CX430. CX430 is cheaper on the spot but CX500 has a larger rebate. GPU: GIGABYTE Ultra Durable VGA Series GV-R685OC-1GD Radeon HD 6850 Chassis: Antec One HDD: Toshiba 7200RPM 500GB Optical Drive: Pick the cheapest DVD one on the market.

I just bought a GTX 560 ti for cheap with the intention of bridging it to my existing GTX 560, I was missinformed about the bridging with nvida, and it appears that i have a spare graphics card wasting space now... is there anyway i can clock down my ti to allow to bridge the two 560's?

A TI and a non-TI are different GPUs, so no.
Different amount of cores. What brands are they, where did you get them, and who misinformed you?

No. SLI requires identical cards.
