old Kerrigan destroys new Kerrigan

her voice would be decent for pre-infested kerrigan but not the infested kerrigan.

Yeah, this new voice would've sounded great for the uninfested or even newly infested Kerrigan. But Kerrigan is like 31 now and should sound like a woman -- not a little girl.
|
I agree her voice is too high pitched and not gritty enough. Can anyone enlighten me as to why they switched voice actors for this role? I'm obviously missing something.

Oh, give it a break... If you listen to the comparison you can easily tell the original had about 3 filters on it, and Karen's recording is clean. I think with filters and everything I'm sure it will be fine, but I'm probably just saying that because I find it hard to care about single player games, esp RTS campaigns.

Given this woman's resume in videogames, more than likely someone who works at blizzard had a good experience with her (strassman) on some other game.
There is also the fact that campbell now uses sarah mckerrigan as a pseudonym for her romance novels. They may have been a bit freaked out that someone would do that.
|
Well this might change...Karen Strassman might not make it to actually record the voice patterns for sc2...I mean, how old is she? 30ish? 40ish? and when will sc2 actually get finnished? 2112 anyone??

Yeah, the old voice Kerrigan sounds a lot better. Too bad...

I totally hate how she pronounces "important" words. It annoyed me not even half way through. I basically didn't like any of that voice acting in that MP3. And I am pretty sure that no matter how many filters you apply, she will still annoy me.

With all due respect to Miss Strassman, she can´t hold a candle to a clergyman.
Old KErrigan blows her out of the water....
Check out the Zeratul Xel Naga Cutscene with the hydras... thats the old kerrigan in the end.. and she sounds AWESOME...
Why they fired her... is beyond my capabilities to fathom.
At least they brought back the original Jim Raynor..

This is retarded, her voice is way off and the real voice of Kerrigan is ready and willing to do it. Why does Blizzard always have to fix whats not broken.

My only guess is that Blizzard doesn't pay much for their voice actor. Since it's Blizzard, it's really easy for them to dump the actors and get new hobos down the street.

They're dropping their now retired-from-voice-acting-living-poorly-as-a-writer voice actor for a has-a-huge-ass-resume-and-probably-charges-up-the-wazoo-for-voice-acting voice actor. I seriously doubt she wants a huge costly contract with Blizzard who literally has millions to throw away at their games considering she wants to do it and even uses the pen name "Sarah McKerrigan" on her generic romance novels.

I don't think it was just the filters. IMO you can tell by the spacing and emphasis they each use when delivering the line that the first sounded a little better. The second one seemed acceptable though.
|
i think she needs a deeper voice when doing kerrigan to make it sound more menacing.

Yeah your right, I can't make any sense out of it. I just hope someone here from TL who will go to Blizzcon will ask Blizzard what's up with that.

Anyone who's a professional voice actor can make their voice deeper as well, so it's not like we'll be hearing high pitched bubbly Kerrigan come release.
|
Blizzard never gave a reason for switching Kerrigan's voice actress?
