I'd like to know if I could run sc2 on the lowest lowest possible settings with my crappy laptop before I waste a beta key.
This is what it says on my system data: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.5 GHz Ram: 2 gb but I could easily replace it to 3 gb if that would make the difference And I think this is my video card Mobile Intel® GM965 Express chipset featuring the Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
thanks if anyone can help me out

I'm really interested in this chip as I believe i'm currently CPU bottlenecked with a E8500.. It seems from what i've read (legionhardware review) that the extra cores, cache and even clock (when overclocked) of the i7-980x would really benefit sc2 alot.
I'm not saying that sc2 would actually use all 6 cores, but from their review it seems clear that more cores DOES make a difference, even though it doesnt full utilize all the cores.
lol srsly? you don't need a cpu anywhere NEAR this powerful to max out sc2 what's your video card? why are you so sure you're bottle necked with an E8500? Are you over clocking?

A quick update for macbook (or future) users, I was able to get a beta key through my friend and we were playing 2v2s today. I asked him to check his FPS and he said he's got:
25-30 fps on medium 60 on low
His specs (he owns a 13-inch macbook):
2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB DDR3 memory 250GB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

My laptop's got switchable graphics (it can use either a discrete card or the Intel GMA 4500, which is somewhat stronger than the 3100). With the Intel GMA 4500, it runs from maybe 5-25 fps on lowest at 1280x800. It goes into slideshow-mode fps levels whenever anything noteworthy is happening on the screen. I don't think you'd want to play with your laptop, although somebody else may have a different opinion.

Your laptop will not be able to play SC2 ! Not only is your GPU weak, your CPU is also below the safe threshold.
Xaanix, the E8500 does not bottleneck your machine. You have a bottleneck elsewhere because the E8500 is still an amazingly capable machine.

Just LOL
As said i have an E7400 which is an average of 3-4% slower in videogames than your E8500 still i can play everything on Ultra 1680x1050 maxed out quality settings ingame and on ATI Drivers with 33 FPS average (27fps lowest) on a medicore Radeon4870 1GB. and 4GB DDr2 ram using Vista64
What specs do u have besides E8500 and what fps does "fraps" report ?

Hey i have a question, I'm getting a second monitor soon because this 1 is super old and crappy. With these specs: Operating system:Windows 7 CPU type:AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor CPU Speed (GHz):2.614 System memory (GB):3.999 Graphics card model:ASUS EAH5770 Series Desktop resolution:1024x768 Hard disk size (GB):232.876
I want to get a new monitor for less than $200. Any suggestions on company or specific model. I should be getting it Mid-may.
|
Jlab: ASUS has some decent quality monitors for under $200. I think some screenshots proved that SC2 looks better under 1920x1080 (16 ), which is the highest resolution you can get for sub $200. 1680x1050 (16:10) seems to be popular as well. I plan on getting an ASUS 1920x1080. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236074
Pplusad: An ATi HD 4870 1GB should be getting more than 33FPS average... I would expect at least 50 FPS from that card in SC2 at your resolution ....?
|
danggit i can only run SC2 on medium detail
|
Awesome. That is probably exactly what I'll get then, And luckily i got a graphics card with one blue plug thing (My old monitor) and the white one (That one. AKA my "new" monitor)

Dear god lol, i actually managed to run SC2 on my HP Mini haha.
It was probably around 3-4 fps but the fact that it was able to run the game is just amazing, now i don't have to worry one bit about my computer back home being able to run SC2.
|
how do you deduce that your computer will be able to run it just because a HP Mini will run it?
|
XFX 1 Gig 5770 i3 2 Ghz 4 gig DDR3
1680 resolution Ultra FPS stays between 57-62 usually. One time with lots of carriers on a 4 player game dropped to like 52 lowest.

Because my computer back home is way better, and when i posted my specs of it earlier you told me i would be able to run it

Mediocre Graphic Card ? You gotta be kidding me... the 4870 is one of the best graphic card you can get around right now... It just doesn't support DX11 but it doesn't matter since most games right now aren't really full DX11 yet...

Indeed. The 4870 is still an enthusiast graphics card ! Old flagship hanging strong

Hey guys im pretty much computer illiterate, so those "specs" mean nothing to me . I was wondering if anyone would say if my computer can run sc2 and on what settings.
# Operating system:Windows 2.5.1.2600 (SP 2) # CPU type: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz # CPU Speed (GHz):3.436 # System memory (GB):2.999 # Graphics card model:ATI Radeon HD 4350 # Graphics card driver:ati2dvag.dll # Desktop resolution:1152x864 # Hard disk size (GB):135.221 # Hard disk free space (GB):103.317
Its an old computer and ive had troubles in the past that took me forever to figure out. Is there anything there that might need replacing?

It should be able to run SC2 fine at low, maybe medium
